If you have not committed to a date, than I would advise putting a hold on sending STDs. I don’t know if your stipulations are the result of your TA, the resort, or both, but this sounds completely unreasonable. I would try to negotiate on the terms of your agreement and see if they are willing to work with you. I am also getting married in May of 2013 at the Now Jade and my experience with my TA and planning has definitely been different. Our deposit to secure rooms at the agreed group rate is only $100 per room and I have a small guestlist; we’re only blocking 14 rooms. As such we are actually paying the upfront cost for this deposit, and as our guests book the deposit will be transferred over to the cost of our room and anything left over will be credited to us. The timing of our payment plan is also more flexible than yours – initial deposit for our guests to secure a room from our block is equal to 1-night stay (this can be done anytime between now and 120 day from expected arrival), 2nd payment which is equal to half of the cost of their trip is due 120 days before arrival, and the balance is due 45 days before arrival.

Show off your shoes....
ChocoTaco7568 replied to twinkletoes's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Hey Chelsea! Your inspiration shoes are to die for, I absolutely love them. However, if you have the time patience to bling out the Jessica Simpson pumps, I think they will work beutifully with Alma. I think I'll find myself in a similar boat. It's becoming mission impossible to find a sleekand sexy chartreuse shoe. This is my inspiration shoe... -
I stumbled upon these earring and I think they're fantastic. I'm itching to purchase them, but think it's a bit pre-mature since my wedding isn't until May of 2013. But I already have my dress picked out, so maybe that's all that matters.

I work in the field of construction management, I'm a project engineer for a commercial general contractor.

Hmm... I'm pretty sure it's on their list of decoration items/serivices but I think they call them something else, however I don't have their wedding guide in front of me to confirm (the 2012 guided that they send you, not the one on the website). Regardless, Pilar is my wedding coordinator and I will supply the lanterns and they will be hanging them for me.

Me and my Fi adopted the clean eating lifestyle a little over a year ago and we've never felt better. I would recommend this to anyone. I convivecd my to slowly adopt the principles and she's lost a lot of weight and no longer needs to take her cholestorol and high blood pressure meds!

+1. We didn't extend an invite to anyone that we didn't deem to be true friends (no close acquaintances); we didn't see the need for "filler people" to be there. And we limited our guest list to immediate family (no aunt's/uncles or cousin). We don't have a close relationship with most of our extended family but felt that we couldn't just invite a select few without creating unnecessary family drama . The friends and family who can't attend our wedding are due to financial constraints. While they don't avoid us, they don't really talk about our wedding at all, nor do we bring it up. But there hasn’t been any change in my relationships or awkwardness with those who cannot attend. The reality is, no matter where we get married, it would have been a destination wedding for the vast majority of our guests. My Fi and I live in OR, he’s from MT, I’m from PA and most of our friends live in WA.

I'm also having my reception on the terrace and will be bringing paper lanterns as well. Like many brides who use the paper lanterns, I will make LED throwies. If you don't know what a throwie is than do a search fo 'DIY LED lights' and you should be able to find the thread with pics and instructions. I definitely prefer the looks of lit paper lanterns.

Pre-Made OOT Bags
ChocoTaco7568 replied to RiniB's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
If I were pressed for time, these would be a real consideration; they're super cute. But I honestly have been enjoying the process of shopping around for the best deal. It's quite satisfying to find great deals and it keeps me excited about the whole process. -
Our OOT bags!
ChocoTaco7568 replied to Ange83's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I like the bag, what a great dollar store find. -
I love the the floating candles and orchids as centerpieces. I just bought my vases 4x set of 3 (6", 8": and 10.5" all with 3.5" diameter). Based on the original post, this wasn't the best deal, but it was the best price I could find. Eeach set was $9.99. hopefully, I'll come under budget for the remaining centerpiece items.

Are OOTs a must? What are alternatives?

I'm so happy I stumbled upon this thread. It definitely relieved the anxiety that I was beginning to acquire regarding OOT bags. -
Clean your engagement ring
ChocoTaco7568 replied to skp1's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
+1... I let my ring soak for about 15 minuites in a 50/50 mix and I also add a drop of liquid dish detergent and scrub with a soft bristle toothbrush. I also have an ultrasonic cleaner and a steamer with an attachement head that is perfect for smaller items (purchased for all my jewelry prior to engagement). We purchased my ring online, so I don't have any free cleaning services. But cleaning my jewelry was already a habitat. But I will take my ring into a jeweler to get polished before my wedding. -
Hey Mlite83, I don't know if you're looking at Now Jade or Now Sapphire, but I know the answer to your questions for Jade and I assume that they won't vary much for Sapphire: 1) The outside vendor fee is $350, but this doesn't apply to photographers as they are not categorized as vendors. Your photographer(s) will be required to pay a $55 per person for a wedding day pass. 2) Regarding substitutions the quick answer is NO, they seem to have a 'if you don't use it you lose it' policy. However, I have spoken to a couple of brides who have informed me the closer they got to the wedding day and the more persistent they were with their requests, the more accommodating the WC became. But there are no guarantees with this theory, and I wouldn't choose the resort or make wedding plans assuming that your requests will be met. Just let it be a pleasant surprise if they do. By the way, BDW is hosting a Now Jade/Sapphire webinar on March 24 which should be really informative and hopefully answer a lot of questions for prospective brides.

Hello and congrat s to my fellow Now Brides! I have a wedding date confirmed at the Now Jade for May 18, 2013. A little ahead of the curve, but I honestly couldn't imagine plannign a destination wedding ith any less time. I have been corresponding directly with the resort and have had many questions answered so far, but the following have not been asked yet: Based on resort availability, is a complimentary room provided or available for the groom? Are cocktail hour locations private wedding events during their scheduled time? Per the wedding planning form, the Ocean Terrace set-up provides rectangular tables that accommodate 8, 12, 16, or 20 people. Please provide the dimensions of these tables? Is there a limit to the number of guest not staying at the resort that can attend the wedding? There is no reference to this questions on the website or in any of the documentation provided to me. Are items interchangeable between the Eternity Menu 1 and Menu 2? Example: can I choose the first and second course from Menu 1 and the third and fourth course from Menu 2? Can I offer my guests the choice between entrees (third course) if I know exactly how many of each will be required when I submit the wedding planning form? That's it for now, I'm sure more will follow in the upcoming weeks.
