Chapels for your wedding…………..and more!!! Las Vegas is known for its "Chapel" weddings but there is so much more here! Not many people realize the jewels of the desert. Weddings can be done at the beautiful scenic backdrop of Red Rock or the gorgeous Valley of Fire. Travel in a limousine, a jeep, or your own vehicle. Red Rock does require a permit purchased from the Bureau of Land Management, for every wedding done in the Scenic Loop. The Valley of Fire requires a reservation at the park, to be called in and scheduled by the Bride or Groom, with no permit needed. If you schedule the wedding through a consulting company that does many weddings, then a permit is needed by that company. These companies purchase them on a yearly basis. Helicopter weddings are on the rise. Get married as quick as a "Strip Trip" which means married over the neon lights of the strip or you can be married in a helicopter over the Grand Canyon. There are some Grand Canyon helicopter trips where you fly in and actually land at the bottom where you will be able to enjoy some beverages and appetizers. The pronunciation of husband and wife is done in the air on the Nevada side before you land, as to facilitate having an officiate from Nevada. How about getting married in a Chopper Chapel with motorcycle memorabilia. We have that too! Gondolas are another romantic way to be married right here in Vegas. You might feel as if you are in Venice, all the time never having to catch a plane. This can be done at the Venetian Hotel as well as out at Lake Las Vegas. Enjoy a serenade at dinner on the sunset cruise. Can you top getting married on the Eiffel Tower, the Roller Coaster on the top of the Stratosphere Hotel, the Zip Line at Fremont Street or even the enormous fish tank at Silverton…..these are all locations available for your very special day!! Choose your own desired location... almost anywhere you can imagine! Below are just a few options available: · The Pirate Ship at Treasure Island · A private room at your suite or restaurant · Helicopters and small private planes · The fabulous Vegas sign · The volcano at The Mirage · A gondola at The Venetian · The zip line · The Chopper Chapel at the Harley Cafe You dream it and we can turn your dream into a reality. Please feel free to contact me if I can assist you with your Vegas Wedding plan! Joni Moss*Nevada Wedding Association*LV Wedding Connection 702-236-8728 [email protected]

India and its colours The rustic charm of India has since long cast its spell over many. While most come back to explore, travel the rest of their the country, there are few who are so mesmerised by the destination that they decide to take wedding vows or renew their wedding vows in its famous palaces or beaches or backwaters. India is a country rich in heritage, culture, traditions and customs and an Indian Wedding is symbolism of all this. Weddings in India greatly differ from Western Ceremonies; they have rich vibrant colours, and the number of ceremonies spread across 2-5 days of which some are held in the morning and some at night. A destination wedding in India is a magical experience for the couples who want to start their life together with an exciting journey in this amazing country. The interest in India as a wedding destination has greatly grown in recent years. These days, not only do people of Indian origin want to get married in spectacular venues all across the country, foreigners do as well. India’s forts and royal palaces which offer opulent luxury has made it popular with many of the world’s biggest stars. Recently, India has hosted a few international weddings which have given a distinct image to the country which is now perceived to be luxurious and exotic in this facet of travel tourism. Everything you need for a beautiful wedding full of colours, you’ll find in India from beautiful printed invitations, Designer Lehengas or Silk Sarees, exotic and Indian florals, and an abundance of unique venue locations ranging from historical palaces in Rajasthan to pristine beaches in Goa to serene backwaters in Kerala or in the lap of might Himalayas. India’s got it all! Whether you opt for a royal wedding and marry like a princess or a relaxed and fun beach wedding, it's up to you to choose. One thing is imperative though; make sure you have a good and an experienced destination wedding planner to organize the event. Their help will be invaluable. We will come back with more logistics details and various venue options in coming days. ~ Sunaina Sharma is a destination wedding planner for India based in New Delhi. The Lovebird Wedding Theme Are you wondering what ‘theme’ to base your wedding on? Wedding themes are not a necessity but can definitely add some fun details to your special day! One option for a theme is that of the Lovebird. The definition of a lovebird is as follows: Small parrot noted for forming close bonds with their mates for the whole of their lives. Why not add a little bit of lovebird décor to your Big Day? Below are some tips on how to do so. Invitations and Programs: Start including this theme from the very beginning of your wedding planning process. If you choose to send Save the Dates, add an image of a bird to the template. This image can be used throughout the rest of your wedding stationery from the invites to the programs, even the escort cards. Use the definition of what a lovebird is, seen above, and add this to the programs you hand out to your guests or include it on a sign displayed at your reception. Centerpieces: To incorporate this theme into your centerpieces, find antique birdcages that can be filled with beautiful flowers. Another option is to add sticks or even feathers to your centerpieces. This does not need to be over the top but is a way to add some fun details to your decorations. Favors: If you have decided to give favors to your guests, you could provide them with egg shaped chocolate candies. Another option is to give out ornaments in the shape of a bird. There are a lot of possibilities out there, you just have to be creative! Interested in having live birds at your wedding? Many brides and grooms will let out doves during the ceremony or you can choose to have a few displayed in a beautiful cage, possibly by your programs or during the cocktail hour. As with everything about your wedding, the most important thing is that it reflects you and your future husband! Remember to have fun with it!!

Beauty Dos Before You Say "I Do" Hair and makeup is an expression of who we are. How we are feeling that day and how we want to be perceived. The beauty of makeup and hair is that there are no right or wrong answers. If you want to wear your hair in a mohawk with fire engine lips for your wedding, why not? If that is your style and you are owning it, I say GO FOR IT! Hair and makeup should never out do who you are. Whatever it is you decide on, a chignon or soft beachy waves, smokey eye or cat eye, there are a few simple steps you can follow to ensure the humidity will not beat you to the alter and you look your best from the inside out. HAIR: The following information is on how to properly "prep" your hair for your stylist. He/She will apply additional products when creating your look but these steps will help in addition to what your stylist uses. No matter what the style you opt for, it all starts in the shower. Wash your hair with a shampoo for oily hair (even if you don't have oily hair). This is to eliminate any oils you have so your hair is extra dry and holds a curl. The oilier and softer the hair, the less likely it is to hold a style. DO NOT use conditioner; it will weigh your hair down. Towel dry your hair and apply a silicone based product from mid-shaft to ends. The silicone seals in shine once your hair is curled. COMPLETELY avoid applying the silicone to your scalp. If applied to your scalp and you perspire it will look greasy. Next, apply an anti-humidity blow dry creme all over (be generous). Comb the product through. If you have thick and/or coarse hair, section your hair and blow dry with a round brush (2- 2 1/2 inch diameter). If you have naturally curly hair, ring your hair around your fingers and let it air dry. Otherwise, I personally don't think it matters if you blow dry perfectly or rough dry it with your hands. As long as your stylist has a good base to work with, both of you will be fine. I prefer hair to be a little dirty. It has more texture, holds a style much longer and is more pliable. So, if you're getting married on a Saturday, follow these steps Friday morning and style as usual. Of course, if you have been ATVing all day and your hair looks two shades darker (from dust and dirt), wash it! But follow all these steps before hitting the hay. SKIN CARE: Many of you have wondered what is the best foundation application for you on your wedding day. We all want our skin to look velvety smooth without looking too made up. The truth is, so many things factor in the look of your skin that have nothing to do with foundation application. HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE! I cannot say it enough. You should drink 32 oz. of water and even more if you work out. Well hydrated skin is a makeup artists dream. Even if you don't have the best skin, if it is well hydrated makeup goes on more smooth, the skin looks more luminous and colors are truer. I call water the drink of life. It gives life to so many things including your skin. So drink up and cheers! Fruits and veggies are great for your skin. If you get a bit squeamish just hearing the word spinach or fruits are not allowed in your diet, I recommend a vitamin strictly for hair, skin and nails. Otherwise, a juice filled with berries and tons of leafy greens will do wonders. For best results do this for a minimum of one month before your big day. Be consistent! Sleep is often forgotten when planning a wedding but it shows all over your skin when it is lacking. When you are sleep deprived your skin looks dull. Try Valerian Root, it is natural, will help you get your zzz's and also helps with anxiety (now this is a bride's dream). If you tend to get bags under your eyes, don't sleep with so many pillows. Too much elevation is not good unless you’re wearing Louboutins!! If you have problematic skin, try sleeping with your hair off and away from your face. This will keep any additional oils from creeping on your skin. Change your pillow case every 2 days to avoid any dirt and oil. Instead of using powder to touch up, try using blotting papers. This will prevent you from accumulating too much makeup throughout the day while removing any excess oil. GROOMING: Many brides are so busy they often forget to get their brows and/or upper lip groomed. If your brows are not clean, it does not showcase the eyeshadow properly. Often times, when a brow is not clean, the eye makeup may appear over done when that is not the case. Do not change the natural shape of your brows a simple clean-up will do perfectly. It is a myth that if you remove the hair from your upper lip it will grow in thicker. If it is done by a professional it will not. No matter how perfect the makeup application is, if you have hair above your lip people can see it and it may show in your pictures. There will be a dark cast above your lip and some photographers may not know to look for this so they will not photo shop. So let’s get started! Beautiful hair and skin awaits you. Each and every one of you deserve to look and feel your best. It is my sincere wish you have the wedding of your dreams and you look like the bride you always imagined. Our first dance was to Michael Buble's 'Everything'. We are huge fans of Michael Buble. I first heard this song while we were still in college and I knew that it would be our first dance song if we were to get married. Well, 5 years later it's exactly what we danced to! We had so much fun with this song because it is a little faster than your normal first dance. There were a lot of twirls and dips involved:)

One of my best friends is getting married at the William B Layton Park in Tahoe City this Summer. Has anyone had their wedding here or been to a wedding at this location? Experiences you can share? Any recommendations? I'd love to help my friend but have never been to this location myself. Thanks in advance!

I was just in a wedding in which the ceremony started at noon and the dinner didn't start until 5. All of the guests went back to their rooms, had something to eat and drink, and relaxed until it was time for dinner. The bridal party were all treated to a catered lunch and we freshened up on our makeup before we started taking pictures. I think the guests will enjoy the free time and your bridal party will enjoy the time together as well:)

To registry or not to registry??
alyssaw replied to beachbum21's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I would say that it's best to do a registry and to mention it on your wedding website, like many of you have said. A lot of guests want to get the Bride and Groom a gift and a registry helps them decide what is best for the couple. My cousin wrote on her website "This registry is our first preference of how you can best help us if you like, but please know that what we desire most is your presence (not presents)." -
I just got married in Santa Barbara in March 2011. I went to school in Santa Barbara as well so I am very familiar with the area. We chose Fess Parker's Doubletree Resort and Spa for our venue, it was beautiful!! Our ceremony was held outside in the Plaza del Sol and we moved inside to one of the ballrooms for our reception. I didn't hire a wedding planner but the venue does require a Day of Coordinator, which is not provided. I went with Amazing Days Events and couldn't have been more pleased! Good luck with your wedding planning, Santa Barbara is beautiful!
