Iberostar Rose Hall Beach (IRHB) February 2012
albellis replied to leslioni's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Congrats to everyone who got married last month! I would love to know where you decided to have your ceremony - the beach or the balcony? What time of day was the ceremony and were there any issues with onlookers getting in the way of pictures? I am getting married at the IRHB in April 2013. I really want my ceremony on the beach but have seen some pictures of other guests in the bathing suites all up along the ceremony site and swimming right in the background of the pictures. I am planning on having the ceremony at either 5 or 5:30 and am hoping that most people will be getting ready for dinner and not really hanging out on the beach anymore. Any feedback you can provide is greatly appreciated! -

I've got a question for any brides that have already been married at the IRHB or future ones that may have already inquired with the WC about this... I am picking out songs for the ceremony, and thought it would be nice to have some songs play while everyone is arriving (maybe 15 minutes before the ceremony). Will they allow this? I also wanted to have a few songs play after the ceremony while the champagne toast takes place. How much time is there afterwards? I was thinking about preparing another 15 minutes of music (not just the recessional song). Has anyone done this type of arrangement? -

I have a cousin who is a professional photographer, so we will be bringing her with us. She will be staying at the resort, so it is my understanding that we won't have to pay any extra fees for her. -
Thanks ladies I am really hoping people send back the pre-RSVP cards. My FI has a pretty large family and I think they could go either way with attending or not, so this will greatly help with planning. I gave people until mid-April to respond, so if we haven't gotten many back I'll have my FI start sending emails and making phone calls!

I knew the Grand was adults only, but the information I have states that the Suites allows children. They have a Lucy's Kids Club on their property... are you sure you weren't speaking with someone at the Grand? Our date is April 27, 2013. I did everything via email and used the general wedding email address on the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach website (under the wedding section). The person answering my emails was Kymoya and the email address is [email protected] -

Yes, we are all set with our date, and I actually just sent out our Save the Dates 3 days ago . I had everything confirmed within 5 days of our initial request. Have you decided which resort you want to go with? I know you were looking at both the Suites and the Beach. -

Glad to hear you can get your STDs out! Good idea with having your TA call. Happy planning, I'm sure the next year will go by really quick -
I just sent out my Save the Dates for our April 2013 wedding this morning I got so many ideas from other brides on here, so I wanted to return the favor. I don't have colors picked out yet, but I really liked the picture I used for the magnet, so I expanded the other items off that. I went with the beach/tropical theme for now. The paper and envelopes came from paperandmore.com. I used the champagne pearlescent metallic color since it reminded me of sand. The magnets and post cards were from Vistaprint, with the magnet photo coming from canstockphoto.com. The flower on the envelope was a rubber stamp purchased on Etsy. We decided to use a pre-RSVP post card to get an idea of the number of people planning to join us, and will send a formal RSVP with the invitations.

Any 2013 weight loss brides out there?
albellis replied to kkimi88's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
Exactly, one step at a time! I am getting married April 2013 and have quite a bit of weight to lose to get to my goal weight. Both me and my FI want to get into better shape for the wedding and just to get healthier. We've made some good changes in what we eat (more vegetables, fish, lean meats and less carbs), but there is always room for improvement. Now we just need to get better with the exercise portion. We have Wii Fit, does anyone have any experience/suggestions with other weight loss games for the Wii? If anyone has any good tips, recipes, or anything else to share, please do! I'm sure we could all use it Good luck everyone! -
You'll have to let us know how your trip goes! For me, it came down to the costs. I wanted to keep a week-long vacation to $1500 per person (all inclusive resort and airfare). When we were looking at prices the Beach allowed us to stay within that amount. To bump up to the Suites would have been an extra $1000 for me and FI, and we decided that we would rather use that money for other wedding items, whether it was having a cocktail reception at the resort or putting it towards our AHR when we return. And I knew that some family members weren't going to be able to go over that $1500 amount either, so I was trying to keep our guests in mind. I think there may be some differences in the wedding packages (pricing specifically) between the 3 resorts, so you should check that out as well. The Grand is adults only, so if you have family or guests that have children you may want to choose the Suites or Beach. There is a thread on here with an Iberostar Suites roll call, check that out and see if anyone has listed their wedding for the week you are staying there and try to get in touch with them. By the way, I saw that the Suites has a lazy river. That is the one thing I will miss by not staying there, I would have totally been hanging out in the river with a drink the day after the wedding! Are there any suggestions you can make in choosing between the 3, also what sort of things should I know when I go there for the visit. We are going May 12-19 if any of you ladies are getting married that week I'd love to catch a peek of the wedding to get an idea of what I should expect! Thanks so much!

My Real Touch Flowers!!!
albellis replied to jenna326's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
The bouquets look amazing! I am planning on using the real touch flowers for my wedding, and have looked into using Roberta since she does great work and has good reviews. Have you thought about how you will be getting them to Punta Cana? Are you carrying them with you on the plane? Any concerns? -

When I received my confirmation certificate, they sent an agreement to complete as well (maybe 3-4 pages). Did they send that to you? If so, and you returned that, then I would say that you have your date locked in. Maybe the CC form was just an accidental attachment. Of course I can completely understand your frustration with them, after all, it should be simple enough to send an email with "Yes, you're date is confirmed". Are you sending the email to the general wedding email address, or do you have one for a specific person? I would like to make a suggestion... Send them another email and be overly polite. Say you understand that they are busy with upcoming weddings and you want to make sure they have everything they need from you to confirm your date of May 24, 2013. I would put something in the subject line like "Follow Up (last name) Wedding Request". It sounds like they are in the middle of a staff turnover and I am sure they are busy and getting a lot of brides contacting them, probably some that aren't very nice. I have found out through my own job (trade show and event planner) that being nice and understanding goes a lot farther than screaming and yelling. Keep me posted on how it goes -
I am southwest of Milwaukee, near the Burlington area. Although this winter hasn't been bad at all, I am sure most of our guests will be greatful to have a reason to head somewhere tropical in April

Hi everyone! My name is Andrea and I am from Wisconsin. I will be getting married in Montego Bay, Jamaica on April 27, 2013. My fiance Dave and I had been thinking about wedding plans, budgets, etc and after doing some research we decided it was more economical for us to have a destination wedding. We get a vacation out of it, so we don't have to pay for a separate honeymoon, and we both liked the idea of having a smaller, more intimate wedding. We will still have an AHR after we return, but not as extravagant as if we were doing the standard wedding reception here. I have already found so many helpful ideas and tips from this site and look forward to much more. I have completed our wedding website and will be sending out our STDs at the end of the week. I'm so excited!

2013 Iberostar Rose Hall Suites Brides
albellis replied to CourtandMatt's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
Hi Valerie, You can find details on the wedding package offered at the Suites at http://www.iberostar.com/EN/Montego-Bay-hotels/Iberostar-Rose-Hall-Suites/Weddings.html. There is also an email address you can use to find out if the date you are interested in is available. I booked at the Beach and used their wedding email address on their site with quick turnaround. It was about 5 days from the time I sent my initial inquiry to the time I had my date booked. All of the Iberostar resorts are in the same area. The Grand is going to be the most expensive, is adults only, offers more amenities such as butler service, and allows you to have access to the Suites and the Beach. The Suites is the middle option which allows access to the Beach. The Beach will likely be the most economical but does not allow you access to the other two resorts. All resorts have a beachfront area. Hopefully that helps
