I actually wore my fake lashes in the water for a TTD the day after they were glued on (the wedding day), I never re-glued them or anything and they lasted!!

Thanks! Upon having our wedding I questioned how great of an idea this book was, lol! Our guests may have had a "few" drinks...or a lot! lol! I don't know how serious people took our guest book idea and we had some poorly written messages, or people just didn't do it at all. We gave people the opportunity to re-write or even just write us one the next day and some did and some didn't. I loved the set up of it and the poem and the whole idea, just the way it all turned out with guests writing their wish for us wasn't what I thought it would be. Now to find something to do with it so our messages are in a book or keepsake of some kind....

Thanks ladies! I was very very happy with it!! Our resort spa had various reviews, some good and some bad, I decided to give it a go figuring "how bad could it be" LOL! I know, what a day to roll the dice on...my wedding day! I have seen people's pics, and even in the ones that weren't so happy with their makeup, it always looked amazing, in my opinion. I think people who like very very subtle makeup and then have something more dramatic done for their wedding are not usually as happy. Remember too, it needs to stay for a long long time in very hot and humid weather and if it doesn't and it runs or whatever it will likely show in your professional pics. I figured the ladies at the spa would know about how to get makeup applied right so it doesn't run or melt or anything like that!

Gilmana, The beach isn't sectioned off so you can all sit there, but the guests from the Tropical cannot order drinks from the coco beach bar at the Palace, they ask to see wrist bracelets. There is no beach drink servers so no one hassles you. We ended up sitting more so to the Colonial/Tropical side with our group so everyone had easy access to drinks, there are also some rocks on different parts of the beach so we sat in areas where we could best walk out into the water. Closer to the Palace side, if you have goggles and snorkelling gear and you just swim out (not even as far as the buoys are) you can see sea turtles everywhere, they are amazing to swim with and watch!

I second all Brenners said ) As well, I wasn't concerned with how close the photographers were to us at the Palace as they aren't in their room when its wedding time, they are in your room and following you around. I booked them at the cheapest I could to save money, so they stayed at the Beach/Caribe and had no issues attending our wedding. Also I do not think that the charger/doc works with iPhones but we didn't try, I have just heard that. I do know that it is not compatible with the new style plug in chargers on iPods/iphones, it is an old style one. Just a couple tips for iPod users... Cross Fade your music - theres a place you can go under settings so it blends the songs into each other, we did this and it sounded great! It is under Settings, then Music, then Audio Crossfade and you turn it ON. Sound Check - it is to monitor the volume of songs and make sure you don't have that crazy loud song that downloaded at a loud volume and then a really quiet one, it sort of checks them and makes them more even.

I thought about extensions for a second but they are too messy looking for me as I am a perfectionist who needs each last in its place and they don't appear to work that way, lol! So onto my next idea, I thought I would try this amazing mascara people raved about, its called Blinc and they sell it at sephora for a whopping $30 per tube....save yourself that trial and don't buy it! LOL! I bought it and only took it to Mexico and not my regular stuff and when I wore it on the first day there I hated it, it made me have 4 chunked together eyelashes on each eye after I was in the water with it. So awful! It is this tube technology that creates tubes on your eyelashes, any which way, I am not a fan of it at all so I returned it to sephora and got my $ back. I ended up wearing fake lashes for the first time ever in my life and they were perfect, I put waterproof mascara over them (one I borrowed from a friend called Lash Stiletto or something, it was great) and my eyelashes were perfect! I even woke up the day after the wedding and my eyelashes were still on, I re-did my mascara and fixed my foundation and went off to do a underwater TTD in a cenote and my lashes still pulled through! Here is a pic from the spa on the wedding day - the girl doing my makeup put my eyelashes I brought it on for me )

For any of you ladies going to Mexico for sure, possibly other destinations, make sure you take receipts with you for what everything you are bringing in costs. We didn't carry much down with us, 15 small glass vases, about 5 frames with pictures, cellophane, wedding favours and cake server set and such and we were asked how much what we had was worth (the limit in Mexico is $300 to bring in) and my brother who was carrying just a couple frames and vases in his luggage was actually asked what his stuff was worth too. Nothing close to $300 but if you had a lot of stuff I could imagine them getting picky! Spreading it out amongst family members is a great option if available, just make sure you give them receipts in case they are asked )

Its coming up SO fast! I hope you have the time of your life! The spa prices are high but it seems they offer discounts all over... they give you "resort credits" when you check in and there are discount coupons that can knock approximately $20 off each service (I think it was), I went to use coupons for my girls but instead they gave me 20% off and it worked out to be a better discount that way. When you check in check at the hotel look at the front desk, there was a spa paper posted when we were there saying if you asked about it they gave a discount (unsure of what it is), they also give discounts if you are in club premium. They charge in pesos and when we were there they gave approximately 12.9 pesos to the $1 which is pretty darn good!

I used the spa for my hair and makeup and I had three other girls have their hair done as well and they all loved how it turned out, I have no regrets with using them. ALL of their makeup is MAC too! As for the vendor fees, I asked several times and in different ways and was told every time I had to pay $500 for EACH vendor I had come in or have them stay two nights, though I never had to show proof that they were staying or anything, they even stayed at the Beach and we had no issues. I even tried to use the photography company for video to avoid the fee and when they told me I had to still pay it for my photographer I decided to not use their company for anything.

Cocos beach?
FireyNurse replied to chanelhall5's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Hi there! This may be where ours was, initially our was to be at Coral Beach and then we were moved to the beach in front of the Coco Bar, my guess is that it's name may be Coco Beach?! The backup is the palapa where the ping pong tables/activities area is, instead of the Banquet hall like the backup to Coral Beach was. We loved everything about our reception area, the sand was amazing to dance on and the trees wrapped in lights makes everything magical! When we were on the beaches there were people stubbing their toes on rocks and stuff like that but the day of the wedding the sand was raked and combed over and was nothing but smooth! If your guests are staying mostly at the palace or between the palace and colonial/tropical this is a fantastic beach because it is just a short walk to anyone's room - I wasn't a fan of Playa Azul as it is way too far down the beach near the beach/caribe part of the resort! Happy Planning! -
We went with AirTransat, who I would NOT recommend booking a group with because it was a disaster! But the reason we went this way of booking, with a provider, was because flights, airport transportation and hotel and taxes were all in one package, no extra fees or supries. There is no way to not have the people at the airport accost you, we just told everyone to keep walking until they were outside where there was a bus waiting. Whether you do private van transport for your group or go with a travel providers bus transport your group will have to pass all the madness in the Cancun airport either way. We decided to offer two rates and everyone appreciated it and most actually booked the cheaper rate that was at the Colonial, and they all loved the hotel! We didn't have any issues at all with them staying at the Colonial and us at the Palace. The beach is HUGE and we always sort of sat in the same area as a group of whoever wanted to (between the Colonial and Palace). As for the lobby, which is what most say they like the best about the Palace, we prefer not to sit in air conditioning anyways so we never used our own Palace lobby bar because it was air conditioned and very loud most times. Something else we did was watch the night shows at the Colonial theatre because the Palace one is indoors and cold and we didn't enjoy it. If we did it again I would offer the two rates again because it worked out perfect for everyone. If there are people in the group who want to stay at the Palace and that is it then obviously there's an issue because the other guests can't access all the services there and hang out with them, but our group was great and no one minded hanging out where everyone could go. They do have premium alcohol at all the bars, if you are a Palace person you just ask for it by name and show your wrist band. We also had two people join us for dinner at the Brazilian restaurant (which colonial guests have to pay for) and they never charged them the $15 per person once we were there. The entire resort is beautiful, its not like if you walk to the Colonial its cheaper and therefore dirtier or anything, the whole complex is amazing and perhaps your guests would appreciate the option of being able to pay less if they wanted. Happy Planning! Cheers!

Hi! Thanks! and ask any questions you have, these forums sure helped me in my year of planning!! I am not sure but I think it charged it, it was basically a charger plug in cord that played through these massive speakers - as far as I know they do not have the new charger style doc (like all the new iPods and iPads with the little mini charger port). We did not do a dance floor because it is SOOO expensive and many people on here said they didn't use it and enjoyed the sand. They do have these bright lights on you and your reception area, as well as the trees wrapped in lights also. It was plenty bright for us. They also rake the sand and make it really nice so you aren't stepping on rocks or anything. Everyone had their shoes off, including me and it was so much fun, I wouldn't have liked dancing on a cold hard dance floor nearly as much, though the lighting part is cool we didn't think it was worth the extra $$.

Bringing it all to Mexico
FireyNurse replied to BridetobeABCD's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
We were asked how many people we had with us going through customs and the lady said to me "because you have a lot of wedding supplies" - we had 15 small square vases ($3 each) and then a few frames with pictures in them and message in a bottle favours as well as napkins, my hanger and some other things - nothing major! I had my MOH and mother going through with my husband and I and so I said 4 and she said "ok" and let us go. My brother and his fiancé were searched and they asked how much everything was worth and she just say the vases were $2 and the frames she had were $3 to $5, they let them go no problem. -
To Veil or not to Veil?
FireyNurse replied to juliboley's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I don't have any pictures of my veil on me yet at the ceremony but I wore a fingertip length veil so as not to interrupt and take away from my ruffles on my dress, it was a shimmery material and also had swarovski crystals scattered throughout it, I was considering putting weights on it but I actually forgot about doing it. Shockingly there was NO wind on our wedding day, I had told my MOH to tuck it into my dress if the wind took it and blew it in my face but there was no problem at all! The rhinestones on the belt on my dress did keep attaching to the veil and would pull my head a bit but I got used to it and just would gently pull it off the belt. Here are a few pics of my dress veil combination: -
So sorry to be flooding this with my posts, figured I'd get them all out while I have time! Here are our playlists for dinner and the dance, looking back I might have put a few more songs on each, we thought we had plenty and we did have enough but could have been safer with more Dinner started with our first dance song as we did that first before anything else so the photographer and videographer were still there for it: Dance:

Here are some pictures of my hair and makeup and one of my girls' hair from the spa. My girls had very long hair and both had it put up in a curly side bun type style, this one one of them. Forgive my face in this shot, I was being a goof, lol: The back with a little pouf to put my veil in: Letting the curls set while they did my makeup: One of the side bun variations they created:
