  1. Hey there, We opted to send formal invites only. For us personally, sending save the dates was an unjustifiable expense for our guest list of +/- 25. We speak to those that we're inviting on a regular basis and they all are well aware that we’re getting married in May 2013. We are sending the invites out in June or July and will also put together a wedding website, which should be more than sufficient. But my invite design is about 98% complete. I did a test print last weekend, and made a couple of changes and I’m contemplating changing one of the fonts. Aside from this, all my materials are on hand or have been ordered and I’ll probably start putting them together in a couple of weeks. But I really need to put some thought into the wedding website as this needs to be done before sending my invites. And we’re having a symbolic ceremony in Mexico and all legal formalities will be done in the States when we return.
  2. Your wedding wad so beautifully coordinated and well executed. Congrats!
  3. So true, I am one of the brides who has brought this up in a few threads. I'm a big fan of eating clean and weight training. I also considered writing a thread similar to this but I was afraid to come off as being preachy. I think you hit the nail right on the head and I hope the information will be well received. Another thing that you touched on was someone who says that they want to lose X lbs, when it’s more beneficial to concentrate on body fat %. There's a difference between body fat and lean muscle. It’s easy to get obsessed with the weight that shows-up on the scale, which doesn’t take either of these into consideration. I personally have weighed 162 lbs with 34% body fat (55lbs of fat) and dropped down to 148 lbs with 18% (26 lbs of fat). Based on my scale I only lost 16 lbs, but looking at body fat %, I lost half of my original body fat which is close to 28 lbs (difference in weight is due to gained muscle mass). And it’s really important to know if the weight that you are losing is actually fat (good) or muscle(bad).
  4. No photographer at the moment. I am still getting over my disappointment of not being able to book Elizabeth Medina. I knew she would be pricey, but she was grossly outside of our budget. I have found three alternates and will review their portfolios with my Fi this weekend. We are hoping to put in our deposit by the end of next week. Hmmm… I don’t know if it should be open to all BDW May 2013 Brides or specifically Cancun/Riviera Maya Brides??? I think it would be most beneficial to keep it open and people can make closer connections as they see fit. I think that the thread should go either here: Best Destination Wedding › Destination Weddings Forum › BDW General › General Wedding Planning Information Or here: Best Destination Wedding › Destination Weddings Forum › Destination Weddings in Mexico › Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
  5. I have been waiting for this planning thread ever since I discovered your 'Wedding Week Survival Bags' thread. I'm excited to see the details of your special day.
  6. I can see, and I'm so happy that I can. These are beautiful! Thank you.
  7. Wait, make that quadruplets! I just noticed TauruSmith’s wedding date Quote: Originally Posted by ChocoTaco7568 Why am I just realizing that we're wedding date twins? Actually triplets, Angela2013 is getting married on May 18, 2013 as well
  8. This is a great idea. There are so many of us getting married during this month and it will be a great place for us to get together and watch our plans evolve. And I think there's a benefit to us being on the same planning timetable. Let’s do it! Why am I just realizing that we're wedding date twins? Actually triplets, Angela2013 is getting married on May 18, 2013 as well
  9. Thanks for sharing your detailed wedding day outline, uhaft. I'm always curious as to how other Jade Brides have planned their day.
  10. I don't think there's a right or wrong answer in how this should be approached. I really think it's most important that it reflects the spirit of the couple. Do you want this to be formal or informal? Answering this question might help you decide.
  11. There are a few: shutterfly.com, Flickr.com, and Photobucket.com. just setup an account and you and your guests can upload photos
  12. Chartreuse and sangria (shade of green and purple). I think the chartreuse will be too dominant on its own, but it's my primary wedding color. I didn't want to use just sangria sashes, so I’ll use them both to achieve a layered look when tied. How about you?
  13. Doubt it... You'll just think of new projects that will continue to enhance your special day!
  14. I will be using two colors, I just like the look better especially for my color scheme. And I wasn't to concerned about the price since I will only have +/- 25 guests Quote: Originally Posted by bride81 Great find!!! What do you ladies think about doing 2 colors instead of 1??
  15. I don't know if this was exactly what you had in mind, but it's an option if you have a store nearby: http://www.containerstore.com/shop/giftPackaging/giftBoxes?productId=10003027&green=764F2E35-8871-5E12-B808-8B9A978F593E
  16. So we previously we discussed being on the same planning schedule since our weddings are both in May 2013, but you are way ahead of the curve. I might be more content follwoing in your footsteps cause your on a roll. Your venue is so picturesque, I love it. And the finished product of your bridesmaids cards are so pretty and professional. I can’t wait to see the rest of your DIY projects unfold.
  17. Since we are not doing STDs, when we send our wedding invites we will include magnets with our logo.
  18. We actually decided not to send out STDs, and will only send formal invitations 10 month in advance. Since we are aslo putting together a wedding website, we didn't personally see the value in doing both, but I prefer the formality of the wedding invite over the informal STD.
  19. Wow, great job on your card chest box and picture frames. This makes me want to try my hand at antiquing even though I have no reason to.
  20. Keep in mind that I will only have +/- 25 guests. Since prices for setting-up bride/groom furnished items isn't published anywhere, I could see some variation from one bridal couple to another. For instance if your total guest count is 100 people, I can see them charging for special ceremony or reception table set-up. All you can do is ask.

  22. Hey Mlite, I am only being charged $65 USD which includes ironing and tying my satin chair sashes for the ceremony and reception ($1/sash), and hanging my paper lanterns ($40 USD) for 30-40 lanterns. When I sent my inquiry for these items I also asked for the set-up fee for ceremony decor (fans, programs, sand ceremony), my specific reception table set-up (cylinder glass floating candle centerpieces, votive candles, maracas, table runners) and a few receptions items (framed signage, guestbook and pens). Per her email, this will all be set-up complimentary. I have a few additional items that I have yet to mention. But I wouldn't be surprised if she adds a fee for these, since it will become more labor intensive. Either way, as long as my set-up fees stay under $100, I'll be happy. With all my DIY projects and scoping out best deals, I'm saving a lot more money than if i were to get these items direct from the resort or another vendor. Quote: Originally Posted by Mlite83 Just wondering if you have a quote from Pilar on how much the set-up fee is for items/decor you bring from home? Some resorts charge like crazy for this. I am hoping that is not the case with Now Jade! Thanks!
