  1. You definitely might have an early start to your wedding day!
  2. Our wedding was at 5pm and I had my hair/makeup appt at 1:30. The timing was pretty good I think, I had a little time to myself directly after before my family all came to my room for the last hour. Hope that helps! My makeup and hair held all the way to the end of the evening with no running or smudging or anything, and we had dinner outside as well!
  3. If it helps, we also booked a Jr Suite Tropical View, and were upgraded to the Preferred Side. I am pretty sure you'll end up on the preferred side
  4. Just a note, I didn't remember to bring false lashes with me, and they do not sell them at the resort so I had to go without. So remember to pack them! Another bride answered that they did have glue when she was there, so that part might be good. I'd bring some just to be sure if possible.
  5. Hi All, We were married at the Now Jade on April 18th. I've just posted my review: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/now-jade-riviera-cancun/reviews/7263 If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Best wishes to all of you! Jen
  6. Hi Ladies, We just got back from the resort and I just wanted you to know that this orange lounge is nice and it overlooks the fountain area. However, the downside is that is is literally right outside the coffee shop and entrance to the buffet (the only entrances to these places). So you might find you will have a lot of people roaming through or right beside your cocktail hour. It could be a nice place to have a welcome party though. It's very central. I saw someone use it for a cocktail hour while we were there, and they did rope it off, but many people still have to walk by to get to the buffet and coffee shop. Jen
  7. We just got back, and I would say the pools are a little chilly in the morning, but very quickly heat up to a very comfortable temperature by about 11am. I wouldn't worry at all! Some of our group literally stayed in the pool ALL afternoons most days.
  8. Have a great wedding Allison! Hope your day is beautiful! We don't arrive until after your wedding, but maybe see you around the resort later in the week
  9. Good idea, my sister did parasols and they were cost effective and looked really pretty in her photos!
  10. Hi All, Is anyone else getting married on April 18th? We had booked a photographer a YEAR ago, but they have cancelled on us just today (disaster). Just wondering if anyone might have one there already that day? Thanks, Jen
  11. Hi! I ordered mine from justartificats, I think I ordered about 26 of them, and the shipping to BC was about $17. Hope that helps! Jen
  12. Hi All, Does anyone happen to have measurements for the Terrace? I'm trying to decide how comfortable it would be for a head table (for the bridal party) and 4 round tables. Anyone know how comfortably this would fit/look? If anyone has any info or advice, that would be great! Thanks! Jen
  13. Hi All, Here are a few things I've ordered from Etsy: 1. Guestbook: http://www.etsy.com/listing/79496218/ivory-pearl-wedding-guest-book? 2. Favor stickers http://www.etsy.com/listing/120179846/personalized-thank-you-stickers-mums? Customizable colors, we opted to add our wedding date as well. 3. Placecards http://www.etsy.com/listing/69712206/modern-bloom-place-cards-set-of-25-place? Also customizable colors, and they print them (we didn't want to) I love them all!
  14. I believe that there is a very large fee for using an external vendor for flowers...I am sure someone will have the exact amount, but I believe it was quite a lot (hundreds of dollars)...so that might eat up any savings you get from doing outside of the resort
  15. Congrats! We are getting married the day after you at the Now Jade I think it took about a week for the Now Jade to send a confirmation of the deposit paid to my travel agent. If it's been much longer than that, it might be good to confirm. Congrats again on making your decision. I agree with the others, it seems to get easier from here! It seems like Pilar doesn't really need any detailed info until a couple months out, but they can send you a planning form with all of the info you'll eventually need to decide on!
  16. I believe they quoted me $180 but it was for something a bit smaller than this. Not sure if it depends on size or not?
  17. Yeah it is a bit crazy but not too bad as I only have the one maid of honour, no other bridesmaids We decided to do no boutonnieres as groom and best man both have tattooed up arms and I thought the flowers would look funny on them...lol! They weren't upset at all
  18. Hi shannonmarie, In my experience, I am swapping out the Eternity corsages and boutinieres, but still have to pay an additional $40 for my maid of honour's bouquet. So it doesn't seem like a great deal to do this Oh well, I am doing it anyways Jen
  19. Hi Mlite, Our guests travelling from Calgary will be paying under $1700 (with our concession, it will be just over $1600). Sorry we didn't have any prices for Edmonton, as most of our guests are from BC. Hope this helps, Jen
  20. Hi Cassidy, We are also getting married at the Now Jade next April! The sunsets should be around 7pm at that time of year (there are a few sites you can find the exact times for your day, try this one: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?n=923&month=4&year=2011&obj=sun&afl=-11&day=1) We are doing almost what you have listed: 5pm ceremony 5:30-6:30 cocktail hour 7-10 dinner Hope this helps! Jen
