Hmmm, lets see if I can help... Stardream Crystal on Paperpresentation - you can find this brand and color on other websites cheaper. I only purchased from here because of their customer service, Lime Metallic envelopes and discount. And by the way, it's actually 105lb not 120lb as listed. I spoke with their customer service about this and I don't know why they wont change it. http://www.paperpresentation.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PPN&Product_Code=P_L12240&Category_Code=ALL_COVER Cheaper site: http://www.paper-papers.com/Stardream-Metallic-85-x-11-Cardstock-Paper-CRYSTAL-25-PK.html I used the Aylee bits template for the boarding passes and changed the width to 3.5". I deleted the last pass and made my own luggage tag. I just played around with rectangle l:w ratios (3.25"x4.8") and different angles: http://www.ayleebits.com/2006/06/10/diy-boarding-pass-save-the-date/ Yes, all envelopes were purchased and the sleeve was made from 8 1/2"x11" cardstock. You can use either of the templates in the link above (Aylee). I didn't use a template, it wasn't necessary for the sleeve that I wanted. I just did a trifold and cut one end down to 2.5" and at cut off a 30degree angle. Hope this helps.

OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread
ChocoTaco7568 replied to TATrisha's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
It could potentially be the same... The wedding day pass is the same price for a 1/2 day pass(5 or 6 hours) I think a full day pass is $100 or $110, but I don't know how meals and drinks get factored in -

OMG, you're lucky number 5 (maybe six) on BDW getting married on May 18,2013 in the Riviera Maya. Congrats and welcome!

Thanks Oksana. Most of my time spent was scrutinizing over the design, and fortunately I’m only making 20 invites. I give a lot of credit to the brides who put 50 or 100+ of these invites together. They’re definitely time consuming, but well worth the effort especially if you have the time and can solicit help from friends and family. I don’t see why you can’t create something fantastic on a Mac, I didn’t use any pro software when creating my invites (although it would have made my life easier). In terms of cost, my invites came out to approximately $3.25 per invite compared to $5.50+ if they were professionally done. If I had made more, than the price per invite would have been even cheaper, but I do have material left over that I will us towards other DIY wedding projects. Since I only made 20, I wasn’t really looking for a huge cost savings, but liked the challenge of creating these on my own and it was something personal for my guests. Thanks for the compliment Dazeydawl!

MY SPIEL (feel free to skip to the pics): I do not consider myself to be a creative person, so in no way can I take credit for the originality of my boarding pass invites. But I am a very detail oriented and I have gleaned so much insight and inspiration from the ladies of BDW which resulted in my DIY success. Without this forum, Google image search, and perusing invite galleries on Etsy, my boarding pass invites would have never come to fruition. So, I say thank you to everyone. DESIGN: MS Word 2010, it’s what I’m most comfortable with and I used the Aylee Bits Template which is in Word. The only change is that I made my boarding pass width 3.5â€. My luggage tag RSVP is the end result of messing around with different angles and length to width ratios. All images are from Google. My final invites were my fourth design attempt and my Fi actually liked them. And thank God, because I don’t think I had it in me to try again. The pics below are my first test run, and there are minor things that I still need to address. I will assemble 20 invites. CARDSTOCK: If you’re not in a rush, I suggest ordering samples since colors can be really hard to discern on a computer screen, especially metallic. I received 14 samples which was a huge help since my colors are very specific and I like to have options. You would be amazed at how many white metallic/pearlescent cardstock options exist and how the same color from different manufacturers can really vary. Paperpresentation.com – Great inventory and good customer service, but not the cheapest prices you will find. I was only okay with this because I came in under budget for all my tools. They were also the only vendor that I found who carried no. 10 envelopes in the metallic color that I wanted (Curious - Lime Metallic) I order my no. 10 envelopes, 4Bar RSVP envelopes and 110lb cardstock for the boarding pass and sleeves from this vendor. Boarding pass is printed on Stardream – Crystal Metallic 105lb cardstock. I bought the remaining card stock for the bellyband and miscellaneous trim from Michaels (Recollections - Sparkling Merlot Metallic 65lb cardstock). A few things to note: Michael’s specialty cardstock is sold per single sheet (retail $.59 and up, but purchased at $.13 w/ discounts and promos). Potential downside depending on use and personal preference is that it’s only finished on one side, the 12â€x12†dimensions and it’s a 65lb cardstock. I don’t know if these stats apply to the Bezel cardstock that they also carry. PAPER CUTTER/TRIMMER XACTO Paper Trimmer 26358 – this is a guillotine style (arm w/ blade) which I used for cutting multiple sheets, strips and anything that didn’t require exact precision (okay if off by an 1/8â€) and it has guidelines for cutting at specific angles. My company has an abnormally high number of these and a couple new units in stock. I figured I had nothing to lose, and asked if I could borrow one. Definitely made my life easier, huge time saver, also very accurate. Fiskar 12†Surecut Deluxe – Borrowed from a friend and purchased replacement blades at Michaels at 40% off. I used this for cutting my boarding passes. EK Success Small Corner Punch – This had the highest and most consistent review on amazon, so I went with it. It performs quite well, and the rounded corners are the perfect radius for boarding passes. $4.99 + free ship on eBay. MISC Adhesive – Zips double sided permanent adhesive lines 1/8â€x32’ purchased at Michaels at 40% off. I was nervous to use glue, I thought I would get sloppy and inconsistent results. I also purchased 10 yards of wine pearlescent raffia ribbon $4.50 + free ship on eBay and regular raffia ribbon from Michaels at 40% off . My wrap around address labels are just the Stardream Crystal 65lb cardstock cut to 8.5â€x2.2â€strips. I didn’t use a bone folder, my butter knife was just fine. I might be forgetting something so let me know if you have any questions. 1 DIY project down, many more to go.. Onto the pics! I’M USING MY DROID AS A CAMERA, AND THE COLORS ARE REALLY OFF, BUT I WAS TOO ANXIOUS AND WANTED TO POST.

Hey cinnagirl, I unfortunately know exactly how you feel. My Fi and I had a long conversation about this when putting together our guest list and we came to the agreement that we would not invite people to our wedding based on expectations or guilt especially since we are paying for the wedding on our own. This statement applied to family and friends and accounts for why we only anticipate +/- 25 guests at our wedding. We wanted a close and intimate wedding with those that we love and care about and where feeling are mutual in regards to us. Speaking specifically to family, if they haven’t taken an active interest in our lives and who we are (both individually and as a couple), it just didn’t make sense for them to witness and celebrate one of the most important day’s in our lives. It would just be too phony. We have 28 aunts and uncles (including spouses) between the two of us and we’re only inviting 6 of them. I’m not even inviting my father, because I don’t think he deserves to be there. We spoke with our parents regarding our guest list, and they back us 100%. I think this is just an unfortunate reality for some families, and weddings call attention to it. I firmly believe that the estranged family members who want to come to my wedding, want the invite for the wrong reasons. I don’t think it has anything to do with my FI and I uniting as one or an effort to rekindle our relationship. Best of luck with your guest list decision. Follow your heart and everything will work out the way it’s supposed to.

Tentative plans are to arrive Monday or Tuesday and we get married on Saturday. We just wanted a few days to spend time with our family and friends. Our honeymoon kicks in the day after we get married which is strictly newlywed time!

Agreed. I think it's hard to make the decision without seeing the dress -
Your welcome! My Fi and I had two wedding deposits with resorts that offered a full refund. Our specific wedding date was very important to us since it’s our anniversary and it’s also on a Saturday evening which seems to get booked quicker than other days and times of the week. I’m definitely glad that I didn’t wait, because there are 5 Brides on just on BDW with the same wedding date and two of them are getting married at resorts that I originally considered. If you don’t have a specific date in May, day of the week or even time of day that you want to get married, and if you haven’t found a venue that “feels right†then I say wait until after your site visits to worry about wedding deposits. We didn’t have the benefit of completing a site visit for any of our top venues. We pretty much trusted the advice of BWD, our TA, and Tripadvisor when making our final selection. We are planning on going to the Riviera Maya the last week of July 2012 to visit places and do all the planning we can onsite. My FI doesn't want to decide until we do site visits in July!! Do you ladies think it's a big risk? Should I book places now that give 100% refund 6 months before the wedding? I have looked a lot on-line but nothing seems right... Yeah $500/night is definitely pricey. Hopefully things come together for you soon especially confirmation of Cloisters for your venue (fingers crossed).

I was also considering the masculine and feminine symbolism with burlap and lace. I thought it would make the decor and theme or our wedding reflect both of us not just me and my Fi was really into it too. But he also likes with chartreuse and sangria since the colors are “bold and not to girlyâ€. I'm overwhelmed just reading the description of your theme. But I've just started looking through your blog and I have full faith that it will turn out beautifully and well executed. I love chartreuse, it's my favorite color. I don't think it's done much in weddings simply because it's hard to pull of. It's not the easiest color to shop for everything, is lime, olive or mint, not quite chartreuse.

Allie and Miss Bubbles No Need to feel behind, we still have 13 months! That’s the great thing about the May 2013 thread, we get to share our journey and keep each other on track and inspired. If anything some of us might be ahead of the curve a bit. I know that TauruSmith, Bride81 and I are all having our weddings at various AM All-inclusive resorts in the Riviera Maya which might be why we’re able to have room rates secured and everything booked. My wedding has been reserved since January and I signed my contract for group rates and my room block in March (all of which are based on 2012 rates). The only unknown is airfare since flights won’t be published until June. And since I have people flying in from 5 different states I wasn’t trying to get a packaged flight/accomodations deal.
