+1... I have a bit of an obsessive personality and my Fi tends to get overwhelmed with excessive details. So o pretty much present 2-3 options to him for us to discuss and choose from. But he has been involved and has an opinion on everything, he just let's me do all the upfront research - wedding venue, photographer, colors/theme, invites, professional song- the only two he doesn't care about is decor and my wedding dress. I am actually among the group of brides who hasn't been planning my wedding day since I was littl. The only thing I knew prior to my engagement is that I'm not traditional and never wanted to marry in a church. .

Shan is correct, but as an additional FYI, they typically start the sale with a 4 for $1, the following week it will be 5 for $1, then 6 for $1 and sometimes 7 for $1, however, if you wait for the best deal than you might also risk limited inventory, because a lot of scrapbookers take advantage of these sales too.

Hey Allie, It sucks that you're having such a hard time with your dress search. I found my BM dress on dillards.com. Have you used shopstyle.com to look for dresses by color? When I typed in coral dress it returned 138 options, and 142 when searching for orange. Aside from the stores you already listed, I can't think of anything else at the moment. If I come across something I'll be sure to let you know.

Ugh, I totally feel your pain. These were my exact sentiments with my first 3 attempts when creating my boarding pass invites; Push through and it will all be worth it in the end. Unfortunately I can't help with a template since I did boarding passes. Nut if you post what you have so far, I would be more than happy to hopefully provide you with some helpful feedback. Hopefully someone can post a template for you.

I’m so happy for us BDW May 18th Brides - Bride81, TauruSmith, Angela2013, Eyeball17, (definitely missing a 5/18 Bride in this line up) and now you! Officially 1 year and counting. I’m definitely not worried about the weather as I have been to the RM twice, once late April the other time mid-May. And the forecast called for lightning and thunderstorms almost every day of both our vacations but we never saw one drop of rain, and only one morning with a cloudy sky. Many Locals told us that they never pay attention to the weather until later in the summer because it's always wrong. Hopefully the weather trends similarly in Punta Cana.

Thank you and definitely keep us posted, especially when you find the one! Thanks! I don't know how you're resisting the temptaion and holding off until September! I'll sit patiently and wait for the post when you announce your dream dress!

That’s what I assumed, just looking for reassurance. I know some couples contract their photographer for 8-10 hours which makes me instantly feel like I’m missing something. But then again, I am having a small scale wedding +/- 25 guests, no DJ etc. Either way, I’ll let you know what feedback I get from my photographer regarding the timeline.

Looking forward to spending the next year chatting with you all -Kristie Hey Kristie, Welcome to BDW and the May 2013 thread! I definitely use to spend countless hours looking at wedding dresses. I knew exactly what I wanted and thought it would make things easier, but it was definitely a full time job trying to find it. In the end two dresses stole my heart both of which I specifically had my local boutique bring in, but one would have broken my dress budget which made the decision easier ( I would still be debating about which dress to choose). Good luck with your dress search, what's your criteria so far?

http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/74113/mrstguns-planning-updates-pic-heavy-final-planning-post-page-65-post-642 This is the link to one of my favorite BDW brides. All of her purple beach themed DIY project are peppered through the 70+ page thread. Her colors were purple, silver, white and black and definitely beachy. I also like Dazeydawl's suggestions of purple and teal. And while fuschia and orange are beautiful colors for a destination wedding, I feel like it's a bit typical.

Thanks for all the feedback ladies. It seems like most of you will have or want a private ‘First Look’ shoot and Newlywed shoot, which makes sense. So I was playing around with my wedding photo coverage timeline and came up with the following. I also pushed everything back by 30 minutes to factor in the sunset but I’m waiting to hear back from my Photographer for his input. If he says that the 30 minutes won’t make a difference, than the ceremony will start at 5:00pm. And I think we’ll stick around for the first 10-15 minutes of the happy hour before leaving our guests to take newlywed photos. Here goes: 4:00pm – 4:45pm Getting ready photos 4:45pm – 5:15pm The First Look and pre-ceremony photos (Bride and Groom Only) 5:30pm – 6:00pm Ceremony 6:00pm – 6:30pm Congratulations toast / group and family photos 6:30pm – 7:30pm Cocktail hour/newlywed photos 7:30pm – 9:00pm Dinner reception coverage (Toasts from BM, MOH, Parents; first dance; cake cutting) As of now, I’m only contracting my photographer for 5 hours, but adding the ‘First Look’ photos has taken away from my ‘Getting Ready’ photos and I’m worried that I’m not giving myself enough time up front and I don’t want to feel rushed. Do you think I need to add another hour of coverage or should this be sufficient? I don’t really want to pay for the extra hour unless it’s worth it.

I need some input from my May brides regarding photography. When are you ladies taking your newlywed photos – before or after the ceremony? I see pros and cons with both options, but can’t make up my mind. As of now, my ceremony will commence at 5:00pm, cocktail hour at 6:00pm and dinner reception at 7:00pm. The sun sets in the Riviera Maya around 7:20pm in the month of May and I really want to capitalize on getting great newlywed shots during this time, I might even push my timeline back by 30 min. So as of right now, I’m planning on taking newlywed shots after the ceremony, during the cocktail hour, but I hate that my guest will be waiting around for us and we don’t even get to enjoy our own cocktail hour. On the flip side, I love the idea of the big reveal when I walk down the aisle and my Fi sees me for the first time. And I don’t necessarily want to take newlywed pics at 3:30pm when the sun is strongest and I’m in my silk wedding dress on the brink of sweating my tushy off. Thoughts, comments, suggestions….I’m all ears.

In my opinion, July seems way too early to request an RSVP for an april 2013 wedding. My RSVP date is 2 weeks prior to the deadline for canceling any unbooked rooms in my reserved room block without penalty. This works out to be 14 weeks prior to my wedding date which I think is adequae time for my guests to decide and plan financially and It gives me enough time to coordinate the final details... decor, pre travel packages etc.

Show off your shoes....
ChocoTaco7568 replied to twinkletoes's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I’m hoping that my BDW family can help me with my search for the perfect pair of green shoes – chartreuse/lime/celery green to be exact. I have my heart set on wearing green sandals (or at least a peep-toe) but this search is proving to be a mission impossible. All of the shoes that I like are either to old of a style that they are no longer available for purchase, too expensive (over $200), wrong shade of green, or a random google image with no info on the designer/brand or the heel is too high. I am 5’10†and need the shoe to be under 3†. If any of you happen to stumble upon a green shoe that my fit the bill please let me know. Any leads would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for your help. -
Hey Mlite! The entree options will be available when I publish my site in June and I'm not getting married until May 2013. My expectation is that my invited guests will have enough courtesy to seriously think about their decision to attend my wedding when submitting their RSVP and not flip-flop about their decision (fingers crossed). Granted, things happen, and I get that. However, I think that by having the RSVP available at the same time as the entree selection will actually eliminate the possiblity of people forgetting to make a selection later.

OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread
ChocoTaco7568 replied to TATrisha's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
I do, and you can PM me your email address. However, I would advise making contact with Pilar first in order to confirm that your date and preferred locations are available. I'm sorry that you have not received a response to your inquiries. It is the peak wedding season in the Riviera Maya, and I know that Pilar is flying solo and has double the work load these days. -

Does anyone know if children ages 0-2 count towards your guest count? -
I've got to admit that I love the idea of a navy and watermellon/fuschia, probably because it's not the typical color scheme for a destination wedding. I love bold color schemes and I think they make for a great complimentary contrast to a beach backdrop. My colors are chartreuse and sangria. My colors were inspired by a green cymbidium orchid, which is my favorite flower. I love them, feminine bright, and my Fi approved and actually likes them. My suggestion is to play around with creating inspiration color boards to to see what combinations really speak to you and your Fi. There are also plenty to look at on google.

ChocoTaco7568 replied to preciosa41987's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
+1, our date is our anniversary and we also booked 15 months in advance. Every place that we looked at had our date available.
