  1. Congrats! I am thinking of pushing my wedding from March to April - we haven't planned anything yet, but TA's I've initially talked to have suggested that by bumping it a few weeks into April, we would save a significant amount per person. Have you gotten full pricing and booked your trips yet?
  2. Welcome to the forum - so awesome to see a Groom on here! Good for you - wish my fiance would take some of this reading on...lol
  3. I think that's a great idea, and I may just do the same thing!
  4. Thanks Mayrose! I actually just talked to a travel agent today, who pointed out that Easter in 2013 is March 31.....so there goes my whole idea of having the wedding the end of March/beginning of April...lol! I think we may just push it to the next week in April, as pricing may be better. I'm so anxious to pick a resort and book a date, but don't feel comfortable doing that until I can get some pricing from TA's so that I know I'm picking a resort my guests can all afford.
  5. I'm struggling with this now too - I think I'm going to wait until I've picked a resort, so I hope to have them out about 10 months in advance.
  6. I'm struggling with this issue right now for my March/April 2013 wedding. I'm anxious to pick a resort and get a date booked, but don't want to book a wedding date with a resort until I've seen their pricing - frustrating! lol
  7. Hello Ladies, I'm considering this resort for our April 2013 wedding. Can anyone provide me with packages/pricing and extras from this resort? I am having trouble finding it on their site, and I'm trying to decide on a resort. My email is [email protected] ( I can't open attachments yet on this forum). Also - does anyone know the approximate price their guests are paying for air/accomodations. Preferably someone from Canada and perhaps an April 2012 bride? Thanks so much! Alicia
  8. Congrats to all brides. I've just found this forum and LOVE it! I'm trying to narrow it down to a resort right now too - so hard! Our wedding will hopefully be late march 2013
  9. Hello Ladies! I'm new to this forum. Trying to narrow it down between Dreams La Romana, and NOW Larimar. Are there any 2013 brides out there? Can anyone tell me either 2013 or even 2012 pricing for guests? I'm trying to get an idea of what guests might be paying from Ontario and Alberta, Canada for a 7 night stay with airfare. We are hoping to have our wedding late March or early April 2013. Thanks, and congrats to all of you on your upcoming (or past) weddings!!
  10. Anudrm - I am not sure if I am going to get a wedding package or not. I do believe we will have at least 20 people, but I'm thinking we may end up with 30 or more. I'm just concerned about the extras per person that start to add up above and beyond the packages - trying to do my budget up. Does anyone know if any of the wedding packages(which include coctail hours/dinner for up to 20 ppl) include any alcohol at the dinner?
  11. Thanks for the replies ladies! I'm so glad I found this forum, and I'm sure as the planning process continues I will have many questions. I'm so stressed right now trying to get all of the info I need to make my final decisions on location/date.....I'll feel a lot better once that's done, although I'm sure I'll just be on to the next thing to stress over...lol Jessicalynneh - I PM'd you with my email address if you can forward that info/pricing
  12. Hello Ladies! I'm finally getting on here after many months of poking around My FI and I are hoping to get married at DLR in April 2013! We have just started designing our STD's and contacted a few travel agents to start pricing and getting the ball rolling. I am wondering if any 2012/13 brides can provide some insight into the extra fees associated with coctail hour/dinner reception for groups over 20 people. I am pretty sure we are going to have closer to 35 and I'm trying to budget how much extra it is going to cost us for the additional people. I'm trying to decide if it's more cost effective to pay the extra per person charges....or perhaps just get a reservation for the guests at an A La Carte restaurant (which would be free).......and then pay for speakers/bonfire on beach/drinks per person and have a reception that way before going to the disco at 11, or whatever time it opens. Any help or tips anyone can provide me as far as detailed pricing goes would be super appreciated! Alicia
  13. Does anyone have any idea when pricing may be available for March 2013? I am soooo anxious to confirm a date so I can get going on STD's, etc. etc..... I have a travel agent from Blue Petal calling me tomorrow - does anyone have any information/reviews on them? Depending on how that call goes, I'll also be going out to some local (eastern Ontario) travel agents and seeing what I can find out. I'm so excited to start planning! Also, so glad I found this forum!
  14. Hello Fellow Canadian Brides! Any 2013 brides out there? I'm just starting the planning process, and it looks like this site is going to be SUPER helpful! I absolutely want to do some fun save the dates, and passport invites/boarding pass RSVPs I'm not sure yet if I feel like taking them on as a DIY project, but it seems that I'm in the right place if I do! I'm wondering if there are any eastern ontario brides (Kingston, Ottawa, etc) that can tell me of some good travel agents, or any really that can give me pricing now for March 2013. I am getting anxious to narrow down a resort and book a date, but don't want to do that before I can ensure I can get a good/affordable group rate for my guests. Any help/tips from fellow brides who have felt this anxiety would help! How early on where you able to get pricing? Did you book a date with a resort before knowing what their air/accomodation pricing was like? Thanks! Alicia
  15. Hello Fellow 2013 Brides! I actually got engaged a few months ago, but wasn't able to dedicate my time to planning/etc. until now. I just went to a wedding show this past weekend, and can tell you that it absolutely justified my decision to have a destination wedding! I know I will load myself up with DIY stuff, and certain things with the destination wedding as well....but could not even imagine how consumed my life would be if I had to plan a wedding here at home (Kingston, Ontario). We have decided on late March/early April 2013. We are flexible on date as we want to choose a time that is most affordable for our guests. We are thinking Dominican, as it seems more affordable than Mexico...not sure if this is right? I'm considering Dreams La Romana, and Gran Bahia Principe La Romana...Dreams seems to be more money than the Gran....we will see. I did however, fall in love with Dreams, and there is soooo much info on this site from fellow Dreams brides.... Does anyone already have pricing/dates booked for 2013? I am just starting to contact travel agents etc, and hope I can find one that can get me pricing ASAP. I am starting to seriously feel stressed now that we have made the decision to do this, that I can't get pricing anywhere....I know I have a year and two months....but still! lol. Congrats to all of my fellow 2013 ladies! Alicia
