  1. Welcome to BDW and congrats on your engagement! It nice to see another May 2013 bride. There are actually quite a few of us and we have our own thread. In addition to the thousands of informative threads that BDW has to offer, it's nice to get the May 2103 brides together since we'll pretty much have the same planning timeline and can face hurdles and milestone collectively. Enjoy BDW! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/79118/may-2013-brides
  2. Our invite list maxes at 36, 18 of which will definitely attend and we anticipate 25 guests total. We only invited imediate family (parents, siblings, neither of us have living grandparents) and our close friends. Or gueslist consists of those that we truely want to be part of our day, and not based on expectation. A close and intimate wedding was our objective.
  3. Hey NewBride, If you already know the specific resort that you want to book for your wedding celebration, than I would put a deposit in now to secure your wedding date, and continue to watch room rate prices. I know that there are a few resorts that offer a 100% refund on deposits as long as you cancel 6 months prior to your wedding date. I suggest this because April, May and June are the most popular months for destination weddings and wedding dates get booked-up pretty quick. My Fi and I actually had our wedding date reserved at two resorts until we could decide. But our specific wedding date was very important to us. Good luck! And by the way, are you working with a TA, if your not, this might have an impact on the rates you've received so far. I know the prices can be lower for the resorts we are looking at. Does anyone recommend waiting until 9 months before etc? Any tips or advice would be really helpful!! Thanks!
  4. I actually considered a very similar scheme: burlap, lace, ivory and chartreuse but I quickly realized that for me to execute my vision my cost would be more than I budgeted for. While I don't have a "theme" my colors are chartreuse and sangria and I'm pretty happy with what I've been able to put together so far. Quote: Originally Posted by Dazeydawl Hey ladies! 5. Hey cinnagirl, We're in the same boat and I think we're planning at a good pace. Dress purchased Wedding venue booked Group rates secured/rooms blocked Photographer booked Best Man and Woman confirmed (this is the extent of our bridal Party) My big project right now is completing my wedding website by the end of May. And I have finalized my design for my wedding invites (not doing STDs). I'll be assembleing them in May and mailing sometime in June.
  6. http://www.paperlanternstore.com/evriropala.html they have a great color and size selection.
  7. After a few months of consideration, I think I have settled on 'Here and Now' by Luther Vandross for my processional. I'm still trying to wrap my head around having lyrics; I think I've grown accustomed to traditional instrumentals for processions. But this song evokes the emotions that I want, and I get a bit giddy when I hear it and can picture my Fi and I very clearly .
  8. Hey there and welcome to BDW. I had already narrowed down the resorts that I was interested in prior to finding my TA. So I already made contact and was aware of which resorts had my specific date available. Of the four resorts that I contacted (all AM Resorts) I received a response anywhere between 2 to 48 hours from my initial inquiry. Once I found my TA (who I totally love) and sent my initial inquiry with the names of the resorts, she forward group rates 2 hours later for all four. In most cases, it should be easier for a TA to get in touch with the resort wedding coordinator because most have long standing relationships in place. If this doesn't seem to be true, than I would take some initiative and contact the resorts directly and maybe look for another TA.
  9. I think the tradtion of wearing white is specific to the wedding day, and some brides have adopted this standard to apply to the welcome and/or rehearsal dinner. Is there a theme or dress code color for your guests during the welcome dinner?
  10. I don't know the answer to your question. In the event that Ana was your wedding coordinator, I wanted to inform you that she no longer works for the resort which might be why you're not receiving a response.
  11. And all this time I thought you were already a Now Jade Bride... Congrats officially on choosing a resort! Let us know when you have a date confirmed.
  12. This has been discussed in great length in the following thread: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/41422/customs-in-mexico-an-effort-to-gather-the-info-in-one-thread Happy planning
  13. It's official, my Fi and I have a best man and woman ( I'm not fond of the title maid of honor). We took them out to happy hour to pop the question and we're currently enjoying opening game night for the Seattle Mariners!
  14. I say book it and give your self time to think about it. The nice thing about Dreams and Now Resorts is that the wedding deposit is 100% refundable as long as you cancel 6+ month prior to the event. But at least you know your date is confirmed, which might not be a true statement if you wait to long. April thru June wedding dates get booked up pretty quick in the Riviera Maya. I initially had a deposit at two locations just to secure the date until My Fi and I could decide.
  15. Love the water bottles and thanks for sharing the webiste, although I find myself looking at everything else except the water bottles which is what I initially was looking for.
  16. I love eBay! I never purchase anything without first making an offer, and more often then not they accept or counter. I've scored some pretty sweet deals during my many years of eBay shopping!
  17. Does anyone know what photography company Now Jade contracts with? Do they have a website and current portfolio or blog?
  18. I’ve already replied to this thread but It’s so interesting reading through the various responses. We never considered asking either of our parents for financial support, although this may be due to the fact that they contributed toward the down payment on our home two years ago - yes we put the cart before the horse, but we wanted to take advantage of the $8K government incentive.
  19. +1, I think OOTs 'kill two birds with one stone'. Quote: Originally Posted by beachbride2013 We are just giving OOT bags, no favors.
  20. Kudos to you, these look awesome. I think this DIY project would really try my patience, but I think I might try my luck. If at first I don’t succeed, there’s always Etsy!
  21. +1, I love my TA and can't believe that I almost chose not to use one. What a big mistake that would have been. I will say It's really important to find a great TA, I have heard unfortunate horror stories.
  22. Well done marilili! I love the feminine touch of the lace bellyband and your boarding confirmation RSVP is great.
  23. I really haven't given this much thought and maybe it's because I have a relatively small group. As of now my room block is setup for a check-in on 5/14 and checkout 5/20. I know that many of my guest will use this time for personal vacations, and some will probably stay else where for the beginning or the end, but I am requesting that everyone stay at the AI between 5/16 and 5/19.
  24. This thread is one of the reasons that BDW is so great. I would love to see this thread revamped. I know that our collective resources have grown exponentially since this thread originated 4-5 years ago. I’m only in the beginning phases of planning, but will be sure to come back as wedding plans and purchases increase.
