Hi Sheena2011 Thanks again for a very thorough reply. That really helps. A beach wedding was never something my FH and I considered. When we were researching, we were looking at only chapels and gazebos for ceremony sites. There were only two on-resort chapels that we found in the Mayan Riviera and we really didn't like the other resort. I think Natalia had mentioned she could set up chairs for the chapel ceremony but I'm not sure where she meant she would do that (inside vs. outside). I'll have to clarify. As for the reception, when I asked Natalia about reception spaces that fit my criteria, she only mentioned the Seaside Grill but at that point, I knew nothing about El Patio. I'll have to specifically ask about it when I gather a bit more information from this site. I've only emailed her once since I booked my wedding in January, and I don't want to bother her needlessly if I can get the info on here. I PM'd one of the previous brides that had her reception at El Patio, so hopefully I'll get some more insight into that location. Thanks again.

Hi Bananniebread Thanks for responding! Yay another November bride! I'm getting married on November 21 at 4pm. Thanks for the link...very useful. I guess I'll have to see if I can PM one of the past brides for more reception information. I'll keep you posted on any info that I find out. By the way, when are you planning on sending out invitations? Happy planning to you as well!

Thanks yumii28! So far, this has been so helpful! The people here are great. One bride on here helped me find the exact thread I was trying to find. Yay!

Hi Ladies I'm getting married in November 2012, and I've been reading through soooo many DT posts, but I still have a couple of questions. I will have about 60 guests (hopefully not more...long story) and would like to get married in the chapel. Natalia has said that the chapel can fit 60 people but I have read in a previous post that it can only fit 20. Has anyone that has been there/been married there give me any insight on the space inside the chapel? It is my dream to get married in a chapel, so I'm kind of stressing about my numbers. I have heard and seen a lot of information about the Seaside Grill and have heard that it can't be booked for a private event until about a month before the wedding and also the resort is at less than 70% capacity during the day of the wedding. I'm really curious about El Patio. I love the more rustic/earthy look of it...if you want to call it that. Would it be a suitable private reception area for my number of people? If so, is there enough room to dance there? What are the major differences between the El Patio and the Seaside Grill? I would really like a reception area that is covered by a roof, that is large enough for about 60 people and where there is room for dancing. What would be the ideal spot for this? If I am not able to have a covered area, are there areas open to the elements that fit my criteria for guest numbers and dancing? Are the open areas really windy/cold in November? I'm a bit stressed about having no clue about where my reception is going to be. Please help. Thanks.

Tammy Host: Thank you! I searched for it in the search bar but this Dreams Tulum Info Thread didn't come up. I don't know if I'm not searching right or what. Please forgive me...I'm new at this. I really appreciate your help! -

I'm having a hard time finding current posts on Dreams Tulum weddings. I'm getting married at the DT November 21, 2012. Anyone else out there? I will be having approximately 60 guests and would like to ask questions about ceremony and reception stuff. I think I'm going with a package but would need to pay for 40 extra guests on top of the 20 in the package. Will they allow for negotiation/trading of services in the package? I would really appreciate any help. Thanks.

Maridr2012: Thanks for your kind words and your thoughts. The space issue is definitely a problem and so is the cost, but most of all, I felt like our wishes were completely disregarded, and that was the worst part of this all. This wedding wouldn't happen if it weren't for us, so why on earth would anyone think it appropriate to go ahead and invite people to someone else's wedding without asking first?? We didn't have an A and B list...just THE list, and now I'm just not sure what's going to happen. We actually haven't heard from the FH's father. My FH spoke with his mother to see if he could get an idea of what the father thought about the email. It's so frustrating because I feel like the bad guy here. We were put in a position where we had to stand up to my FH's father, and I know that FH's parents think the only reason the wedding is a smaller destination type wedding is because of me. Therefore, I'm the one making this difficult because they believe I'm the reason we aren't following the tradition of inviting every single close and remote relative and friend we can think of + those of the parents. To be honest, the destination wedding idea was my FH's idea to begin with, and I love it! I'm excited and I can't let this put a damper on things. There are plenty of invited, super-supportive friends and family to look forward to.

Hi again Again, I'm with Air Canada but we could still add more guests to our group even after the group quote expired. Here's the catch....the guests that you add after the initial quote expires will pay their fares based on a new quote. If you have more guests that want to book with your group, your travel agent has to request a new quote from Westjet, and your additional guests will pay the new quote...even if it's more. However, your group will still increase in size, allowing you to be eligible for more free rooms (if you have enough rooms booked).

dreams promo book 5 rooms get 6th free

Hi I'm getting married at the Dreams Tulum, and I booked with a travel agent. My carrier turned out to be Air Canada because of all the cities are guests are flying out of. I guess WestJet and and Air Transat didn't offer flights from all our requested cities in November 2012. Having said this, I only know what Air Canada offers but I'm sure it would be similar to Westjet. We received a free room for every 6 double occupancy (2 guests per room) booked. We have 18 double occupancy rooms booked, and we also have 2 single occupancy rooms as well. The single occupancy rooms do not count towards a free one....even when we initially had 3 singles and tried negotiating. In the end, we are receiving 3 free rooms, which is the maximum that they will allow even if we had booked another 6 rooms, you do not get a 4th room for free. You are able to use the credit to actually grant yourself or others free rooms or you can divide it amongst all the guests that booked the rooms with your agent. The monetary value of the credit is the price for your travel agency to purchase a basic room for 2 people from the resort NOT INCLUDING taxes. For example, if the basic room costs YOU $1500 plus taxes per person but your travel agency buys it for $1400 per person plus tax from Air Canada Vacations or whoever, then your free room is worth $2800. So....the dollar value that you get for free is $2800, which you can apply to the cost of the rooms. In your situation, it sounds like to me that you would get 2 free rooms if Westjet does the same thing as Air Canada. I hope this helps. -

I'm a newb at this, and although I know this is an old thread with old posts, I just had to write something in hopes that someone out there right now is dealing with something similar or has some thoughts to offer. Yes...this is a vent. I (unfortunately) know what it's like to have someone invite people to your wedding that you don't know and don't care to invite....so ladies, I feel your pain! My FH's father has invited extended family (some that my FH has met and some that he has not) . I do not know these people nor have I met them. I thought that we were clear about having a small, intimate wedding but I'm not sure if we weren't clear enough or if my FH's father is running his own agenda based on his cultural traditions. To ensure that we were being clear about our wishes, we wrote my FH's parents an email diplomatically stating our wishes on our big day. I guess I should also state that before we wrote them, we received an email from him stating that he invited extra people but he was not direct on how many, which is what started all this. So....I now have no clear idea of how many extra people that may be coming to the wedding (maybe 10-15?? but that's just a guess). I'm upset because we already sent out our save-the-dates and will be sending out our real invites hopefully by the end of March to all the guests that we personally invited. I don't feel that I should send extra invitations to those that I did not invite because of the almost certain fact that it will bring more guests than just those people whose names are on the invite (cultural thing). It seems that when you invite a couple on an invitation, their adult children and husbands + kids are considered to be invited as well. I was not raised that way and my FH and I agreed that we did not want a huge wedding, which was partially the reason why we decided on a destination wedding. We are paying for the wedding and also have limited space for our ceremony and reception areas. Although my FH's father has stated that he would pay for the extra guests, we don't want to have to change our preferred locations because of people we didn't invite. I'm also worried that we will end up footing the bill anyway and have to be prepared to do so. As it stands right now, we have about 60 people (before extras). Any thoughts??
