  1. Thanks for sharing Peach - This just confirms I do want to walk down the aisle to this! I just shared on my FB wall. BEAUTIFUL!
  2. Thanks Sweetie! And congrats on being a Bridesmaid! I am a professional one! haha ( NOT NO MORE! BRIDE IT IS! )
  3. Emily - I think I read somewhere they only do 2 weddings a day ....although I cannot recall where I saw that, but that is what sticks in my head.
  4. Nix - feel free to LURK anytime! We love having you still here with us!!! xoxo Thanks for all the su!pport & helpful information Hi Jen! Welcome back - I remember seeing you on the boards a few months back! Your wedding is right around the corner! You must be so exited. Quick question - did you book a photographer? May I ask who? This is my next decision to make. I, too and hoping to do a private reception at Chili's with the resort DJ. Although I am concerned with the mixed information I've read about what time your private reception can begin. 7 or 8:45? It would seem ridiculous to have a DJ for 2 hours...since they make you shut down music at 11 as a courtesy to other resort guests. Have you received any information in this at all? My FI and I are doing OOT bags. 1 per couple or 1 per person if friends are sharing a room. As far as plastic cups - I bought acrylic tumblers at the Christmas Tree Shop this spring. This should be interesting transporting these - I may have to break seals and remove straws so nothing breaks. When you firm up details with them 2 months prior to your wedding date - that is when you have to supply a full list of your guests so they can make sure that 80% of them are booked at the resort. But Nix is right! Doesn't hurt to keep them in the loop. More information is always better than less!
  5. I am still on the hunt for that perfect blue shoe for my wedding. I have purchased these 2 pairs so far. The 1st pair pictured sandal/jeweled one I found at Marshall's. I think I already ruled them out. It's a denim material. I will keep them and bring to the resort just the same. The 2nd pair - the glittery pair is a front runner....I found them at May's - I am still looking though...not IN LOVE yet. I still have a wedge'ish shoe in my head...but do not want to be too tall. I am 5'10" as it is. Pair 1- Adrienne Vittadini Pair 2 - Caparro Zorro
  6. HAPPY FRIDAY RPRM Brides! I just wanted to share my koozies that arrived yesterday. I order 100 (they actually shipped me 101) & also gave me the Bride & Groom one free. With shipping I paid $91.00, although their standard shipping is 2 day. I think they were worth the $$. The koozies were .76 a piece. I figure I will hand out at least 60. No worries about having the extra 40 since we figure we can give extras to family & close friends. Plus, we are on our boat in the summer & they are always good to have there, plus we lose them from time to time. You can design your own - send them a picture, etc. They also have many templates to choose from. I ordered from http://www.totallykoozies.com/ Here is a picture:
  7. How awesome!!! I just want to thank you for being an inspiration on here. You helped get me motivated & into my planning 6 months ago (cannot believe it's already been 6 months!). Best of luck to you - cannot wait to see all your pictures (and that gorgeous wedding dress!!!) xoxo Elissa
  8. Hey Jess, The luggage tags are those plastic rectangle/square thingies with a tie that connects to your suitcase. You just put your name address & phone number on it in case your luggage gets lost. Some brides put them in their OOT bags and other give as a pre-favor like I am doing - something your guests can use on their suitcases when coming to our wedding! I think it's such a nice surprise for them to get a gift beforehand! Such a neat idea - THANKS TO BDW BRIDES! xoxo Here's a pic of mine (I need to start putting these things in threads to share). I found this anchor template on Vistaprint and now have kinda going that route. The navy blue and white fabric behind the tags are my OOT bags I found at Wally World (Walmart) for $0.88 each. As far as my invites, it had been some time since I crafted so I did need to buy supplies (although I must say a good friend who scrapbooks had an awesome industrial sized cutting board that helped cut too. All bought at Michael's and made sure I had a 40% coupon each time. If you do not get their flyers in your local newspaper - go online to their website. I believe the cashiers will let you buy separately maybe 2 or 3 things if there is not a big line behind you. Inbox me with any questions! Good luck!!!! Lastly, as far as weight loss - I have been on Weight Watchers since October 2010. I lost 25 lbs and have been fortunate enough to keep it off....although I need to start running/working out again. I've been lazy since we got engaged. Emily - you are so welcome! Anytime! Got your FB request and added you!! Love my chair sashes. They were my first buy! They are navy blue sheer organza and came packaged - 25 to a plastic bag folded neatly and easy to pack. I did not take any pictures of mine, but Torilynn, a BDW bride had posted these pictures on here so I ordered from the same place...here are 2 of her pictures. I am so grateful to her - she really inspired me to start planning... Anyway, mine look exactly the same - they came from China - and it took a few weeks - but they are great! I may order some table runners too, depends on how many tables I may have... Tashay you are too cute fixing your typos! Yes, when you get the cigar roller let us know. I am going to mention it to FI tonight and see if he'd like that or rather just buy some in town...also I just sent you a FB friend request!
  9. That's how I was when I first joined this forum. What helped me was by starting a DRAFT EMAIL where I saved all the forum links I wanted to go back to. I organized them by STD, invites, OTT bags, you name it. I just did one thing at a time. You'll get it...it takes a bit, but comes together!! On this forum there are templates you can download/open and use to make your own invitations. If you do a search you can find them. I did a boarding pass. I use to be a crafty person, but had not done any DIY Projects in a long time. This website inspired me and I DID IT. I used a template from BDW Bride, Torilynn...she so sweet. I loved her design so much I emailed her and asked if I could use it. I know they post them for others use/help/inspiration, but I wanted her to know I was going to use it. Here's some pics of my final product. I really surprised myself. It was a lot of work, but I saved so much $$$$! Send me your email address and I will send you what i received from the resort photographer. It appears it is no longer Calypso, but Adventure Photos. They have a Facebook Page and a website. Here is the link to their webiste: http://www.adventurephotosmx.com/index.html#/drerc-ps-2/ I am in the beginning stages of this...however, I think this is something I want to get booked before mid summer if possible. I have nothing on the bouquet packages. In the back pages of this thread the past brides mentioned a link, but it no longer works. I have sent an email with questions to the resort last week. Once I get a response, I will then ask about any information they may have. So nice to meet you and I look forward to planning with you, too! TO ALL RPRM girls - are you on Facebook? Let's connect there to as friends....I am unsure if i am searchable...my name is Elissa Esposito...I will start us a private group there too! :-) Quote: Originally Posted by jessd123 OMG ladies! We will be arriving at the resort on Wed May 1st and will be getting married on Sat May 4th, 2013 at 5:00pm! Origionally this was supposed to be a very small group so I chose to go with the "free" wedding package. After friends and family have all discussed it seems like we have several more people interested in going so who knows. At least you can change the package at anytime, however the other packages dont seem to add much for the $. I may just add the $20 per person over 10. Thankfully, my best friend does hair so I dont need that!! I have a personal friend who is a travel agent. We are waiting on flights to open, here in a couple weeks, to start puting info togethor for guests. I have not sent out save the dates but plan on getting to that soon. The DIY passport info is pretty neat, where did you guys get all of that info? I am by no means crafty so I may end up ordering some or something. I think we will also do the semi-private reception at Chili's after a cocktail hour. I would like to have a mariachi band but the cost is pretty steep for 45 min!!! Whoa!! I am a pretty low key person so I am trying to keep this simple and fun. I figured after dinner there are places we can go drink and hang out without a private reception!! I think I am going to order insulated mugs, fans and maracha's for guests. That is all I have planned at this time. Does anyone have any pricing info on the photography packages through the resort?? Any photos of the bouquet's in the packages?? We are going to have a reception here when we get back so we are trying to stay on a tight budget!! We are planning on staying at the RIU from May 1st to May 7th and then we may go off to a different resort for a few days for a "honeymoon" since we will have more guests than expected. This, however, is still up in the air.
  10. Gosh they get moving so fast! How adorable! Time is flying by! 5 months already! I look forward to seeing your bouquets. This thread in the original stages discussed a link where you could see the flowers they offer at the Riu, but it no longer works...curious how they are...I guess another question for them once I hear back from my 1st email.. I hear what you mean deciding between themes. My invites were boarding passes with starfish...now all my OTT stuff is turning into anchors and barely any starfish. What are your colors? Mine are navy and emerald green with some white and I figure maybe bright pink splashes (flowers). I was going to ask who you booked for photographers! They look like a TOP NOTCH group - their photos look so AMAZING! Will you just pay the visitor fee for them? What is it like $200 a person for vendors? May I ask what package you are going to do? I do not have a big bridal party. it's my FI's 2nd wedding so he said he only wanted his son Jake (who will be 16 next year) to be his BM. This made it simple for me - I chose my Mom as my MOH. I probably wouldn't need them too much before ceremony, but...hmmmm... Where did you find the cigar roller? Did you get any pricing? We were going to go into Playa del Carmen and buy some cigars there a few days before the wedding and have them at the cocktail hour, but maybe having someone there would be way cooler. I just ordered matchboxes and beverage napkins for the cocktail hour so I definitely want cigars (and beverages, too)! hahaha Love love love Maggie Sottero - Adeline - GORGEOUS!!!! Keep us posted!
  11. Emily, I agree I hope we can get this up & running, too! Plus we are all close in dates so it will be fun to get each other excited & share ideas. I will answer your questions within your post here.
  12. You are the best!! I bought the white Avery 2x4 labels and printed one sheet. I got them to cut perfectly! Thanks again for your guidance!! Although, I think I may try the clear labels since the original chapstick label came off so easily. I am wondering if the clear label will do the same thing against the naked white chapstick - give it that protective shine. Or if I should just buy the wrap you speak of and cover the white labels. Here are pics with white label...I only did one to start...I am doing a nautical them...although they look sort of plain.....I may have to play more with it and add a little more to it!
  13. Hi Shay4966! I've seen you around the boards...I've been meaning to recruit you here! I am trying to get more active on here. How is that beautiful little girl of yours doing???? Let's get dishing girls!!! Here's my info - sorry in advance for this being so lengthy, but I am excited to have some future RPRM brides here to plan with!!!!! xoxo We will be at the RPRM for Easter Break 2013 (Easter being early next year - March 31st). We are booked for April 2nd, 2013 wedding day at 5pm. We will be staying at the resort for 10 nights (arriving Wed., 3/27 - departing Saturday, 4/6). We are having a civil ceremony. Yes, we are going to go through all the RED TAPE! We decided on having the ceremony at the Gazebo instead of the beach for a bit more privacy. Here's what i have been up to since January. I was a busy bee up until a few weeks ago when I started to slack off (and needed to catch up with some $$$$) but now I am back to it: I ordered my dress (Jan), created our wedding website on weddingwire.com and then got in touch with Wendy Hicks (TA from this site). I think you are using her too, yes? I sent electronic STD (March), mailed my DIY boarding pass invitations (mid April) and now as of this week I think I have close to 36 people booked (waiting on confirmation from Wendy). My FI, future stepson & I booked our airline flights last week since it's Easter (busy travel time for peeps with school kids) so we wanted to be sure to get out our flights booked before costs went up or the flights filled up. We anticipate 50-60 people attending. It's all coming together - wow! I bought my own chair sashes since I thought $4 a chair sash was ridiculous. Through this site I found a seller on ebay. Spend $58 for 100, so 58 cents a piece. I figure I can sell what I don't use - or sell them all....we'll see. I've seen other brides do it. I ordered luggage tags, key-card plastic holders and lanyards from idcardgroup.com. Mid summer to late summer I plan on giving 2 luggage tags a piece / per person (4 per couple) with a thanks for booking postcard (vistaprint). The inserts for the luggage tags I did with business cards from Vistaprint. Great site for brides! I found my OTT bags at Walmart & got some special ones for the Mom's & family from vistaprint. I am 'almost' done with my OTT bags just finishing up some DIY labels, as well as medications & small stuff. Once I feel confident I am done with these...I will move on to ceremony/reception stuff. Although I feel I should book the photographer soon. I may just go with the resort photographer to avoid all the additional costs. It appears they switched to Adventure Photos. I sent them an inquiry and just heard back from them. Then we need to figure out grooms & BM shirts, my accessories, flowers, etc. CALGON TAKE ME AWAY. Thank goodness we ladies are smart and start planning so far in advance!!!! I have read this thread from the beginning to the present and have had a lot of questions answered although there still seem to be some discrepancies...private verses semi private dinner times, etc. I sent an email to the resort last week although I know it may take some time for them to get back to me - knowing they are busy with other brides and they usually would not talk to me until 2 months prior to the big day. I have been to this resort before so I know I want a private reception at Chili's Steakhouse along with a DJ...I've heard didfferent answers about what time that the reception can begin if it's private at this particular restaurant. Some say 8:45 (2nd seating) and others indicate 7pm....I'd really like to figure some of this out before 2 months out so I am not so depressed if I cannot get what I want. LOL! Enough about long winded me - where are you at in the planning process...what have you done so far. So hapy you are here! Welcome Jez111213! I like how your ate flows 11-12-13 - very nice! Did you plan it that way? I heard the same thing about the sun setting earlier in the fall. Although the ceremony is 20 minutes tops - maybe for pictures and lighting you may want to move up to 3? I get what you are saying though - that waiting game between ceremony & reception. One of the reasons I chose 5. We almost did 4 on the beach, but then changed our minds to 5 at the Gazebo. We reserved our date with the Royal Package. We are unsure if we will move up to the Caprice or not. Even though it includes 20 more people, The additional $1,000 covers things we do not really need. I just need to see what the cost per additional person would and compare it to that $1000 and go from there. Although I already have 36 so who knows...we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. I have a price list of "Extra's" they sent me - for 2012. Even thought the rate on my wedding confirmation shows 2013 prices. That is one of the reasons I sent an email to the wedding peeps there last week (no response yet)....for budgeting purposes and cost comparison, I wanted to confirm what prices I should be paying 2012 verses 2013. Even though I booked in 2012 I would assume they want 2013 pricing??? A little confusing. I will be sure to share with the group once I hear back something. What is your email I can send you what they sent me. Talk to you soon! Elissa Originally Posted by Jez111213 Hi Ladies, I have also read this entire thread plus many others on this site and am so happy I have found this site! My wedding isn't until Nov 2013, however I'm in planning mode and have found so many great ideas here. I am planning on having around 25-35 people so right now it's hard to say what I will end up doing on the actual date since the timing of my entire day will depend if I have the early dinner or later dinner (the resort requires you to have the later dinner of 8:30, 8:45 if you have over 27-30 people). I have my wedding booked for 4pm, and during this time of year in Playa the sun will set around 5:10pm. I'm kind of up in the air if I should move my ceremony to 3 in order to take advantage of the sunlight, however I don't want my guests to have 6+ hours of wait time from the ceremony to dinner (again dependant on the number of people). I am possibly thinking of keeping the time of 4 and having the photographer do some photos prior to the ceremony. After the ceremony I plan on having the cocktail hour (or many hours) and the mariachi band. I may have to give in and do the appetizers, although I really would rather use the $ elsewhere. I'm just afraid I will have a bunch of drunk guests by the time dinner rolls around and don't want everyone to eat and then want to go to bed! More than likely I will have the semi private reception and have seen mixed responses of whether or not an Ipod can be used at the semi private dinner reception. I would also like to know if they will charge you an equipment fee for this or if you just bring your own docking station, then you are good to do it all on your own?? I was originally going to go with the largest package (caprice), however after doing some number crunching and reviewing of the differences between the top two packages, I think I will go with the next level down, the Royal Package. There is a $1000 saving between the two and I don't think the items offered in the next package are work the $1000 extra fee. I know that I may have an extra per person cost above 20 persons, but stil think the savings will be significant. I will also have 2 hairdressers with me so this if the main item that I would want from the Caprice package. If any of you ladies have a price list for the additional services, that would be great. I emailed the WC several weeks ago and didn't hear back. Well, that was kind of long winded, but I think all for now
  14. Kristie - gorgeous dress!!! That is natural? I love the natural...it looks white...so the white must be bright white?
  15. Kristie - gorgeous dress!!! That is natural? I love the natural...it looks white...so the white must be bright white?
  16. Yes, I am doing that as well with the charm! I LOVE PINTREST TOO! xoxo
  17. Thank you Mrs. Wright! I already bought my chapsticks (with labels). I wish I had seen this site previous. Great find! I am buying my labels today and will start my next DIY tonight. Thanks again for your help! I will post pics when complete.
  18. I think the blue heart is a great idea! I lost my day 18 years ago (he was young, 54)...I was wondering how I was going to incorporate him into my day...I like the idea of this....I may try and do something similar. Thanks for sharing - you looked GORGEOUS! PS: The boots rock it, Sister!
  19. I just got an update from our TA, Wendy Hicks. We have 28 people booked so far!!!! It is so exciting! Go ahead and book Em - if prices drop, Wendy said they could go back to the resort for the adjustment.
  20. I booked the actual wedding date with the resort online and then booked the actual rooms through a Travel Agent I found here on this website, Wendy Hicks with Wright Travel.
  21. LolaTX, I added the best as well! Id did not come with the dress, but I thought it gave it an added touch! Sadly, I paid full price for it - $200! UGH! I am not going to have it sewn onto the dress, I will just tie it and maybe wear it again on the honeymoon with a fun top or sundress!!!! Get my wear out of it! I am a little nervous now because I hope I can dance in it and it's not too heavy, but my SIL said not to worry about dancing - that's what alterations are for! I do not think it was heavy - I think I may need to go visit the dress and try it on again! LOL :-) I do not mind at all, I2koster! I am flattered! It is a Paloma Blanca #4115. Here is a picture with the model wearing it...without the belt I added. I absolutely love the necklace the model is wearing with it! Thank you Mlite83 - I agree - very romantic and I feel the skirt has that "Mexican Flare." LlKrik1010 - you cannot go wrong with this beauty for a destination wedding - PERFECT!
