  1. Congrats on getting the date finalized! I sent out our save the dates about 13-14 months out. I wanted to make sure the people who wanted to join us had the time to plan for the trip and start saving. I did magnets as well and it's great to see them on the fridge at relatives houses
  2. Our travel agent is using FunJet Group Travel, so she is booking a package deal for our attendees that includes hotel, airfare, and airport transfers.
  3. Thanks! I couldn't find it in any of my google searches. This is why I love this forum
  4. I am going to do something similar to this with my hair, but I'm not sure where to find the beads/crystals used in this picture. Anyone have any ideas of where to look or what I would search this as?
  5. Trisha sent me the Wedding Details form to complete, and it asks whether I want the arch or huppa. I selected huppa. It seems that they give you the choice and there are no additional charges for choosing one or the other.
  6. I chose pocketfold invitations. The paper & envelopes were ordered from paperandmore.com and the starfish charms came from an Etsy supplier. I was sooo happy to get them out the door since they took longer than I expected to make them!
  7. I chose Iberostar because I also have stayed at other Iberostar resorts and received really great service and had a wonderful time. We knew we wanted an all-inclusive resort that wasn't too expensive, and I really liked the fact that the Iberostar only has one wedding per day. Originally I was looking into resorts in Negril, however there are a lot of people coming to the wedding that haven't traveled internationally before. I didn't want to stress them out with the long drive to the airport (I think it's about 2 hours) on top of already having to get to the airport early to catch an international flight. I like that Iberostar is closer to the airport (20 mins), but not as close as others that are only a few minutes, where you might hear airplanes coming and going. PS - if you are set on April 27, 2013 as your date, I will be getting married at the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach on that day. I'm not sure if the Suites or Grand are booked yet. Maybe I'll see you down there if you end up choosing Iberostar around that day
  8. I would love to see Iberostar in Montego Bay. My wedding is at the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach on April 27, 2013, but the resort is also linked with the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites and the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall. I think they would be able to cover all three.
  9. I haven't seen anything that said the cocktail hour was for a minimum of 3 hours, I just see it listed as a per hour price on the extra services sheet. I figured one hour would be enough time to keep our guests busy while we take some photos. When I emailed the WC about the location options, she was the one that suggested we do it on the beach since it will be immediately following the ceremony, and she knew we were having dinner at 7pm. I checked our contract, which does include a private cocktail section, but I didn't see anything there about a time requirement either. As for the ceremony time, the hotel recommended a 5 or 5:30 time from March - September. That way it isn't too hot, and there is still some sunlight left to take pictures afterwards. I also found a website that will tell you sunrise & sunset times for any month in any location: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?n=120&month=4&year=2013&obj=sun&afl=-11&day=1 This link uses April 2013, but you can change the month to March to see what time the sun is expected to set for your date. Are either of you planning to do a Trash the Dress session? I'm on the fence about doing one the morning after the wedding or not.
  10. We are having our reception at Uncle Tony's. We have a smaller group, probably 20-25 people. As I previously mentioned, we are keeping things casual, so we are fine with a semi-private dinner, we won't have the typical speeches or dances, and aren't doing anything extra for music during the dinner (although I'm not sure that we could unless we rented out the restaurant). We are planning for the ceremony on the beach at 5:00pm, followed by a cocktail hour on the beach around 5:45pm, then dinner will be at Uncle Tony's at 7:00pm. Right now I am planning to have a DJ at the cocktail hour, but if we have some extra money I may upgrade that to the steel pans band. That's great that you are able to go down there ahead of time to see the location and plan from there. It just isn't in our budget to make the additional trip. But I've heard so many great things about the resort and I have had good experiences at other Iberostar Resorts, so I believe everything will work out great
  11. Thanks for starting this thread! I am getting married at the IRHB April 27, 2013. Our Save the Dates went out earlier this year, and I am working on the formal invitations which will be sent in August. My FI and I booked our trip earlier this month. I have a pretty good idea of everything that I need to do and have tried to space it out over the next several months to avoid too much stress. We are having a fairly casual wedding & reception, so I haven't had to ask the WC a lot of questions, however the couple of times I have reached out I actually got a pretty quick response (within a day or two). I know they are busy working on weddings that are taking place now, so I am just keeping a list of questions or requests, and will work with the WC to finalize next year as my date gets closer.
  12. I haven't done too much planning specifically with the resort. When I confirmed my date, I asked when they typically start to finalize the details, and they said about 3 months before the wedding. So I have been working on the details that aren't dependent on the resort over the past couple of months, and have been keeping a list of questions for the resort as that date gets nearer. I will send you a PM with some more specific details.
  13. Hi Jaclyn111 Welcome to the forum, I know you will find a ton of useful information here. I am also getting married at the Rose Hall Beach, our date is April 27, 2013. Our plan is to have a beach ceremony, followed by a cocktail hour, then a semi-private dinner reception at Uncle Tony's. The wedding coordinator said we can have the cocktail hour on the beach since it is immediately following the ceremony. As for the dinner, the information I received states there is either a semi-private option (other people in the restaurant) which is included in the package, or private (you rent out the whole restaurant) for $800. We are only expecting 20-25 people, so the semi-private is fine. There is a time limit of only having the restaurant for an hour and a half with the semi-private, but you get 3 hours for the private dinner. We are going a little more casual with the reception, so I don't expect any formal speeches or dances so I'm not sure about how they handle those. Keep me posted on what date you choose! Maybe we will be down there the same time
  14. I sent an RSVP postcard with my STD. I also included a letter which explained that we wanted a tentative RSVP to help us get an idea of how many people will be attending for planning purposes. I sent out 62 STDs in February and received about 30 RSVP cards back (asked for a response by mid-April). I will still send out an RSVP with our formal invites.
