  1. Lovesnick, if you are looking for an inexpensive second dress and Novia Mia doesn't have a sale or what you are looking for you can also check Vespucci, its a huge consignment store in Calgary and they often have a bunch of wedding dresses. I don't know what the styles are like or prices but I have seen them in there, so it might be worth a peak. It is on Elbow drive and Heritage in the South. Cheers! Charity
  2. I agree with you entirely! I bought my dress at Novia Mia and took 3 different dress styles and combined them to be my dream dress. I was SO nervous how it would all turn out in the end and when I went to pick it up it was PERFECT! I do need some minor alterations done but that it because of body changes and the shape of my dress, Adriana's mother is a seamstress so I will be going to see her for my final adjustments. Novia Mia also has a fantastic selection of bling belts and additional accessories at great prices! They even do bridesmaid dresses too!! I strongly recommend people check them out! (pics of my dress will be posted in early December after our wedding)
  3. Looks like my link may not work... So in case it doesn't the site is Timber Ridge Studio and the site is www.trs240.com Cheers!
  4. In case anyone is looking for real seashells or starfish for any projects or anything I thought I'd pass along where I ordered from and had a great expereince! the site is http://www.trs240.com/index.html She has a ton of options and selection of shells and starfish, etc. Best of all she ships to Canada and shipping is totally reasonably priced at $4.50! I purchased shells and mini starfish for our mini message in a bottle favours and theycame packed carefully so that none broke while in transit and they arrived super quick!
  5. oops, not sure why, try this - go to http://www.ayleebits.com/ and click on templates at the top where there are different tabs, you can find passport templates there. If this link doesn't work just google Aylee Bits and it will come up. Cheers!
  6. KristieT, she said she used Aylee Bits template for the Passport and turned it sideways, I also used her template for our Boarding Pass invites. You can find her templates here for free: http://www.ayleebits.com/templates.htm Cheers!
  7. I was just at RW & Co yesterday and they have an off white coloured dress shirt, might be worth a try if you haven't already checked there ) Good Luck!
  8. I finally heard back from Victoria, she has changed her mind apparently as she first said I only had to pay the outside vendor fee once for my videographer and photographer and she has now said I have to pay the $500 for each vendor I have come in OR pay for 2 nights for each vendor. For any of you booking your photographer nights at the hotel it is Happy Days at the mybarcelo site if you sign up (its free) you can book them in right on the site. We are having both our photographer and his assistant as well as the videographer and his assistant stay two nights in separate rooms and the total was just under $600 for both rooms together so we are actually saving $400 by having them stay the nights instead of paying the resort for them to be there. Eeeeek we will be in Mexico in all our wedded bliss two months from today!
  9. Day passes are $97 if I remember correctly! I am in the midst of doing the same type of dealing with the WC Victoria, it hasn't been easy! What I have found out so far is even if I used the on site photographer for just video for the ceremony I still had to pay $500 or have my photographer stay 2 nights (2 nights at the Beach is MUCH cheaper than the $500), so I decided forget it I hate their vendor so I will bring in my own for video too if they are charging me either way. So now we are having PlayaWeddings come in as well and when I asked about the vendor fee she said I only have to pay the $500 once. I tried to confirm if I had to purchase day passes for everyone else and she has yet to get back to me. It is SUPER frustrating because we are trying to do it the cheapest way possible, but with us leaving for our wedding in EXACTLY 60 days we are running out of time! lol! Let me know what you hear and I'll keep you posted if I hear! )
  10. We are doing a message in a bottle guest book and I am asking for a separate table to be set up for this. We will set up some pictures of us and the guest book set up will be there as well with a frame that has the memo on how to do the guest book. I am not sure how else this will look but this is the beginning of our planning for it.
  11. You might want to confirm this rate and print your confirmation email off as the rate is now $500 as my wedding coordinator has advised me of and I am also getting married this November.
  12. One or two nights, either way how did you book it? if it was online was it under your name or the photographers name or how did that work?
  13. I did boarding pass invites for our wedding so I haven't ever looked for a Canadian Passport logo but in case you can't find one that works what about doing something like a passport style invite still but a tropical/island style pic on the front (a palm tree or starfish or sand dollar) and put something like Passport to Paradise or something like that so its still keeping with the travel passport/destination theme. Or another idea is a map of Mexico or a Mexican Passport symbol maybe. Good Luck!
  14. I am wondering if any previous brides/grooms can answer a question regarding booking your photographer in at the resort?! If I book through the Barcelo site for 2 nights do I have to put in the comments or notes that the photographer is staying there, or do I have to make sure to meet him at the entrance of the resort to make sure he gets in to get the room or how does it work when I am booking him on my credit card under my name but for him to stay?! I am so confused and don't want my confusion to cost us more money! Thanks!!
  15. We did go through a Travel Agent and got group rates through her, we also checked a few other ways to travel ourselves as a group or booking individuals and the travel agents group rates were the cheapest at that time and still now they are the cheapest we have seen to stay at the Barcelo out of Calgary or Toronto. I would do your homework, though, and check a few places and get different quotes because they can change quite a bit between agents and also travel companies. It also depends on who is going and how comfortable they are with travelling and booking and such...besides the great prices with our travel agent I thought it was easiest for everyone to contact her with what they wanted, whether it be different flights or options for resorts, etc, I didn't want to have to deal with the whole group and millions of questions as I am an easy expedia last minute traveller and many of our guests are not. Happy Planning!
  16. I do know that if you are not staying at the Palace and want your ceremony at the Palace Gazebo you have to pay $15 per person to use it for your ceremony. We are one of very few of our party staying at the Palace and having our ceremony at the Gazebo and we don't have to pay any fees because we are there. Otherwise there are no other new fees I know of. Cheers!
  17. Looks like I can't even use the service anyway as they don't ship the cameras outside the US and I am in Canada. (
  18. That looks like such a great idea! I hope someone responds with some info!
  19. There is no charge for a day pass, although there are some places that you cannot use at the Palace unless you are staying there, such as the Carrey Bar and two of the restaurants (which you have to pay $15 per person if you want to eat there). As far as I was told by our WC because we are staying at the Palace and having our ceremony at the Gazebo we don't have to pay for guests to attend the Ceremony, if we stayed at the Colonial/Tropical or Beach/Caribe we would have to pay $15 per person who was at the ceremony at the Gazebo.
  20. I haven't been married at the resort yet but have done all of my planning for my Nov 28, 2012 wedding so I might be able to give a few helpful hints! Apparently they do not allow substations so if you want a Beach reception as well as ceremony then you have to go with the Strawberry package instead, or your reception will be inside in a banquet hall. All of the Barcelo resorts all allow children, at least as far as I know there are no restrictions on them. I know there are a TON of posts on this thread but they really are super fantastic and helpful to go through when you have some time, you will probably find many great hints and tips on anything and probably everything you might want to know about this fantastic resort! People post great pictures and everything! Happy Planning!
  21. Thanks for the info! I thought I saw one bride had used the resort company for something minor and because they weren't losing her business entirely she didn't have to pay the fee, but I could be mistaken, I look at SO much on here I might be mixed up! I will check out Visual Media! Thanks!
