All inclusive or not? Which is more cost-effective?
JessiTaylor replied to Rmarino222's topic in Newbies!!
for weddings - all inclusive is pretty much always cheaper for guests/normal holidays- all inclusive often works out cheaper but i think it depends what activities you want to do while there eg if youre there for a week and you know that you want to do several all day tours (eg pass the day at chichen itza, a day at xcaret, cozumel day or whatever) and go to places like coco bongo at night...maybe it wouldnt be cheaper. as youd virtually be passing no time in the hotel. if your plan is to relax and spend all the time in pool/sea eating and drinking (like my plan haha) AI works out better than paying a hotel per drink/meal -
Post Wedding entertainment-Who pays?
JessiTaylor replied to laurissa37's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Preferably the couple would pay but if its optional and not your 'main reception' then I think the guests can pay. So you have the ceremony, dinner or whatever with the first dances etc, and then whoever wants to go on can go on. Especially since coco bongo might not be for everyone! -
Catholic Marriage in Mexico- Requirements
JessiTaylor replied to edna's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
and years later this information from the OP is still accurate! only difference i would note: "an Affidavit of Freedom to Marry for each party signed by a competent person (e.g. parent, relative or close friend) and the signature witnessed by a pastor/priest/cleric of the person vouching for your freedom to marry." I am the non-catholic one in the 'mixed marriage'. And i had to go to the catholic church in my parish back in England for this form, but then I had to take it to a solicitor for it to be a proper affidavit (though my mum did sign it as the competent person). Not sure if this is specific to England, or if it is specific to that church...but it wasn't witnessed by the priest, it had to be done legally -
done, let me know if it doesnt arrive!!

i cant seem to find parasols here in mexico (i live here) and if you order things from abroad customs can charge you a massive tax bill. i was charged several hundred dollars when my mum sent me a dress and a few bits and bobs from england. so if you do find them, i would definitely try to pack them rather than send them directly to the hotel its a pity as i thought theyd look awesome, guess im going with flowers now!

oh yeah isla de la pasion ! i loved it and it was my fi's top choice venue. someone just asked me about it on weddingbee so ill paste my reply (it might have been you, who knows!) we visited at night (had a few problems with our schedule) but it was really lovely. completely private, really soft silky sand. i think the menu is buffet only rather than plated, and it mentions a lot of seafood but they say they can work with food requests.I didnt go a food tasting as we ended up going with a different venue Its all sand so you would have to rent a dance floor for dancing. There is a lot of space so can be adapted for bigger/smaller weddings. The palapa is pretty spacious and there are plastic sheets that can be pulled down in the event of rain or strong wind. In terms of bathrooms there are quite a few, I think was 3 sets of double bathrooms for both men and women. they are approx 3mins walk from reception site Private event times start from 5pm, which should give enough time for a ceremony in daylight. You can probably have a day time wedding too but there may be people around on the day trips The only drawback is all the guests would have to spend one night in cozumel - as the boat takes people from la isla to cozumel and by then it would be too late to get the ferry (well, if its a late reception) i dont think it would be possible to get them back to playa del carmen/cancun but not 100% sure The lady who worked there (i think her name was meliza?)was really friendly and she took us to the little cabin where the bride and groom stay on the wedding night. Its a 2 bedroom cabin all made of wood with a sitting area and and hammocks outside. Its sort of rustic but romantic.has AC and fans we actually saw a small wedding there and it looked great. they had a DJ playing and some simple flowers and it looked great! I think itd be a really great place. If we hadnt already have chosen a hotel in playa del carmen (so logistically getting guests back would be hard), and my father didnt turn green every time i mentioned boats we might have chosen it

normally in this situation, guests will all have to pay a day pass to get onto the resort property, and the couple has to pay a higher fee for every non resort guest. So even if there is (for example) a 1500 dollar wedding package, the couple will have to pay a certain amount per person on top of this. plus transportation.on top of this, most resorts charge more for a private reception (if you dont want to share a space with other people) it also seems the dreams wedding packages don't include a meal (regardless of whether you stay there) so if you want a reception with a sit down dinner its going to be around 48 dollars pp including open bar (or less for appetiser reception)

you normally feed anyone who is with you all day - wedidng planners, photographers etc. anyone who arrives after dinner (eg a band) doesnt normally get fed 1-2 courses is standard i think (eg main and dessert, starter and dessert)

JessiTaylor replied to chipotle99's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Wedding Vendors
You're welcome!! i was surprised there isnt more info about them on here or even on google! I looked for ages for a good band but i thought they would all be way out of my price range until i found the shine band. I love that they have different packages and they reply so quickly =) I have a really good feeling about them! -
Blue Venado???
JessiTaylor replied to marilili's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
oh me too! well essex actually but i dont admit that to anyone. My friends coming from london got incredible deals from thomas cook - 1400pp for 14 nights in our hotel and flight from london. the deals are not nearly as good coming from within mexico im doing a tasting soon so i ll post info about that in 2 weeks! -
i wouldnt ship anything thats fabric (chair covers etc). my mum sent me a package from london to where i live in mexico, 1.5kg, worth around 650 dollars (dessy dress for BM, ties etc) and i got hit by a surprise tax bill of around 350 dollars plus extra DHL service charges, when queried, the lady said that fabric things are taxed highly (as well as goods over a certain price range). nightmare

ive spent a while googling in both spanish and english and i havent found any sign of ice sculptures, except for a reference by cancunweddingservices.com saying that they provide them (but i assume youd need the rest of their services too) are you having an indoor wedding? i wouldnt have thought that ice sculptures were possible in cancun given its at least 80 degrees pretty much year round, and well...they'd melt uberquickly wouldnt they?. if im wrong id love to know, theyre beautiful!
