  1. Hey mslamb, welcome to BDW and congrats in your engagement! The link below is to the May 2013 Brides link and there are dozens of us and a couple of ladies who share your wedding date. F BDW is a great resource, eel free to ask any questions and Happy Planning! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/79118/may-2013-brides/
  2. My sash rental fee was also $5/chair and I believe this is the fee at all AM resorts (Now, Dreams, and Secrets). The ironing and setup fee is only $1/chair and covers the ceremony and reception setup.
  3. I know that many brides (obviously not all) request that the resort iron the sashes prior. The fee for doing this in addition to purchasing your own sashes, is still cheaper than renting from the resort.
  4. Renting them didn't seem to be cheaper (at least not from the vendors that I found). I would suggest buying them, and if you can find them used and in the the colors you need, than even better. I would say that you have time to shop around and wait it out to see if a great deal pops us somewhere for used sashes. And check out ebay occasionally. I already bought mine on ebay - 50 sashes for $15, they were used but in perfect condition and the exact color i color i needed. And there are plenty of BDW brides selling sashes too.
  5. If you click on the red outline a format tab should pop up on your toolbar at the top of the window (File, Home, Insert… Format) Select ‘Shape Outline’ and change the color. Or if you really want to, while the outline is selected you can delete by pushing the ‘Delet’ key on your keyboard. I actually used a different format and made luggage tag rsvps. Here’s a link to my DIY Invites: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/79434/chocotaco-s-diy-orchid-boarding-pass-invitations
  6. I also did boarding pass invites, and I would imagine that you want to keep the border lines so you know where to cut once they are printed. I would suggest changing them to a light shade of grey, and don't delete them
  7. These are great and will work perfectly with your theme. I prefer the second and agree with Erica that it seems more balanced.
  8. Thanks for the feedback ladies. This is definitely reassuring since we will be scripting our own ceremony and it would be really unfortunate if our guests don't understand what's was being said.
  9. +1... I have visited the area in April 2009 and May 2011 and only got 1 bite between both trips and didn't take any preventative measures. I forgot to pack repellent, but obviously didn't need it. I too have really bad reactions to mosquitoes so its something that I pay attention to.
  10. Lynn - I love the new pic! I thought someone knew joined the thread... L The two of you look great together.

Your photos are phenomal and congrats to you and your groom! I do have a couple of questions whenever you get a moment: Did you have the resorts officiant marry you? if so what did you and your guest think of his/her accent, was it thick and hard to understand? What are your suggestions/tips for safely traveling with glass vases and avoiding items from breaking i.e. bubble wrap, hardcase luggage...? Thanks
  12. Vanessa and David are also members here on BDW... I can't recall her username, but if you search 'amazing passport invites now jade' you will find them.
  13. Love it... Your eggplants is very close, if not identical to my sangria color for my wedding theme. Great minds think alike!
  14. Hmmm, eggplant, I like it! And thanks for the tour info too.
  15. If you feel comfortable enough sending me a PM with your template i can see if it's something I can help with... I'm pretty proficient in Word.
  16. Hey Angela, Although I didn't do passport invites myself, I have helped other brides create their templates, and as far as I know, their test prints have printed okay. What program did you use? did you double check your margins? Did you turn on your gird to verify alignment? When you choose double sided printing are you printing along the short edge or the long edge? An easy fix (dependent on your design) might be to extend the image area in both directions by and 1/8" or so to compensate for the misalignment which will give you some play when you cut out the invites - Does that make sense? Let me know if any of this helps, I'm sure there's away to get this right without re-inventing the wheel.
  17. We used weddingwindow.com. It was free, easy to use/navigate, great site options and themes, multiple RSVP event options for your guest and a few other tools, which I didn't bother using but may be handy for other brides.
  18. To all recent Brides or those who have inquired: Are the Bride and Groom included in the 25 guest list count? Shannonmarie asked this question a week or two ago and I’ve been really curious as to what the accurate answer is. I would ask Pilar, but since we’re in the midst of peak wedding season, I just assumed that I would probably get a quicker response here on BDW. Thanks
  19. Welcome to BDW and the May 2013 thread. If you sent out STDs then I assume you have a date and venue selected. If so, then you have a great start. You definitely have time and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Happy planning!
  20. Pretty good actually, I definitely ahead of the curve. I initially didn't like the idea of a long engagement (17 months), but I'm so greatful for it now. And for you?
  21. I love seeing your PB pop up. It's a great choice and it looks fantastic on you! I'm suprised that I have taken the opportunity to post my dress more frequently, maybe becuase I don't have a pic of me actually in it. Oh well, soon enough!
  22. Hey Carolyn. I just saw your beautiful photos on Sascha's blog and came over to this thread to see if you were a BDW bride...and here you are! I've contracted his services for my May 2013 wedding and have become quite the stalker of his blog. Any-who, congrats on getting married and do you mind if I ask where you got your BM dresses or who they're by? It looks like the color that I've been on a hunt for. Thanks.
  23. I think all brides need to define ‘the moment’ for themselves. Mine wasn't cliché by any means but it was definitely a moment of pure elation. It was me, and everything that I wanted and I didn’t want to take it off. I expected to have this tears of joy emotional reaction, because I thought that’s what it meant to find the one, but as the search for the perfect dress started I realized that the reaction I was seeking didn’t align with the person that I am.
