  1. Welcome QuintanaV! A long engagement is GREAT! Give you plenty of time to plan! I think it's never too soon to plan! I am 2 months in (engaged Christmas 2011) and basically all I have done is picked a resort, date (waiting on school to confirm break for date), chose colors & found a dress. AS far as a timeline, I have been just reading through this forum and writing down a slew of ideas!!!! I am keeping a journal...and bought a planning book on Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/Destination-Wedding-Planner-Ultimate-Planning/dp/0811866734/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329144217&sr=8-1 I am feeling a little overwhelmed, but know once I have my date booked and confirmed, I can roll out my plan. I am assuming my next step would to get the STD's out & the website complete. I am hoping then this site will just guide me the rest of the way (I am addicted to it! LOL) The group of women on here are amazing & more than generous with information & advice..I am sure someone will be taking the time to share a timeline with you. Happy Planning & see you around the forum!
  2. AllieH, I like the way you are doing it!!! Of course, who doesn't like gifts? I could sure use that upgraded blender/margarita machine! LOL! I want to redo my bedroom linens!!! I know what you mean...some people would rather give a gift than make a donation...and I am sure my friends/family will throw me a surprise shower for I have never been married and they are all going to want me to experience the whole tradition of marriage and what comes with it. I have heard about these travel registries and think that is a great idea, too. Not sure if my FI will "come around" on this. I am sure this summer once we are back on our boat amongst our friends every weekend...and if the subject comes up, they may sway him....we'll see. Thank you so much for sharing this with me.
  3. That is so great that accommodated you & your dress. Good things happen to good people. Bets of luck!
  4. These are the best bags I've seen so far. I need to take a ride to my Christmas Tree Shop this weekend and see if I can find something similar. The jute fabric is so much more beachy!
  5. Forgot about this song! Great song! I have added it to my Wedding List!
  6. Stunning! I dd not even think about a welcome dinner dress...love that idea & love that it's white! (love the shoes, too!)
  7. The lace & the corset make it! I saw go with what you want on the dress & compromise on something else for them!
  8. OMG that is an amazing song! I have the cd. Then heard it in the movie "10 Ways to Lose A Guy!" Not many know it!
  9. Great bags...., but they do not have the colors I need. :-(
  10. AWWWW, LOVE LANDSLIDE...I love the version where she says in the beginning, "This one's for you, Daddy."
  11. Luvdezi , thanks for posting this review. Although it's a few years old, I am reading every review I can find about RPRM. My FI & I were there 2 years ago on vacation and absolutely loved it! The staff was so nice & friendly. We were with 4 other couples so by the 3rd day the waitstaff knew who we were and were so accommodating. We are heading back there April 2013 to get married. I am very happy to see how great your pictures came out! I wrote down your photographer's name, Juan Carlos Magallon...I sure hope he's still on staff or at least someone comparable. From the sounds of it Chili's Steakhouse is the place to be! I loved the restaurant! Your dress was beautiful & that Banana Republic necklace was AMAZING! Hopefully you check in from time to time and you will find this post! Thanks again!
  12. This was a useful thread to find. Thanks for starting ! I have saved it in my list of links to go back to by category. I love the play on beach words for the RSVP's - cute & fun!
  13. I am still in my early planning stages although so far I love the following songs...just bit sure where to incorporate where yet - but will share my initial thoughts - AND I AM SURE THEY WILL CHANGE 100 TIMES! LOL! Marry Me Train - predictable, huh? - maybe maybe maybe walk down the aisle to an acoustic no lyric version We Are Man & Wife - Michelle Featherstone - maybe while we sign the civil/legal ceremony documents A Thousand Years - Christina Perri This Years Love - David Gray - another option to walking down the aisle or entrance of FI & ring bearer (no groomsmen) Run - Matt Nathanson & Sugarland - not sure, but love it!! Will You Still Love Me - Amy Tiger - First Dance or You & Me - Lifehouse - which is OUR SONG
  14. 5 1/2 years??? I got ya beat, Sister! 6 1/2 here! LOL! Gosh guys are slow! Great news on the on the interview! Good Luck! I am a firm believer of everything happening for a reason so maybe this is why!!!! Power of positive thinking....it works! Sunny CA? Lucky lucky lucky! I am in (now chilly) Upstate New York. I live in Clifton Park which is like 20 minutes north of the capital, Albany & 20 minutes south of Saratoga Springs where the big horse racetrack is and they host the Travers Horse Race every August. Great area - 3 hours from NYC - 3 hours from Montreal, Canada...pretty central....
  15. So sorry about your Mom. :-( I am happy that everything went the way YOU WANTED IT!
  16. Now there is a super cool idea! So like a 3 band channel like the setting, but just as a band? I like how you think. I have larger hands (not man hands like on Seinfeld (LMAO) but just enough where I can carry off bigger jewelry. Ohhh, I know what ring you have - NICCCCEEEEEE KELLYGRRRRL!!!! Your man is good to you. When we first started looking at rings I was building one on Tiffany! Yes, I need the luck on the FI band! hahaha Going to work him slowly each day. Start shopping for him.
  17. Aphrodite - your family sounds JUST LIKE MINE!. Although, my FI has indicated he does not want to have a AHR...no one in my family has brought it up yet...(although I have only been engaged almost 2 months - LOL!) Praying it doesn't. If I were to? DANG STRAIGHT I'd wear my dress again....I LOVE IT SO MUCH! TACKY (MEAN) PEOPLE SUX. HUG YOUR CHILDREN & everyone else's!!!)
  18. Now that is a great idea! I did that with my sister-in-laws bridesmaid dress i wore in her wedding to my brother. LOVED IT SO MUCH , I made it into a cocktail dress. You doing it with your wedding dress - such a nice "symbolic" flair! Love it!
