We went We went with the surf and turf theme for the whole dinner, we figured it was a safe way for people to have something they liked, either steak or seafood. We had Sea scallop ceviche to start, lobster bisque for soup, surf and turf for main and the raspberry tiramisu for dessert. We chose coconut for our cake flavour and it was also amazing! I can't comment on the food myself as I am a vegetarian and I had food off that menu but I know that every person in our wedding group raved about the food, even the soup! The dessert was apparently so tasty that people ate mine and my hubby's while we were away doing pictures.

I booked the room on the mybarcelo.com site and booked it under the photographers name and address/phone number, I chose the room for 2 guests and I put a note in the section where I could and stated 'this room is for ... (Name of photographer) and his assistant to attend Charity's wedding' I have the photographer the confirmation booking number. If you are booking the room and your wedding isn't for a little while make sure you wait and keep checking back and get a good Barcelo Happy Days rate! It will save you hundreds!

Check with your bank/card provider about fees, we didn't have any issue with ours for the wedding, the exchange rate was great and no huge fees associated. when we previously went to Mexico and rented a place in town we were there for an extended amount of time and shopping like locals so we needed to use pesos. when we looked into our cards, my hubby's bank charged crazy fees for international card use on his debit card and mine did not. We now are both with my bank because of the ease for travel and cheap cost for international bank machine use.

USD for the cash. As for the other larger amount to pay the resort, we used our visa for it as it was a huge amount of cash to be taking down. Make sure you call the credit card prior to going, though, as a large transaction in Mexico will surely be declined if you don't. I told them we would be there, also said it would be a large transaction and to put a note on my account. This way we also got the travel points too the conversion that is used when your card is charged is fantastic, about 13 pesos to 1 usd when we were there!

LOL, i could imagine your concern, for some reason this was not something I was concerned about at all, not sure why but it just didn't cross my mind, haha. I got our video recently and I can watch it and try to write down exactly what was said, if that would help. We didn't give him anything, he just said his own stuff. He did ask my husband little simple questions about us (all while the party walked down the isle mostly) and then he threw them in as little details, like how long we were together, that kinda thing. The Hands poem was a total fluke that he read it and we also were wanting it read.

The minister we got, who I believe is who they have for most symbolic ceremonies was fantastic. Our ceremony was fantastic and super touching. He read a part of the Hands poem (google it and you can see what it says). We were going to have this poem read by my hubby's mom so when he read it she heard it and discretely put hers away and he came to the part to add our reading in and asked us if we had a reading and we just quietly said no and he moved on. Then he asked us after vows to say something from the heart to each other. We knew this was coming because brides on here had warned about it and we had decided to tell each other simply 'I love you' You do have the option to have someone you know do the ceremony for you, then you can script it now you want and don't have to pay their officiant the $400.

Hey! It's getting SO close for you, super exciting!! I can maybe provide some clarity on some things... The $66 per person is for the meals for each guest over 15. Yes you have to pay it for all guests eating that are over the 15 included...but in my opinion, $66 for a 4 course meal that is privately served on a beach and may include surf and turf (if you chose it) isn't bad. The reception includes 3 hours of drink service...you pay per person per hour over 3 hours. I believe it was $12 per person we paid. We extended our reception up front by 2 hours, then when we were given our 15 min warning that it was ending we were asked if we would like to extend it and we did for one more hour. I had a videographer and a photographer and yes it's $500 per vendor (if they are the same company it's one fee, mine were two different companies). Or to save money here go online to Barcelo.com, sign up for mybarcelo and book your people 2 nights staying at the cheapest resort (beach or caribe) and it'll likely be cheaper than the $1000 fees. Mine totaled less than $600 for the two rooms for two nights. We didn't do a rehearsal dinner at the resort cause I figured they'd charge something for it so we went to Playa Del Carmen and ate out at our favourite restaurant. I have heard people on here say recently that there were fees involved with rehearsal dinners at the resort, I am not sure what the facts are behind that. As well as negotiating, I am not sure what the chances are of getting things cheaper or free, we had a group of 20, so not enough pull for anything, haha, but I have seen a post on here about a free cocktail hour because the group was so large. That's all I have for answers for ya, hopefully other people chime in and you'll get everything answered that you are looking for Cheers!

We had the strawberry package but our timeline for the reception was a little different than some people. We had our intro as the married couple, first dance, cut the cake (for pictures) then sat down and had speeches/toasts done prior to dinner being served. Dinner was then served and then we partied! We used the iPod for our music and it worked perfect and was such a great inexpensive option! I will attach our playlists right away. We didn't do anything special at the ceremony, we had a Hands speech to be read but didn't know that the justice of peace used the Hands saying in his talking bit so we did without our speech. (I've uploaded the playlist from my phone so if it doesn't work ill do it again and try a different way) Cheers! Happy planning!

I live in calgary and she shipped it to me, if I'm not mistaken I just asked her for a shipping rate to Calgary before I ordered.

What we did to ease the cost issue for people and give options is we also got quotes for the Colonial/Tropical. No one was offended and they really appreciated the option to stay at either resort, most people actually opted for the Colonial! Not sure if this is something you might consider but its an option! I know our guests really appreciated it and I think had we only provided the quotes for the Palace we may have had fewer guests, as it is only a couple hundred per person cheaper when you are a couple or a family a couple hundred per person adds up quick!

Be sure to Check with your resort as to what they allow because I know many have restrictions on fake petals because they are garbage/pollution for the environment.

We ended up having to change our wedding date due to Air Transat and booking early and not knowing travel dates too! Initially our invites said nov 29 and then we were like OMG if flights are fri-fri everyone would be leaving the morning after our wedding. We put it on Wednesday, and sent out an email update to everyone, so that if I was fri-fri, sat-sat or sun-sun we would be safe. Such a hassle, I know your pain!
