  1. I will take the bouquet jewelry, both the C and L, if they're still available. "CL" will be my new initials!!
  2. After seeing everyone's OOT bags and getting overwhelmed trying to decide what type of bag I wanted to use, I found them!! Of course I couldn't wait to share my find here with all of you! I got them at Five Below this week for $3 each. These are the four colors they had. I liked them all so I decided to go with some of each color. They seem like decent quality bags and they're a good size...approx. 13 x 16, maybe a tad bigger. Now I can't wait to fill them
  3. I was going to suggest the same thing! A lot of our guests are only coming for 3 or 4 nights. It makes the price more reasonable and it's a little easier to fit in their schedules. We just told our guests when the scheduled events would be (just the wedding day and a bonfire either the night or two nights before). We didn't plan too many events so that people wouldn't feel like they had to come for an extended period.
  4. We are getting married in Mexico but intially considered Punta Cana. Our travel agent told us getting a legal marriage done in the Dominican is very difficult and if we were going to have our wedding there, she advised a legal ceremony in the states first. Perhaps a bride who actually got married in Punta Cana would have better advice but I've heard the same thing from a couple different places including a different travel agency. It's one of the reasons we decided on Mexico. We are doing a legal ceremony there.
  5. I just started WW Online this week!! My goal is 10 lbs and my wedding is less than 5 months away. I decided on WW because I've been working out and not losing any weight. I know my diet is the problem and I'm optimistic that this plan will help me with that. I was so happy to find this section devoted to WW on BDW. The first few days have been hard but I think it's all just the learning curve. I'm hoping so anyway!
  6. I've seen posts from other brides who said they avoided the vendor fee for their outside florist by having a few friends or family members meet the florist in the lobby and take it from there. This might not work in all cases but if you just have some bouquets and/or centerpieces it might be an option.
  7. Good topic! I usually get my mom stuff like that too. This year, with the wedding I was thinking of getting her something for the trip to Mexico. I was thinking some kind of jewelry with a tropical feel to it or maybe a bathing suit wrap or an outfit to wear at the resort. I'd love to hear what other ladies are doing!
  8. The part included in the package isn't taxed, so it's just the difference that is used to calculate the tax. Either way, you are correct in that the two coordinators don't seem to be on the same page. I'm sure it gets confusing for them with all the substitutions we want to do. I believe when they started, they didn't allow substitutions at all. Obviously if they are going to allow them, they need to come up with a consistent plan on how they're going to handle it. I guess this is why we need to get everything in writing.
  9. My Fiance and I decided we are going to invest in the portable Bose Sounddock (About $400) to use for our wedding in Mexico. Between the welcome bonfire, our ceremony and reception, if we paid to rent the resort's sound equipment to use with our Ipod it would cost more than the Sounddock. At least this way, we spend the money and still have a great system to use later. It has since occurred to me that the Sounddock isn't compatible with a microphone. How does this work for the ceremony??? Will we still have to rent the resort equipment for the ceremony so everyone can hear the officiant? I'd hate to do both but I would feel awful if our friends and family spent so much money and time to come to our Mexican wedding and not be able to hear anything. We are expecting about 35 guests and we're getting married at the resort's Gazebo, not on the beach. Any suggestions??? Anyone do this yet??
  10. This is the first thread I've started and I just realized I posted this in the wrong place. I'll repost in the correct category. Oops!
  11. Maybe someone else has had experience with this. I was telling Cri that Valeria told me if I wanted to upgrade my photo package I just had to pay the difference between the listed package prices plus 11% tax. I have an updated contract showing the cost to upgrade from the photos included in the Ultimate Package to photo package 6 is $639 (Package 6 $1300 - Package 3 $724 + $63 (11% of the difference)). Cecilia is telling Cri she'll only get $500 to put towards an upgrade in the photos. Quote: Originally Posted by CriCri

  13. After reading your PM I think you already know this, Cri, but for everyone else, I'll clarify. I agree there is a mistake in the PDF Wedding Guide. Juan Navarro sent me a word document with the price list for Secret's and it has Package 5 at $1100 with all other details the same. It makes no sense that Package 5 would be more expensive than 6. .
  14. Great job on the bags!! I love the white bags. I was thinking of doing something similar to that. It's great to see them finished. They look so nice!
  15. The original doesn't work anymore but someone else posted a link at the bottom of page 4 that shows you how to do it.
  16. We're getting married at the Gazebo, so take my opinion with a grain of salt if you wish, but I LIKE IT!!! The dark wood is beautiful against the lighter colors of the sand, ocean and sky. It also looks more substantial and permanent. The old one looked like something temporary they popped up on the beach. Granted, it looks a little plain without any added decoration, but so does the old beach setup and the Gazebo. I think there's a lot more you can do with the new one to dress it up. I immediately thought of these ideas for you guys (all taken from this site)... Colored draping. Anything with color, whether it's flower or fabric will pop against the dark wood. Crystals, crystals and more crystals! The crystals are to die for, but I love the big tropical leaves with the white flowers at the base too. Those would like nice in the front on each side. Strands of flowers for a more romatic look.... This makes me want to change my location. It's definitely different than what you were all planning for but there is a lot of potentional!
  17. I love reading all of these stories!! My fiance and I met on Match.com! At the time, none of my friends had used online dating that I was aware of and I was a little afraid of the whole thing. After stalking the site for a while I finally got the nerve. I was only on Match for a few weeks but I was starting to get a little discouraged. Then I saw Eric had saved me as one of his "favorites". I waited a few days for him to make the first move but when nothing came, I sent him a message (probably fueled by a glass of wine!). We exchanged emails for a few weeks, then texts for another week or two. When we finally met, it just clicked. We met for happy hour and were still sitting at the bar chatting away at 11pm! The next date was the same thing and from that point on we were inseparable. It's hard to believe it's been 2 years and in 5 months he'll be my husband!! The funny thing is we only lived 3 miles apart, but I doubt I would have gotten the opportunity to know him without Match. I even made believers out of my single girlfriends and now they do online dating. Fingers crossed their stories end up like mine!
  18. Thanks for the tip! If my fiance saw those flip flop cards and I told him I was giving those to his friends, he would laugh at me. Haha!
  19. Is anyone getting different bags for the single guys? I haven't decided what bag to use for any of our bags yet, but few of the options look like something a guy would want to carry around. As far as contents, I probably won't change much. I have BBW hand sanitizers and nail files too. I just picked up a few scents that were a little less flowery or fruity and I'll leave out the file. I want to do cards too. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to get them? I've seen a lot of people do the flip flop cards, which are really cute, but I don't see the guys wanting to use those.
