  1. I'll see if I can dig up some pictures. Realize, we had a pretty big wedding at ~90 people, and three different "events". It was a lot of money, and you can believe we are FUMING, and will not let it go: - Hindu ceremony - Catholic ceremony - Reception dinner Not to completely slag them as some of the elements were nice (catholic ceremony flowers). But they promised a beautiful mandap, and it was pretty embarassing. As well, they got our colours wrong for our flowers. They were the worst in terms of communications, and I would highly recommend staying away from them because they were not very dependable. Again - I will dig up the pictures they sent us of the mandap they promised to deliver, and what they actually delivered....
  2. I'm back, after getting married in May 2012 in Montego Bay Jamaica. I've been meaning to get back on here and put some feedback on my experience with vendors. Please feel free to reach out to me to ask questions on any aspect of my wedding. The first piece I want to comment on was the unprofessional ending with Tai Flora services, which we ended up choosing as our florist. It was the only real regret we had looking back on the experience. We spent a tidy sum (over US$10k with them), and it was the only real disappointment in the whole affair. Colours for our flowers were incorrect for our reception - this after meeting a few days before to confirm with our florist Kerry-Anne Fairclough about all the details. The real doozy for us was the expensive Mandap (which is sort of like a Hindu alter). Our invoice had pictures that showed beautiful dense hanging flowers, which we talked about at length. What we ended up with was a few flowers near the front of the Mandap that looked ridiculous. So much so, if we knew that it would look like that, we wouldn't have paid the ridiculous sum charged for it... This was all pretty disappointing, and the worst part was that once they got their money, they would not respond to any of our requests. We tried getting a hold of our florist Kerry-Ann and the director of operations Sascha Hossmann, but he just refused to respond to us to talk about this. They weren't having it. Just a warning to all brides who are considering Tai Flora Services - you may not get what you expect, and they won't acknowledge your existence once they get your money - no matter how much you spend. Good luck. I'll be posting more reviews on our other vendors who, aside from Tai, where honestly all pretty great. Jaya
  3. Hi ladies! I've been meaning to come back on here and say thank you for all the help! I actually got married back in May 2012 in Montego Bay, having planned my events with help from a number of you - All of our events ended up beautifully thanks to all the advice and tips we received from helpful brides on this site. So this message is a big thank you. I'm now looking to give back where I can, so if anyone has ANY questions at all, please let me know. We were lucky enough to do a scouting trip in advance of the wedding, and visited a number of hotels as well, so I can give you some sense of what would work for you. We looked at a number of "tiers" of hotels in Montego Bay from the ultra-luxury to the more reasonably priced. We had our guests stay at the Hilton Rose Hall, while our actual wedding was split between the Hilton and The Ritz Carlton. The morning consisted of a Hindu Ceremony and some light refreshments. In the evening, we bus'ed everyone over to the Ritz for the Catholic Ceremony and reception. Both events were awesome. We also had a "welcome party" at the Hilton, and brought on PACE (reggae band) to host our event. They were expensive, but worth every penny and made our party a blast. No regrets with those guys. I did hair with Loni We did have one regret with with our florist - Tai Flora - I would never recommend them again after our experience. We paid over US$10k for them, and in the end when they failed to deliver, they wouldn't even talk to us anymore - wouldn't respond to emails/phone calls. They basically took our money and ran, so be warned. They left a bad taste after a great destination wedding. (I'll post a more detailed review later about that fiasco) Other than that - the whole experience was awesome, and I'm really looking forward to helping out potential Jamaica brides! Best, Jaya

  6. I am thinking of getting parasols for my guests as it will be super hot in Jamaica in May...but I know it also rains at that time. Umbrellas or parasols? Or are parasols good enough in the rain?? Any thoughts would be much appreciated Jaya
  7. @jamaicasukie - I'm using Loni Jones in May - and I am really excited about her. I have heard great things about her...you can google her to find out more!
  8. Hi, I am new to this site and I love it! So much great information...and so good to share tips with other DW brides. I'm getting married in May 2012 in Montego Bay and am looking for a few vendors....it is a Hindu/Catholic wedding. I'm looking for a hairstylist, a mehndi artist (for one of the Indian functions) and a videographer. Does anyone have any suggestions? I visited Jamaica last year and checked out a bunch of resorts in Montego Bay. If anyone has any questions..let me know - I'll try and answer if I can! Thanks so much Jaya
