  1. Before I recap everything, I wanted to share the blog post I wrote on our OOT bags! Lots of pictures and details about where I got everything!! All of our guests loved them and actually used everything in them! http://www.savanahsmiles.com/2012/12/wedding-wednesday-welcome-to-mexico.html
  2. Hey ladies!!! We just got back from DRC for our wedding that was on the 17th! There were quite a few mishaps, hiccups, etc, but overall the day was amazing and the wedding staff really knows what they're doing! I already have my wedding pics back from Anel and our DVD so I will share those once we are all settled back in, probably after the holiday!
  3. finally heard from the DJ just in the nick of time!!! He said everything was under control I can't believe it's already here!!!! I thought I'd be a nervous wreck and freaking out but I'm just so ready to be there and get married! I'll see some of you ladies there and I'll be back soon with a review!!!!!!
  4. No problem!! I feel like I FINALLY have everything together!! I guess that's good since we leave Thursday! haha!! I still haven't heard from the DJ, but I'm just going to try to relax and not worry about it. If I have to work with someone else when I get there, that's what I have to do!!! I'll try to post when I'm there just to let everyone know about the check in, etc just to ease some minds! And of course post a review when we return!
  5. Yes, we're getting the light up dance floor. I originally wasn't going to because the deck I thought would be good enough. Then I saw all the pictures with it and I think it made for some awesome pictures!! So, we decided to splurge on it I also thought it would give alot of extra light!
  6. We're using the lanterns as part of our centerpiece. They are very small. We're putting the flowers from the resort in the center and then 3 lanterns around it. I mainly wanted extra light and I thoguth that would help. They were only $3 a piece. I got them from a place here called Hobby Lobby... not sure if that's everywhere. They don't take up much room at all. I had to order them in bulk from there and they came in boxes of 8. I have a box in my carry on and my mom has 1 in her carry on. Then a few extras wrapped in bubble wrap in our regular suitcase. I heard that the resort provides a sand ceremony set, but I had already bought ours. Again, from hobby lobby. I also wanted sand to match our colors so I have that too. I ordered a cake cutting set to match our colors and our cake topper and our toasting flutes were gifted to us as an engagement present so that's why I'm bringing those on my own. I'm sure they provide that stuff if you don't have it.
  7. Oh wow, We're bringing alot of stuff!! I'll try to list it all out for you Chair sashes table overlays guest book picture frames for all the tables 25 pink lanterns for reception tables LED tealights to put in the lanterns sand ceremony set napkins cake topper cake knife set toasting flutes maracas for all the guests OOT bags which include: Bubba Kegs koozies sunscreen aloe vera bandaids hand sanitizer chapstick tylenol pepto bismol kleenex Sudoku/crossword puzzle books deck of cards I know there's probably stuff I"m forgetting but total we have well over $1000. I gave quite a bit to my mom to take as well though.
  8. If they say that it still has to be 50 I would point out that you know of other brides that have had it for less than 50 people and ask if it's something new. Get an explanation. That's so weird that they wont let you have it.
  9. I'm starting to really freak out about the packing and going through customs!!! I thought I had it all under control but I'm starting to worry. I gave my mom a bunch of stuff to put in their suitcases and to split between 4 people, but I think my fiance and I still have over $300 each!! I really hope they don't stop us! Anyone who's already gotten married have any insight?
  10. Mine are $60 But, Eva quoted me wrong in the beginning and Lorena told me later on that they were I think $85. I sent her the email Eva had sent me and they said they would honor the price. Our bouquets are the very last one in the bouquet catalog (the bright colored one with oranges, pinks and yellows)
  11. we aren't! I had considered it then figured an extra $300 for an hour of the DJ plus the extra per person for the open bar, it just wasn't worth it! Our reception is over at 8:30 so we plan on just going to Desires
  12. Ok, i'm really confused about this. I was never told anything about having a certain amount of people. We have 35 ppl including my fiance and I and they said it was ok. Maybe it's something new they are doing? Or maybe it has to do with the season? There aren't many weddings right now so maybe that's why they said we could have it.
  13. Actually the pool terrace is concrete and the pool deck is the wooden one with the infinity pool in the background.
  14. Yes, most of the time she responded the same day! I just emailed her again this morning to confirm everything since we're leaving Thursday so hopefully it's the same as it was a few months ago Yes, I am bringing table decorations. I am bringing table overlays, pink tealight lantern things and a framed engagement picture for every dinner table. (we are using the hotel flowers as the main centerpiece though). Then I have some other decorations for the cake table, guest book table, etc. I found the table size somewhere on this forum but I don't really remember what it is. I ordered these table overlays to go over the white table cloths: http://weddinglinensdirect.com/85emorovja91.html And I also bought the chair sashes to match. Hope this helps
  15. I don't think so. I think it all has to do with being an eco-friendly hotel. I know they don't allow fake petals for anything. Although, glitter and confetti would look so cool in pictures!!
  16. Here is Linda's info: LINDA VARGAS AGUILERA <[email protected]> We scheduled a rehearsal with Lorena and I asked Linda if she could come so she is coming to the rehearsal and we are meeting with ther 30 minutes before the rehearsal to pick exactly how we want the ceremony to go. As far as the extra table goes, I am hoping they give us a few extra tables for decorations. I have a lot of pictures I want to display as well as our "guestbook" (it's a print that people are signing). Hope this helps a little bit!
  17. We originally booked the regular ocean view room but just recently decided to go ahead and upgrade to the preferred club OV. Mainly because the free wi-fi, the honeymoon package, the free anniversary nights, and just because we figured we'd get upgraded to a higher room if we do that. I've heard brides on here say that is was worth it to upgrade.
  18. They say that 40 is the minimum for a buffet but I asked about this and they told me 20 was the absolute minimum because of the way the set up is... We are doing a buffet for the same reason you mentioned. We hate seafood and mushrooms and it seemed like every dish had one or the other in it.
  19. We are not having a formal cocktail hour, but are still having the champagne. They do the champagne at the very end of the ceremony after you walk back down the aisle.
  20. There is a 15% service fee on things like dinner, cake, champagne... Things that require a server.
  21. We will definitely see you then How many guests do you have coming? No, I didn't do programs. It was on my list of things to do but then it got nixed as I started running out of time!! GOOD LUCK!!!!
