We have 65 people at Playacar Palace for our wedding in 2 WEEKS!! I cannot wait to have everyone there because it's a smaller upscale resort (i.e. you don't spend half the time going across the resort in a golf cart like some of the other huge resorts) and because it's literally steps to Fifth Ave where there is TONS to do! You're right next to the ferry to Cozumel too Also, for the older folks (my 85-year-old Grandma is coming) it's also very easy to navigate around. I know I'm biased, but I hope this helps!

Hey ladies! Sorry I haven't been on here in quite some time but I have a ton to report back on from my site visit a month ago. Wilma - head wedding coordinator She is amazing - everything you have read about her is completely true. She will do whatever it takes to make sure you have a fabulous day! Biggest surprise - Lots of renovations Pretty sure they have not posted these anywhere yet and I don't want to freak people out but there is alot going on that isn't supposed to be completed until mid Dec (when high season starts). These are what we are aware of: 1- North Solarium is being turned into approx 8 "Sand Suites" meaning it will no longer be an outdoor location for events (in my opinion it was the best one they had and where we were planning to hold our reception for 60-70 people). They are going to demo the concrete area that is currently there and make the ground floor suites accessible to the beach from their screen doors. 2- South Solarium is getting approx 6 "Swim-up Suites" meaning they are demo-ing the beach area (next to where most of the weddings are held) and expanding it to have a private pool area for the rooms on the ground floor on the South side of the resort. 3- Momo Hana (the Asian restaurant) was closed because they are adding hibachi grills. 2 thumbs up.. Can't wait to try it! 4- On-site Spa.. They currently have their spa and golf course off-site, which is about a 15 min shuttle ride. Should be awesome to have the spa be on the property! I also took an insane amount of pics and video and also took pics of the renderings the resort had made for the Sand and Swim-up Suites. Still waiting to find out when they will start listing those rooms for availability because I definitely want one! Also want to note that if you want any of your events to be truly private that you'll get forced into the Ballroom at some point. I was sad to move our reception there at first but now think it was he right move because everyone is going to want some AC at the end of the day after being in the hot sun! I should note that the set up is a little strange to get to the Ballroom (you have to walk through the gift shop to get there) but its a beautiful space. I learned much more than I'm able to write in here but I hope this helps a few people out. After being there for a long weekend and checking everything out and tasting all the food I know we will not be disappointed for our wedding in January. Was relieved we got the info we did and can now finish planning what we want with hopefully little-to-no surprises. If you want any pics or video or have any questions about the actual resort or layouts.. Please private message me.

Hey ladies! Is anyone on here getting married the weekend of Sept 28-30? If so, I'll be down there scoping out the resort that weekend!! My roommate-for-life and I finally got confirmed to meet with Wilma and the decor and music vendors during our site visit at the end of this month so we can relax and know everything is in good hands for our wedding in Jan 2013. I still don't know exactly where we're having our ceremony, receptions, or private events for 80-100 people - so I plan on taking a bajillion pictures and notes. If there's anything you'd like me to find out or specifically take a picture of, please lemme know! I'm so excited to finally visualize how this is going to come together. Pacificarol and Andrea80 - I'm SO happy to hear you guys have large wedding groups and can't wait to hear all about your weddings and what you decide to do for your decor, music, guests, etc. ATTENTION ALL PP BRIDES............................................... Let's hear about what you have planned for any of the following: wedding date ~ # of guests attending Planning an at home reception? Y/N wedding website - have you created one for your guests? invites - did you do this? some do, some don't - any pics? what themes are you doing (if any) wedding colors # of peeps in the wedding party and what they are wearing types of private events locations for your ceremony, receptions, private events flowers, bouts, etc. decor Anything else fun and festive? Here's what I'm planning: Wedding date: Jan 26, 2013 # of guests attending: 80-100 Planning an at home reception? Nope Wedding website: www.grantandkyra.com Invites - Wanted a super non-traditional and FUN invite so we decided to make them since I dabble in graphic design. It was a LOT of work to assemble but I'm thrilled with how they turned out. Will post a pic when I decide to post it to pinterest Complimentary PP beach set up + want to add a little decor for each of the chairs lining the aisle Colors - blues and orange 5 girls / 5 guys - Girls get to pick their own orange dresses, nude shoes + gold jewelry / Still working on the guys attire. Unlimited private events: Rehearsal dinner, Welcome Fiesta, Morning/Afternoon Bloody Mary & Mimosa bars for bridal suites, Ceremony, Cocktail hour, 4-hour reception Locations - still waiting for confirmations of what's available Flowers - Not going crazy here since we can't take anything home with us.. going to use Parasols for my maids instead of flowers. Decor - I'm a DIYer so I'm gonna be getting creative here. Want to use a bunch of chinese lanterns and papel picados (the mexican paper cutouts), blue sea glass and other fun stuff. Fun and Festive - I really really really really really wanted to get a Tequila Donkey but my man said no dice because then no one would remember our wedding haha. If you don't know what they are, please google it for a good laugh. Okay that's it for now.. PLEASE SHARE!!!!!!!

Maii - See page 37 in the posts I had to DIG in here for this not too long ago, myself. Happy to help a girl out! Here's another PP Miami wedding planner update for you ladies so you're hopefully not going crazy like me...... My PP Miami contact, Janessa Lopez, emailed me on June 29th saying that she will no longer be my PP contact because all planning will be done directly with the resort starting from the August 2012 weddings onward. Someone from the resort will be in touch with me to start the planning process of my day. That's fine and all but I need a contact to answer questions so I can book additional vendors and make sure I don't acquire extra fees in the process. Two weeks later (NOW) and I still don't haven't heard anything so I emailed Wilma this morning and am eagerly waiting for a response. Has anyone else heard about this and gotten a similar response? I have so many questions that I need answering (in writing) by PP for my own documentation and sanity purposes!

Hello ladies!!! After being engaged for 6 months - my fiance and I FINALLY booked our wedding at Playacar Palace for January 26, 2013!!!!!! We're expecting to have roughly 100 people and more than qualify for the unlimited "not really" complimentary events. Are there any other 2013 brides on here? Anyone else expecting 80+ people?? AHHHHHHHHH I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!

Hi Tegan! I'm a newbie to this forum and also looking at OCT for Jan/Feb 2013. Have you had any luck emailing with Ana and getting more information? I've emailed her a few times and have yet to hear anything.. its so frustrating! My fiance and I are looking at around 100-120 people and we're trying to figure out how the cost is going to break down. Seems like we're both in the same boat! Have you decided on a date yet? --KJ
