I think its gorgeous, looks like they did a fantastic job! I am with Allie that the flower looks quite a bit larger than on the original but thats about it....the beaded belt also makes quite a difference, although, even if you didn't go with a beaded belt it would still look fantastic! Have you tried it on yet? for the little changes you might want to be sure you get it on and have it all laced up, that's when you may notice small tucks and changes you may need done. Congrats on having your dress!!!

I purchased this veil from this seller and it is AMAZING! I am in love with it and can't wait to wear it! http://www.etsy.com/listing/56448993/shimmering-angel-cut-fingertip-length (mine also had scattered swarovski crystals on it) Also, the tutu I posted earlier that I purchased, it finally came in and it is SOOOOOO adorable and is going to look amazing on our wedding day! http://www.etsy.com/listing/77293332/vibrant-violet-tutu-plum-purple-lavender?ga_search_query=purple&ga_search_type=user_shop_ttt_id_5205990 Both sellers were awesome to work with and I highly recommend them!

Dress Shopping Help
FireyNurse replied to kisha311's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I am no expert but I wore a nude strapless bra and a pair of white boy short underwear... I wasn't sure of what the change room style would be and in case anyone didn't want to see my butt I thought I better cover it! lol! The dresses weren't my size and needed to be clipped and pinned tighter on me so I had lots of material to cover me up, but the opposite may be the case if the dresses on display were smaller. The store I almost bought my dress from told me they always order a bigger one than you need so that it can be altered later, so losing weight wasn't an issue as I had to have the dress altered either way. I ended up buying one that was made for me so hopefully my alteration bill will now be minimal! Good luck with the dress hunt and have FUN! -
To Veil or not to Veil?
FireyNurse replied to juliboley's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I had been going back and forth on veil or no veil as well but once when I was trying on a dress and had one put on I felt like a total bride and decided yup I needed a veil, even if I only wear it for the ceremony and pictures! You could always do a fingertip length veil and then it wouldn't take anything away from or cover up the ruffle detail on the bottom of the dress. As for hair, I have medium/long hair so I don't have suggestions for hair but I did just google "short hair with a veil" and google images comes up with many different options, I think any length of hair can still look fantastic with a veil! Good Luck! And Beautiful dress by the way!!!! -
Starfish Passing Thread
FireyNurse replied to becks's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I am wondering if there is a starfish available for my wedding date, I will be married Nov 28th 2012. My trip is from Nov 25-dec 9. Thanks ladies!! -
We are trying to decide on centrepieces and are struggling between paying for them at the resort or bringing our own down....can anyone give some advice on what they did? We will have less than 25 people likely, nothing big and not too many tables, and were hoping for a vase with flowers and water and crystals in the bottom or something along those lines. I know the planner sent me some options they have but they are not exactly cheap, I am just not sure if the price is worth it instead of the hassle of taking them down with us. thanks!!

NO GUEST HAVE BOOKED!!!!
FireyNurse replied to malikmakhi's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
We thought giving people 90 days to put a deposit down was a great idea and would be helpful to people and almost everyone waited until the last three weeks to do it, we even had people putting their deposits down in the last 3 hours of the last day! Our wedding is Nov 2012 and we are thinking more people will book, I think many of our potential guests are just hoping prices will go down and/or they will book last minute! It can be tough to bring it up with guests because I felt that people kind of lied to us just to appease us and make us happy and then when the deadline passed they messaged us saying "you might have noticed we didn't book but....." I left it with guests saying that they could feel free to book anyway they wanted up until the wedding and to just rsvp if they decided to come. -

I messaged her with all our pictures and description for ours and our wedding is in November 2012, she said she will start it in August. You have to read her fine print because you don't actually pay for it until you have sort of given it the "approval" (which I am positive we will, because I love all her work) so I technically have ordered it already but she said she has it in her book to start in August. Not sure if that helps, but I guess it does mean you have some time! Cheers! -
Something you wish you would have packed?

Does anyone have a recommendation as to where to get small cake boxes? I am currently googling around, but recommendations are greatly appreciated -

I haven't actually done it yet as I am not married, lol, but yes in Alberta its the same thing - you assume the name instead of legally changing it. Legally changing your name means you change the name that is written on your birth certificate, where as assuming it involves getting married and taking on a new last name.

Thanks! And yes ours were card stock, here is the exact paper we used with all the specifics on it: http://www.paper-garden.ca/proddetail.php?prod=CM-811C-VI (also, if you are looking for paper and the company ships to where you are we have nothing but great things to say about our experience with them and their products were fabulous!!!)
-
We used card stock but to avoid the paper from cracking and breaking we had to score it first....you can buy a tool to do this at a craft store, we just used a magazine under the paper and then after measuring where exactly where we were folding it on each side (we had like a 3 sided pocket) we put a ruler down and used the back of a butter knife (a dull hard thing) to push down on the paper and ran it back and forth once, this gave the paper a nice little spine to bend on. My dear FI tried once but he had a bit too heavy of a hand, lol, and it almost cut through the card stock. I have a thread up with our boarding pass invites along with the sleeves if you click my name you can see it on threads I started I think Good Luck!

ugh I bet that is so frustrating! Perhaps it would be worth checking into the fine print if you haven't already because AT had something in the fine print for us that had to do with if flights changed we could get our deposits back...I don't know the exact condition and how it worked as we haven't needed to use it but perhaps it could help so that your people wouldn't miss the wedding entirely. FI's sister made a bit of a stink with their company after they made the big changes to their flights on such short notice and they actually ended up helping them out and gave a credit for the people who were negatively affected so they could fly with another provider on another day. I completely understand the gateway thing as well as we have people flying out of Toronto, Calgary and Edmonton and we are praying that each gateway's times don't change too drastically because people will be pretty upset! Fingers crossed there aren't anymore major changes for your group or AT does something to help you guys out!!

We just passed our deadline to put a deposit down for our group with Air Transat. Our wedding is Nov 2012 and we JUST got our flight dates and times now for November as flight schedules were not released yet. Just curious how did you guys get your schedules so early? I am not sure if you are using a travel agent or not but we are using one who is a personal friend and she has warned us to be very aware that it is entirely possible that flights can and do change at any time. My FI's sister booked her wedding with another company (Thomas Cook or something, I am not entirely sure) and her flights were changed the week before her wedding resulting in the changes shortening her trip by almost an entire day. It definitely stinks but apparently it is a common occurrence! I would say to hope that the flights don't change again (as we are hoping that as well) but my travel agent has made it quite clear that this is often the case so we are prepared so we aren't too alarmed if she has news about flights changing....for this reason we put our wedding day in the middle of the trip, so in the case that the flights are changed either way we won't be impacted too much. Happy Planning!

Barcelo Maya
FireyNurse replied to MelissaH's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
We will be married there this November and yes the fee is now $500US to the Kodak/ Smile Market people OR you can pay for two nights accommodation (which is cheaper) It stinks but we are paying it since we are not interested in their photographers or their packages they offer. -
Thank you SOOOO much for posting this, I totally forgot about this song but before being engaged I used to play this song to my FI because I LOVE this version!!! Artist: Prince Royce title: Stand by Me. listen here:http://youtu.be/mnmvh7akbWo It also has some Spanish in it, which I think is great for a Mexico wedding. Enjoy! Lori
