1. We did the symbolic ceremony just because we didn't want to spend the first few days of our vacation worrying about getting all of the extra stuff done. We got married at our church the Saturday before we left and it was fine. But ultimately it's up to you. I know there are a few people who have posted on here that they did the legal ceremony and it worked out for them, but I'm not sure how much it costs. 2. The DJ is worth it. I didn't want to have to have one of our guests (or me or hubby) worrying about MCing or changing music. Even though I wasn't completely pleased with our DJ, it was worth it to have him there. 3. We didn't pay for extra photographers but we paid for an extra package. We got the $1500 package and it was SO worth it. We did that and then paid for an extra hour of coverage so she could get all of us getting ready and stay until the end of the reception. The pictures we got are better than any wedding pictures I've seen here in Texas and it includes the TTD session. Just from my personal experience you can't get that much coverage plus pictures that good with any photographer in Texas. Don't get overwhelmed. I promise it works out. Having a destination wedding (and having it at Dreams) was the best decision we have ever made.

Yes, you can change your mind as long as they aren't booked. I believe there were 4 ballrooms. In my personal opinion I think having it outside is wayyyy better than in the ballroom unless it's raining. We had to move ours in half way because of rain. The ballroom was OK, but nothing compares to being outside next to the beach in Mexico!

oops, i missed this!!! The food was excellent! The only restaurant I didn't really like for dinner was the buffet but it was great for breakfast! We didn't leave the resort at all and were ok for 10 days! A few of our guests took cabs to Playa Del Carmen for shopping and a few went to Xel Ha with no issues. There was plenty to do for kids! They have a kids club and we will return to Dreams when we have kids because they looked like they were having so much fun. We arrived on Thurday and got married on Monday.

I don't have the document anymore with the choices, but they can pretty much do anything. Just send them a picture and they will give you a quote... but make sure you keep the email with the quote because they could change their mind later on! haha. And keep in mind that the credits can only be used towards equivalent stuff... like flowers for flowers, food for food, etc. We used the hotel centerpieces and I'm really glad we did. They were perfect and everyone commented on how beautiful our flowers were...

You have a higher chance of getting upgraded the higher the room you book.... even if you aren't the bride and groom! We booked a preferred club ocean view and they upgraded us to the honeymoon suite. My parents booked the honeymoon suite (just because they thought they would need more room for family and everyone coming in and out) and they got upgraded to the master suite. We ended up switching rooms so we were in the master suite and they stayed in the honeymoon suite. I would definitely recommend atleast booking a preferred club ocean view. And if its in your budget, I would recommend the honeymoon suite or master suite. We loved the master suite and were really glad we had that to get ready in and have the extra space since we were there for 10 days. The plunge pool rooms are not private at all. And I very rarely saw anyone using the plunge pools the entire time I was there. Also, the upgrades will be based on how full the hotel is. There were about 5 or 6 other brides there during our stay in December. One wedding party had 75 people so it was harder to upgrade the lower level rooms. So, like I said, the higher you book, the more likely you are to get upgraded You can see the pics of the master suite and our view in my fb album...

Oh, I would DEFINITELY do the beach with 75 people!!! Seaside Grill and Oceana are pretty small in my opinion if you want room to dance. You would be really cramped in there if you had a dance floor. I was looking through some of my pictures to see if I had any of those 2 locations, but none really show what it looks like. Oceana is like an outdoor restaurant. Basically just like covered seating. Seaside grill is more like a restaurant. Here's a pic in my FB album and you can kind of see Oceana And Lindsey another bride on here had her reception at Seaside and I think they had about 40-50 people and I think it was pretty full. I know she has posted her video and slideshow on here several times so you could see it.
