Thanks ladies! I love looking at everyone's rings! Even though I adore mine, I can't help but continue to look at them in jewelry stores, etc! I'm excited to get a wedding band done that will match. I met a great jeweller at a wedding show a few weeks ago and it sounds like he'll do a custom band for a great price!

We are getting married in the Dominican, 2013. I want the ceremony to actually be legal, so we'll have the judge...I was wondering if anyone had the judge or someone say anything either before or after this legal part of the ceremony? How do people incorporate sand ceremonies and other things?

I love this thread - still trying to think of ideas. Are you all having the officiant read this? Is that an issue in a spanish speaking country....Im' wondering if I'll have to have someone attending my wedding do a reading...

I LOVE the idea of having the legal wedding exactly one year before the destination wedding - that is awesome! I may consider this once I lock in my April 2013 date

Hi Courtney! I too, think I will be an April 2013 bride! I'm curious to know, were you able to get pricing for your guests this far in advance? I'm so excited to start planning, but I'm afraid to pick a date for April 2013 until I know pricing/flight schedules for the hotels I'm looking at....oh the joy of planning a DW! Wasn't this supposed to be easier? lol

If it's 90pp, I won't be paying for everyone! lol...just not in the budget I would still like to pay for the wedding party and parents maybe, but we'll see. I can't wait to start planning these fun things, once I finally pick a date/location!

I'm in the same boat! I know we are having a destination wedding, and others are aware, but at this point we don't know who is coming since we don't even have a date/hotel picked out. I have a group of 3 girlfriends and we are all close, but realistically, I doubt all three of them will be coming. I would love it if they were, but I am fully prepared for the fact that they may not be able to. What my FI and I have done, is we have one couple that are without a doubt coming no matter where, when, or how much the wedding is. It's his childhood best friend, and his wife, who I've become very close with over the past couple of years - so we are going to have the two of them stand up for us. This way we have at least two people standing up with us, and I am just going to be flexible (or try to be!) with everyone else. I am going to ask my three girls, but make it clear to them that I understand that they may not be able to come, and there are no hard feelings at ALL. I plan on being flexible about BM dresses (pick a colour, they pick the dress), so even if they decided at the last minute to come, they could join the wedding party. I suppose I also have to be flexible as far as not being concerned about the numbers matching up on both sides....there may be more on my fiances side, than on mine, or vice-versa. This is something I've struggled with, and I hope it ends up working out ok!

I still don't have pricing back from my TA - and I've requested pricing on 4 resorts to narrow it down. I have to say that after researching the 4 further in the meantime, I think this resort is going to be my top pick! I think you've all made a great choice in resort - and any info you could provide me as far as wedding packages/upgrades/extras per person would be so appreciated! I love the idea of a catamaran cruise! I would love to do that for my guests, and I love the suggestion of paying for more immediate family and/or bridal party and partially paying for others who are interested in going. If my group is a reasonable size I'd love to pay for everyone, but if we end up with 30+ people, the costs could add up quickly!

I already have twinrix vaccine and don't think I will bother with anything else...

I've been hearing recently about advisories to the Dominican, but I still want to go there for our destination!

Thanks Peach! I really wanted to stick to March since it is colder here, but spring break is out due to high prices, and the last week of March/very first of April is out due to Easter ( TA advised it's not a good time to travel to Dominican). So - pushing it out to the week starting April 6th looks like our best bet. I think early April will still be a nice escape from the cooler weather here, and for the people who go for a few weeks - they can come home to spring I think my guests will be happy with the hot weather down there, smaller crownds, and better pricing!
