I leave in 10 days!! We also plan to scope out the markets for some maracas too. We are bringing our own centerpieces and a couple of decoration items, but we are trying not to go overboard. I am super excited and nervous. I have to admit on Friday I found out we got switched to Claudia and they are asking me to fill out a checklist of items that I feel like I have already discussed with Ana. I was a little upset at first because I feel like we are back tracking. We did call her though and it seems that this is typical protocol and everything should still be planned as it was before. Good luck to everyone with their upcoming weddings, it looks like quite a few are taking place in the next couple of weeks!

Hi Danitree, Congratulations on your big day! I am anxious to see some more photos and hear your review. I am getting married here in April and trying to decide if we should hire the resort DJ or not. You suggested that the DJ was not all that interactive. Was this DJ hired in addition to your package, or was this just a person they included to set up the music? We are just trying to figure out if it is worth hiring the DJ if we bring our own music anyway. Thanks for you help!

@sandy borie - Your pictures are beautiful! Congratulations on your wedding. I just recently got in contact with Juan Navarro too, and am hoping to book him for our wedding. I am so excited to pull it all together. Thank you for all of your suggestions!

@leahbecker - I played around with some ideas lately and think I will be bringing mine with me. I found these plastic canisters at the container store used for pasta, food storage. I think they really look pretty good even up close, and are only about $8 a piece. I used some rocks & seashells at the bottom with fake flowers. I haven't really been a fan of the idea of using fake flowers, but I think in centerpiece like this it can be pulled off pretty well since the flowers are under water. If you can find some flowers on sale like I did these can be done for about $15 a piece. By the way, my colors are the light turquoise and orange.

@Stephtastic - Welcome to the forum! Ok, this is really crazy, we have the exact same wedding date! I hope that works out okay. Mine is set for 4 on the lobby terrace. Well good luck with your planning. We just sent our save the dates out a few weeks ago. I'm getting excited to start finalizing the details.

@Shanon09, No, I don't have it all nailed down yet. I have decided on the lobby terrace for the ceremony, but haven't quite figured out the reception. We have some older people coming and I think they will have a hard time on the sand, so I'm glad they have the terrace options! I'm about to send out some save the dates and just put down a deposit for a block of rooms. Have you sent out any save the dates? I didn't know if it was too soon, but I felt like people have been asking me about it so much, it was the right thing to do. Has anyone used any of the musicians, mariachi band, trio, guitarist etc?? We would like to consider some live music for the ceremony and cocktail hour, but I haven't heard any reviews yet. Thanks!

@Shanon09 and QueenBennett. Congrats to you guys! I will also be getting married in April (on the 28th). I was booked for February, but we recently had to push our date back. I'm so excited to finally start planning. @TropicLover. Congratulations on your wedding! Your photos are gorgeous. I think this question has already been asked but where exactly was your reception? It appears to be under a covered area, and I didn't know if that was part of a restaurant or one of the terraces. Thanks for all of your advice, seeing your pictures really helps with the planning!

At the Container Store they have several options in the way of plastic canisters, used to store spaghetti, sticks etc. They actually have some pretty cool options that are about 10-12" tall and run about $12 each. Just take the lid off and you have a vase!

I am about to book a block of rooms for my guests. Could any of you give me any advice on which side would be better to book? Some of my guests have said they do not want to be around kids, and I know that the Maya side is adults only. Is the Ocean Coral side louder, more kids etc? How much of a noticeable difference is there? We might block some rooms on both sides, but we are having a hard time deciding since some of our close family is bringing kids. We don't want some of our parents, grandparents to have to walk across the whole resort though. Anyone have this same dilemma? Thanks!

Hello! Just wanted to introduce myself. This forum has been super helpful! We are planning on marrying in February 2013 possibly at Ocean Coral & Turquesa. If you have any info on this resort please share! I hope to nail down my date in the next couple of weeks. I am also considering other recommendations for resorts in this price range too.
