Show us your wedding dress!
ChocoTaco7568 replied to Jennifer's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
The verdict is till out on the veil, I mostly want one for photos ops and and it's the cherry on top for my complete bridal look/feel. I went with a different sash since I wasn't in love with the one that came with the Rivoli and went with this. The pic of the sash was one another dress I was considering, but I fell in love with it and have high hopes of it working perfectly with my Rivoli: Quote: Originally Posted by KaraMae You look stunning! I think I'll go with a beaded/blingy belt but am going to make my own since they are ridiculously expensive! My dress is a little long without the poof so I'll probably suck it up and wear wedges for the beach wedding (you won't be able to see them) and heels for my AHR. My Fiancé is 6'3 and I'm only 5'8, so I don't have to worry about heel height. Congrats again! That dress really looks amazing on you! You're right about how different it looks ok 2 separate people! I love this dress; without question one of my top five favs that I've seen here on BDW. I loved the mauve but the ivory looks beautiful and bridal... Fantastic choice and you look amazing in it! -

I didn't want you much of a poof bc we are boating back to a private island to get married and just didn't think it would work. It's such a timeless dress! I'll also be doing coral in my bouquet and shoes. DIY coral glitter shoes! Thanks for all the open opinions! It's nice to have the honesty!!! I'm in Portland. Since my Fi and I are both transplants we decided to have a DW in Puerto Morelos, MX. I thought the added poof gave for a more dramatic and Mexican Senorita feel (which I love). The pic is with a mermaid slip underneath which has 3 added layers of crinolin which was a bit much. Since I'm 5'10", I'm letting my shoe height dictate how much crinoline I add, if any, to avoid the added cost of hemming. I'm in my bare feet in this pic and can only wear an .5" heel with the full 3 layer crinoline slip. I can wear 3" heel if I forgo the slip altoghether. I can't wait to see yout DIY coral shoes. -

I Love your dress and it looks fantastic on you, but I'm also biased since I'm also wearing the Rivoli for my May 2013 wedding. It's crazy how the same dress can look different from one bride to the next, I knew it was similar to mine but almost didn't recognize it. But i also loved the poof and might add a layer of crinoline to emphasize ther mermaird sillhouette. I also agree with the previos posts to opt for a different sash that would fit with your vintage theme and maybe save the pop of color for your shoes. And by the way, are you an Oregonian? This looks like bridal exclusives in Clackamas. -
Justin and I have grand plans for our wedding photos and couldn't pass up this deal for canvas prints. The promotional value expires in August 2013, so plenty of time to get our pro pics back and pics the most cavas worthy! http://www.livingsocial.com/deals/614180-three-12x18-canvas-prints?ref=mobile-email-share-post-purchase&rpi=104494120&rui=19473692

A few BDW brides have done this and I think it's a great idea. I can only recall the user name of one bride and here's a pic and a link to her planning thread: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/78973/melissas-planning-journal-azul-sensatori -

BINGO! Try not to stress over factors that you haven't even inquired about. You are not the first wedding that they’ve hosted, and considering that they’ve been accommodating thus far, I would be extremely surprised if they were offended by any of your décor request considering the occasion. The only thing that I would worry about is potential added cost dependent on how much stuff you bring and how labor intensive the set-up is for them. If you’re still working with a wedding coordinator, then I would bounce these ideas off of him/her, that’s what they are there for. Final note... Nice venue, and based on my previous visit to PDC in 2011, I can vouch for the food.

Hi Katy, Welcome to BDW and the May 2013 thread. You stumbled upon one of the best monthly planning threads on BDW and your definitely in good company with this group of fantastic brides. I’m impressed that you read through all 143 pages; that takes a bit of commitment. Any-who, feel free to ask any questions as I’m sure many will come your way since you’re a PDC local and many of us are getting married in the Riviera Maya. Happy Planning!

So ture, and annoying. We have not receieved a single RSVP and have 22 guest comfirmed (per my TA) and about 8 guests that we are confident will not attend. Best advice receieved thus far: Don't let your friends and family stress you out with their opinions and expectations. It's your day and the only two people who matter are the Bride and Groom.

We were considering doing one long table as well, but we want people to be able to chit chat with each other and thought it would be easier to do in round tables. We were just doing a sweetheart table for me and FI and then having our BM/MOH who are married and the extent of our wedding party, join the table with our friends. Each table has 8 seats. So we'd have 3 tables plus the sweetheart table. But I also like the layout of the long table too. Hmmm what made you guys decide to do the seating this way? A few factors really... Of the available reception spaces at my resort, we really liked the terrace that overlooked the ocean which is a long linear space that promotes the use of the banquet style tables. We could have used round tables but because of the layout we thought there would be too much separation. If I could set the round tables up in a pyramid configuration than it might be a different story. But the long table just gives our wedding group a bit more of an intimate feel. Also, we never liked the idea of sitting by ourselves at a head/sweetheart table, again, it just didn’t fit with our goal to have an intimate wedding and thought that we would be the ones missing out on the fun and great conversation. We considered sitting at the head of the long banquet table, but preferred the idea of being in the middle. We thought that sitting at the head would create this weird hierarchy of who we were closest to and liked the most which we wanted to avoid. I should note that we have 22 confirmed guests and don’t anticipate any more than 28 people to attend. If we had any more than 35 guests I probably wouldn’t do the long banquet table setup.

We are also having a long table and will sit in the middle and have our MOH/BM sit directly across from us (this is the extent of our bridal party). We didn't want to seperate them since they are a married couple and we figured that sitting accross from us is close enough proximity. Our parents will sit on either side of us and our remaining friends and family will fill in the remaining seats.
