Thanks Allie! Oddly enough, Justin has periodically watched SYTTD with me even prior to the engagement, so he should know that I plan on watching it after the wedding too.

I have no clue what came over me...hours later I felt better about my choice after looking at the pics, but that initial thought of doubt scared me. Maybe it was just all the excitement and build up to that day...who knows! I just wish that did not happen initially. :-( I had ordered an accessory belt to bling up the dress a bit. I was planning to tie as a bow in the back and not sew/attach to the dress. However, now I am unsure. My Mom & Nanny seem to think the dress alone, without the belt, is the way to go. Mom thought the bow took away from the beauty of the back of the dress. My best friend thought the bling of the belt was "me" and perhaps sew the belt onto the dress, bling in front, however, no bow in back, just sew the ribbon to back of dress to the center zipper. My other girlfriend thought the bow in the back was simple and romantic. Now I am on the fence. I was looking to have the belt and match my jewelry with it. Just some hanging earrings and a bracelet (no necklace since I'd have the bling of the belt). Also, no veil, just a tropical flower in my hair. I would love any input you ladies may have. Here are pics from Saturday with and without the belt/bow. Thanks girls! xoxo I’m sorry that trying your dress on again didn’t evoke the feelings that you anticipated, but rest assured this dress is gorgeous and you look fantastic in it. Regarding the sash, I’ve also contemplated whether I should wear one and if I should sew or tie it on. I also have a lace mermaid and maybe my thought process will help a bit. I think in most cases a sash helps to define the waist and can really enhance the overall silhouette, especially with mermaids. I know that many think that lace is beautiful on its on (which it is) and doesn’t need the help of a blinged-out sash, but I think of them as the icing on the cake. If there is no other bling on the dress, it can help to jazz it up a bit and it’s a detail that really makes the dress yours. So I vote for the sash. I haven’t decided whether I will so sew or tie my sash, but I’m leaning towards sewing. I have a button closure down the back of the bodice and I love buttons, they were a dress requirement for me. I don’t want the tied sash to take away from my buttons - I can’t tell if your dress has buttons, but I know many Palomas do. With that said, I am looking for embellishment that will wrap all the way around my waist. But if I can’t find one in my budget that I like, then I will go with a tied sash. Dependent on the length, I think it may look odd to have the embellishment just “floating†on the dress. I also agree with your friend that the tied sash adds a romantic touch, but I feel that I’m already achieving that with the lace
  3. Thank you! Doubt it, I'm sure yours turned out beautifully... Thanks for the compliment I bought a new pair of scissors and just took my time. Also, my template had a faint grey outline that I used as cutting guidelines.

Does anyone know what the day pass fee is for the wedding day and is this the same for any other days they might want to visit the resort? Thanks! Lauren Hi Lauren, the wedding day guest pass is $55, but keep in mind that 80% of your guests need to stay at the Resort. Regarding your budget, your best bet is it get an itemized list and send it to Pilar for pricing. If you want to know the total cost you're going to incur then this is the only way to do it. Unfortunately the cost for every item/option hasn't been published by the resort and while this forum is a great place to get a rough idea, you will not be able to hold the resort accountable based on pricing you see in these threads. There are many set-up fees and concessions that have been waived or swaped at the discretion of the resort. I'm sure there are many variables that play into this that we may not have insight on. If Pilar quotes you a higher rate than what you have seen based on posts in this thread, then i would take it at face value and be pleasantly surprised if the cost don't show up or get discounted on your final invoice.

Now I'm torn between trying on more dresses to see what else is out there or just buying that dress. Theres a trunk sale at the store this weekend so it makes it even more stressful for me. Help! I want to upload a pic but Im on my phone and don't know how to. My best advise is not to rush this experience unless you truely have a time crunch. I would try on more dresses and if in the end your heart brings you back to this one atleast you will have the reassurnace from the expereience that you made the right choice. Good luck.
  7. Thanks for all the compliments ladies. I'm surprised I ended up with a lace dress. I love lace but often felt like a doily in wedding dresses that were lace from head-to-toe. I was actually done with my bridal appointment, left the store in disappointment, saw this dress on the mannequin in the window and went back in to try it on. If you’re interested, there’s a pic of my original dress if you go to my profile Quote: Originally Posted by uhura526 Are you going to have Jasmine's do this or did you already purchase the original at the bridal salon? Another beautiful dress, but I can see how she might feel more "bride-ish" in this second dress. No, I bought this dress today. I was considering Jasmines for my TTD dress, but now that I bought a second dress, the Jasmines TTD dress is on hold until I get my first dress sold. I considered Jasmines for a split second but since I’m picky with lace, I didn’t trust that they could find the fabric to replicate it; it’s a swiss dot tulle with lace embroidery. And the price was right so I didn’t feel the need to gamble with Jasmines.
  8. So I officially cheated on my dress, and quite frankly, I’m happy I did. Long story short I was watching an episode of SYTTD with my Fi and my dress happened to be featured (no he didn’t know). He tends to freely voice his opinions about the dresses in the show and my dress was no exception… “That’s an interesting dress, but it doesn’t look suitable for a wedding. If it wasn’t white you wouldn’t know it was a wedding dressâ€. You know what, he was right. While I love every detail of my dress and think it reflects my personality to a ‘T’ it never gave me a bridal feeling which is a pretty important factor to overlook. And after having this conversation and trying my dress on again I knew I couldn’t were it on our wedding day. Any-who, here’s dress #2, not sure about the veil or the sash, but the dress is a definite keeper…
  9. Wow, this is turning out beautifully. You're going to look fantastic! Do you mind if I ask what grades you went with for fabric and craftsmanship?
  10. I had similar concerns...I selected a few days over the summer to do full face make-up test I choose days were the high was 90 + and went to Sephora twice and MAC once. Make-up was applied between 10:00 and noon. The task - I wanted to be tear-proof, transfer-proof, sweat proof, able to endure humidity, photo ready, 12+ hours of wear and something that wouldn't make me shiny. The best result was Smashbox Studio Skin + Hourglass Veil as a primer = Perfection! I went to the gym on these days, watched a movie that I knew would make me cry, and checked transferability by blotting my face with a white shirt throughout the day. MAC was a total fail but I will be using there shadows for my eyes.
  11. Awesome...Kudos on getting so many things done; you've been a busy bee. I cant wait to see your e-pics and invites. Oh, and congrats on saying yes to the dress again. I'm glad that you followed your heart and found something that made you feel comfortable and more bridal. You made a great choice and I love the pleated ruffles.
  12. Yay, so happy for you and I'm glad your dress met all of your expectations. It's beautiful and fit's perfectly.I love all the trexture/dimension... Congrats!
  13. My wedding is also 7 months away (May 18th) and the only people who have booked aside from the two of us are our parents (airfare not included). With our group rate contract, prices are locked and the only variable for my guests is airfare. I know that many haven’t booked for this reason, and they’re waiting to see how much airfare will drop before completing their reservations as it may impact how many nights they choose to stay. I'm not worried yet, I expect to see some booking momentum in the next 3-4 months, but if not I can't and won't worry about the either.

  15. The plum and lime green will provide a great contrast. As far as planning with Now Jade, I haven’t had any problems and they typically respond to all of my inquires within 48 hours. Like many BDW brides, I have taken on many DIY project and will provide most of my décor. My primary objective with planning is to ensure that I have what I need and want, stay organized and outline set-up requirements for the wedding coordinators use. This isn’t a reflection on whether or not I think my Resort is capable of coordinating a wedding, but a means to cut cost and manage my budget. I’m definitely looking forward to having my wedding at Now Jade, and am confident that I chose the perfect resort (within my budget) for my wedding and guests. Let me know if you have any other questions.
  16. I have a similar color scheme of Chartreuse and Sangria
  17. Hey Khunt - I checked both Expedia.com and Hotels.com. I also Tried Orbitz.com but kept getting an error message stating the my request couldn't be processed. I haven't contacted the resort or my TA to verify, simply because it didn't mattter to me since I have rooms blocked. But this was the first time that I went to check prices and started seeing 'Sold Out' notices.
  18. Craziest thing (actually not that crazy)... I periodically check rates at my resort to make sure that my Group Rate is still the best price and this Saturday I found out that my resort is sold out for my wedding week. Good thing I blocked rooms. I expected this to happen but not until after the new year. Has this happended with anyone else yet?

  20. LOL... so true. I read your message and thought nothing of it. I'm from the east coast but live in the pacific NW now and whenever I through that word out in conversation, people look at me funny.
