Ocean Blue & Sand-Punta Cana
Dominican Ally replied to SabBrew's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Hey Ladies - So I wanted to share my DIY project (Barefoot sandals) with you This was my first attempt, and I bought tons of different beads etc. so I'm sure I'll play around with different styles over the next year! It's my intent to make some for myself, and my bridal party. Perhaps if I get REALLY ambitious I can make them for ALL of the females attending the wedding (using some more "budget friendly" beads of course for the rest of the guests....lol) Excuse my "winter feet"...really need a pedicure now that it is spring, and flip-flop weather is coming! What do you think? -

I originally looked at the Transat packages, but we have about 35 ppl coming, and it's important to me to have a private dinner/reception. Unfortunately these are not very possible with the Transat packages since they charge a crazy price per person to privatize the reception if you have a transat package.....and you have to have a minimum of 40ppl. If a private dinner/4 hour reception wasn't important to me, I would have certainly jumped at the Transat wedding packages, as they really are great (and affordable) otherwise -

I'm on the fence about TTD too. I like them, but not sure that I will get the FI to want to do it....I booked our photogaphy package (Caribbean Emotions) without it, and I'll think it over for a few months before deciding if I want to add TTD. -

We are doing April and our Toronto/Ottawa pricing is $1340 including taxes, and our Calgary/Edmonton (more expensive since it's an 8 hour flight!) is $1530. We are going through a travel agent, but she is using Transat for our package. I have the additional price lists for spa/add ons/ etc. What's your email address, and I'll send it to you.... -

Our ceremony is at 4pm, and will be on the beach I'm a little concerned about privacy, but I'll get over it...lol! Just as long as the photog manages to get plenty of pictures without onlookers in speedos/bikinis....haha -

I totally wish they had a more private beach gazebo as well....the garden one is not for me as I want to have the beach in the background. I really loved the private beach gazebos at some of the other resorts, but ultimately it was more important to me to have lots of family and friends since we are getting a reasonable price at Ocean Blue. Had I chosen a resort with the most amazing gazebo, and the price was over 2000.00 pp......I don't think I'd have half of the guests I have attending Ocean Blue Did you consider a wedding on the beach? They don't have a "gazebo" exactly, but they do have a "huppah" (spelling?!) or whatever it is called.... -

I was in the same boat...I REALLY wanted boarding pass STDs....but given that I needed 100 of them, it was just toooooo expensive. I went with postcard STD's from Vistaprint and I was really happy with them. I got a lot of compliments, and that made me feel good! You could order the envelopes to go with them, as well as return address labels to match too....so I think they turned out ok. I'll attach a pic of the front - on the back I paid the extra for colour printing and wrote some more details about our plans, put our wedding website address, etc. I am going to do passport invites for sure, but only to people who are likely to be coming, and I'll send them out after most people have booked (about 4 months prior to the wedding). -
Hush hush legal ceremony
Dominican Ally replied to Sharon99's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I think we are still getting married legally in the Dominican....BUT if things change, I would also be doing the legalities after returning so that it doesn't take anything away from the ceremony in the Dominican. I think it's totally different for everyone, and it's all a matter of what feels right to each couple. -

Yay!!! Can't wait to see you added to the list I feel like I've been wedding slacking lately.....my brain just needed a break...lol! I figure since we have the date, hotel, judge, travel, and photographer booked - there isn't a ton more that I can do right now until our 90 days pass with the travel agent and I see how many people are coming! Then it will be time to start passport invites, OOT bags, etc. -
Thought I would start this thread, as I couldn't find one specifically where everyone could post their DIY Barefoot sandals pictures. I just made my first pair tonight, but have a lot of different bead combos to make a bunch more - so I'll keep posting what I come up with! I just love this project, and think it will be so nice to make them for myself, and my bridesmaids for the big day!

I'm really not sure - I would suggest emailing Ada or Yinette and asking. I know it's an option with the Sand Ext. And the one above....but not sure the guide specifies if it can be booked for Blue Affair. -

I totally chose Ocean Blue for this reason too (among others). My TA warned me against the Gran Bahia Punta Cana and a couple of others because they were sooooo big. I imagine for some groups - that might be a good thing if they all don't want to spend a ton of time together. For my family, it's very much a reunion as well, since we all live across the country - so it will be nice to be at a smaller resort where we can spend lots of time together. -

OOT travel mugs
Dominican Ally replied to yumii28's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
You can buy them online at http://www.shopbubba.com/ they are much cheaper than regular price in stores, and they have discounts for spending over certain dollar amounts. You can find the discount codes under "bulk orders". If you are in Canada, and you watch the Canadian Tire sales - you can sometimes get them on sale cheaper than what you can get on the above site. The only issue being that it's hard to get all of the same colour, etc. If you are in the US - I believe Walmart carries them as well for a decent price, especially when they go on sale. -
