I know when I found this forum I was so excited... I think though like most have pointed out, its mostly an american site and they can't go so it makes sense that there aren't a lot of them getting married there! So we all have to stick together!!!! LOL

I also want some promise that there will come a time, maybe in April where they reevaluate the cost and since we all know that it is going to come down that they go and make that adjustment to the price! But I guess at the end of the day it is what it is!

LOL at first this made me laugh the make babies and buy a house! that is kind of how I feel! I agree with everyone I think that we all chose to have the DW so that we could do the wedding easily with zero to no stress, I have decided that I am going to wait a little longer get the quotes one more time and then just book it, I made peace before we started planning that I will be fine with whoever comes and not stress about the people that cant come, the only reason that I am upset about it all is because of the mistake that my TA made, but at the end of the day it is what it is... and I dont think that asking people to go on a vacation to paradise is such a hardship, oh and by the way while we are all in paradise we are going to get married! man how dare I! LOL

Tell me about it, I have been to the Dominican, Cuba, Mexico at least 4 times but have never been to the East Coast of my own country because of how expensive it is to travel... there are really only a few options, lets put it this way Edmonton to Calgary is a 3 hour drive give or take but to fly is usually over $400 with taxes it is literally insane, there just isnt the competition here so really they get away with charging whatever they want! Donèt even get me started on what kind of money we pay for a cell phone bill! LOL but it isnt all bad... there are some great reasons to live here!

Congrats on your engagement, and you are pretty close to the 150 no sense paying now LOL!!!! This has been a pretty good thread we have gotten a few brides to 150! Have you already booked and sent invitations? Do you have more guests booked to go now that its been a little while?? Trust me I could and can chat for days as well!!!!

Yeah I wouldn't mind Domincan I have my travel agent looking into some other places to see what is out there!

I only brought 2 people for the first one, it was nice because then I could figure out what I really liked without having too many opinions in my ear and now that I now and have it narrowed down I will bring more people because if it isnt the style I like then I wont even try it on! LOL I have been to Punta Cana once and loved, loved it... but over the past two years looking at resorts there it is always way more expensive then anywhere else... not to mention that flying anywhere from Canada that isnt Toronto is super expensive to begin with, maybe one day it will come down in price or we will get mopre competition here and other airlines will have to drop their prices although I dont see that happening within the next 13 months!

I got a little bit of a beeter rate from one... 1600 with taxes now the problem is what to do with my family in Winnipeg the only tour operator offering flights from there is Air Canada and for us in Calgary Air Canada is way more $$ but to qualify for a group rate they need 10 people and there arent 10 so not 100% sure what to do there! Back to the drawing board maybe I need to change resorts or something!!!! I'll keep plugging away I am also waiting for 2 more quotes! I went wedding dress shopping for the first time last Friday it was fun and I am in love with 2 dresses so I didn't buy anything yet... I am going to plan another trip and bring a few more people I only had 2 and each one liked one of the dresses LOL but it is pretty exciting it made it feel real thats for sure!!!

Yeah a lot of my family is kind of against Mexico for a few reasons they have condos in Flordia so for them it isnt much of a holiday and also because of the crime and drug war that is going on there, I could care less I have been there once a year for the past two years I figure there is crime everywhere but hey apperently I lost that argument, also to be honest I have been to Cuba and love everything about it, plus I have already been through this and got my heart set on it! I have a couple different companies looking at it for me and my fingers are crossed hopefully I will hear something soon and I can get it figured out!!!!!

Apperently they come out 10 months in advance, I was told that I am lucky that they are getting them now for me!!! LOL lucky me that I want to bring so much business to their company!

Yeah I know but I wanted my guests to have the year to pay... I will have to double check that there will be a price protection or something for later because seriously I need something to go my way!

Thats what I thought especially a year in advance you would think it woul be way less hopefully someone will come back with something better fingers crossed

It isn't my mom but my FI mom she has one reason after another why she can't come, she doesnt wear shorts, she doesnt like the heat, she can't take more than 4 days off work at a time! Are you kidding me we offered to pay and this is your oldest sons wedding stop being so selfish and just commit and come! I dont even know how much more I can talk to her and be nice about it!!!!!

Yeah I have some more request for quotes out to see what happens, the price is one thing the next is that apperently that flights arent leaving Winnipeg until December... are you kidding me so my TA that I am using right now thinks that I should have them pay to fly to Toronto or Calgary first and then pay the $1900 to go to Cuba, this is getting ridiculous!

Oh no, but I have read that it can take a little time before you can open them! I can open them, but do you think that I can find the ones I want now LOL I am sure you will be able to soon! Hopefully!

ok sounds good I am open to ideas I know that I can get bridesmaid dresses in almost any colour and my original idwa when I was thinking white was a sash of colour for a belt
