  1. I love both countries! I visited Riu Mambo in Dominican a few years back and thought it was great. But I've lived in Costa Rica for four years now and I'm very happy here. I am a wedding musician and I've played all over the country. There are dozens of excellent venues for weddings on the beach or in the rainforest with the spectacular Arenal Volcano as a backdrop. You can choose from large all-inclusive resorts, small boutique hotels or private villas. I recommend using a planner to save you a lot of hassle.
  2. I've lived in Guanacaste for four years and I think you might also like Samara or Nosara. I prefer Samara because it has a good paved road all the way from Liberia Airport (about a 2 hour drive). Nosara is about 2 hours then another 45 minute drive down a dirt road. Both are small, quiet, surfer/hippy towns with beautiful beaches and good surfing, lower costs and low crime. Check out Tierra Magnifica boutique hotel in Nosara...really beautiful spot. I'm a Canadian wedding musician and I've played there before...very nice place.
  3. If you like Manuel Antonio then I can recommend Costa Verde. It's a very nice place with a large open-air dining room with a stage area for bands and beautiful views over the Pacific. It's located on the main road between Quepos and Manuel Antonio. I'm a wedding musician and I've played there several times.
  4. If anyone is looking for a great wedding band in Tamarindo, check out Los Mojitos at livemusicincostarica.com
  5. Hi, my name is Brad and I'm a musician in Guanacaste, specializing in destination weddings. There are dozens of beautiful venues in the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica on the North Pacific Coast. My favourite places are Marriott Guanacaste, Tamarindo Diria, Westin Conchal and Riu Guanacaste. If you are looking for something quieter then there are also lots of smaller boutique hotels like Capitan Suizo, Bosque Del Mar or Langosta Beach Club. Or there's villa resorts like Bahia Pez Vela which is very nice. Most of them can arrange the ceremony on the beach then a bonfire after dinner. My group Los Mojitos can play for the ceremony on the beach and/or for dancing music at the reception.
  6. I'm a wedding musician based in Playas Del Coco with my group Los Mojitos. I've played weddings at lots of venues in Costa Rica, especially in the North Pacific region. Hilton Papagayo is very nice with a quiet semi-private beach, but I also like Marriott Guanacaste, Westin Conchal and Riu Guanacaste. If you are looking for something quieter and more intimate, maybe look at the smaller boutique hotels such as Capitan Suizo, Langosta Beach Club or Pacifico Beach Club.
  7. I'm a Canadian musician and I live close to Riu Guanacaste. I've played there several times for beach ceremonies and dance receptions. I think it's a great location for destination weddings, close to Liberia Airport, beautiful darker sand beach and with good restaurants.
  8. Hi there, I have attended two weddings at RIU Guanacaste in the last two weeks. It's a nice resort, typical all-inclusive deal, right on the beach. They are currently building a huge extension so there's a bit of construction noise just now but that should be finished in the next few months. I'm a musician and I played for the ceremony of both weddings right on the beach, then the latin jazz group Los Mojitos played for the reception. You can see photos of the resort and the ceremony at the website livemusicincostarica.com and feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Good luck with your wedding!
