  1. If you do not want to get married in a hotel I suggest you pick a private garden or house. You can have your party with very little restrictions. Also, at least in Martoca, you set the budget and we will make it happen. We do not offer a package deal per se, we simply put together all the elements you request and add up the bill. It is that Simple. A wedding in a private garden should be fun, intimate and most importantly ORIGINAL. Everyone seems to get married in a resort but few people have the adventurous heart and originality to think outside the box and go for an off the beaten path approach. So if you do decide to be extra adventurous, here are some tips for you lucky ones: Define your budget Figure 70% for the party and 30% for extras and decorations and miscelaneous fun stuff.... Invite friends and family and figure out who is coming before you plan!! Make it more of a 3 day wedding than just the night of the wedding. For example, take a tour all together one day, then the wedding day at the private garden... and then go the next day to a beach-brunch to cure the hangover! Hire a planner! Pick a weekday for the wedding.... cheaper and no one cares... they are on vacation anyway! Those are the key ingredients to a great wedding trip. Have fun and if you need an affordable, fun, original but classy wedding.... visit and shoot us an email. [email protected]
  2. So sorry it took so long to respond those emails. I had much trouble with the web site. I apologize. I hope your wedding days are amazing! As long there is much love and good tequila and Mariachi all will be as it should be! Perfect! Jimmy

  4. Here in Puerto Vallarta I have them made in the tile shop but I do not know in Tulum or Cancun area. Sorry.... But it is a cool gift for sure. Ask your wedding planner, they should help. Jimmy
  5. Everyone would like to give out souvenirs for their guests so why not get souvenirs that remind them not only of the bride and groom but also of the country or area they visited! Tequila Shot glasses with your names and location are always a good choice. They are inexpensive and every guest will love them. If you would like to take it to the next level I would go with a bottle of your own brand of tequila (label). You can get a case of tequila made for you with your labels of choice. It is a great conversation piece and very surprising. Another cool choice is coasters made from hand painted tiles. You can have the done before your arrival and either use them at the wedding or give them and gifts in case you are scared they will be lost. This goes well with the tequila glass, the bottle and the coaster. Also, there is a beautiful small cutting board for the limes that we can have made with the date and location engraved and maybe the theme of the wedding carved on there as well. These are awesome gifts and will be charished by your guests forever.... Just thoughts for your souvenirs i hope you enjoy.... Jimmy www.martoca.com
  6. Mexican Musical Choices Tips Chose the right band for your ceremony or dinner music! Please make sure when you hire Mariachi Bands that they are at least a 9 piece Band and authentically dressed. They must wear their full outfit so they look amazing. The attire of a mariachi group, called a "traje", consists of botines(or ankle boots), a sombrero(or broad-trimmed hats), a mono(or large bow tie), a chaleco(or short jacket), snug trousers without back pockets, a wide belt "cinto pitiado", and botonaduras(or shiny buttons) on the side of the pants. This will make your night even more memorable because most guests end up taking pictures with the sombreros and it is an enhanced experience! Insist of your wedding planner that they verify this for you. Check this Mariachi out, I threw in Luis Miguel as a bonus for you girls! Click here to watch the video. Also discover Trios for your musical entertainment. A Trio is a very romantic and an excellent choice for dinner music. This music is very famous in Mexico and if you would like to listen to what it is please check out Trio Los Panchos who are the best there ever was in Mexico on you tube click here to watch the video Either type of music group should cost you about 400 to 600 Dollars an hour for very good musicians. Thank you for reading my tip for today, for more free advice visit... www.martoca.com or email [email protected] Buena Suerte! Jimmy A few more Mariachi moments courtesy of del Sol Photography:

  9. I just finished watching "Ganglands", a TV show on some channel on cable. In 1990s the Hells Angels and the Pagan's were going at it for years and killing themselves and yes, some by standers here and there. My point is unless you are in a gang, want to double cross a drug lord or look for trouble you will be fine. My family lives in Puerto Vallarta and we are all US citizens and have homes in Austin, TX. If we wanted to we would leave but it is just sooooo beautiful in Vallarta and our life is great.... why leave!? JImmy
  10. The beaches in Vallarta are nice in either the south side around the Dreams area or the north side in the Punta de Mita, Nuevo Vallarta (Dreams Villamagna) and Bucerias area. If you want to have more variety do what most brides are doing now which is to have your guests stay in an AI and have the actual reception in a private venue. For example a garden on the beah or villa. This gets the guests out of the hotel for a day and let's them see the other areas. Beach wise I think the Dreams in NUevo has the better beach than the Dreams in the south (original one). Also resort wise the Dreams in the south is run down compared to the north side one Villamagna. If you like nicer places go Villamagna, if you like jungle and somewhat more rustic rooms and old instalations go with Dreams south. If you have to go with Dreams. Good luck, either place will be fun. The beaches are both nice and safe. Nuevo Vallarta has miles of beach compared to the beach in the south one that has maybe 700 yards wide... I just remembered that... if you like walking on the beach or you have excersize joggers go with Nuevo for sure.... Sorry, I hope that helps. We are in Bucerias which is 15 minutes north of the Villamagna Dreams. Even we go to the south side sometimes to get a different beach... so both beaches are great in their own way. I would let the resort itself be the tie breaker! JImmy www.martoca.com Bucerias beach which connects 6 miles up the beach with Dreams Villamagna in NUevo Vallarta which are the buildings you see far away from the pool under the clouds... hope this helps!
  11. Funny but a wedding in Puerto Vallarta can be set up in 5 emails for the core part. For as low as 7,000 usd... at home you would be visiting the wedding planner daily for months... I concur with you, the fact that you can set it and forget about it is much liberating! www.martoca.com
