  2. I just finished up my pre-travel packets that I will be giving our guests over the next week or so. I am sending a packet to each household. I got a lot of ideas from this site, so I wanted to share in case someone else wants to do something similar. Feel free to ask any questions or let me know if you want to to post any specific pictures of what was included I purchased beach pocket folders (from www.booksox.com), and inside I included: -Welcome/Thank You letter -Pre-Travel Brochure (created on VistaPrint) -Excursion Detail Flyer (something we will be doing, our guests can join us if they would like) -Map of the Resort (Iberostar Rose Hall Beach in Jamaica) -Packing Checklist (from www.travelsmith.com in their Travel Center area, 1 per person) -Jamaica Tourism Book (our travel agent got these for us) -Jamaica Desk Calendar (something we received with the Tourism Book, so I decided to include it) -Luggage Tags (2 per person) -Key Card/Tip Holder
  3. Here you go: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/78436/my-beach-theme-save-the-dates/10#post_1837625 Here is an image of the letter up close explaining why we included the RSVP card:
  4. I sent out a request for an RSVP with my Save the Date. I send along a letter explaining that we wanted the count for planning purposes, but that their response wasn't set in stone and we would still request their official response when we sent the formal invitation. I think I posted my save the dates & letter on here, let me see if I can find the link.
  5. I used similar wording based on what I have seen on this site and created this to stick in my key card/tip holder that I am giving to our guests.
  6. Congratulations! I would recommend taking a look at the reviews under the Resort Reviews section of this site, and also take a look at Trip Advisor. One of the brides that just got married wrote a review last week. You'll get a good idea of the wedding set-ups and overall resort info.
  7. I got my save the date magnets from Vistaprint as well. Overall they turned out great and were a great price, but there were a few in the bunch that had some white markings around the edges. I had enough extra that I didn't need to use those, but just a warning if you plan on ordering the exact quantity that you need.
  8. I used weddingwire.com. It had a template that I liked and had a music player to add that little extra touch. It's been easy to work with and has a lot of templated pages readily available.
  9. Wow, such a unique idea! I can see how that would definitely sway people that weren't planning on going or were on the fence. Now how are you going to follow that with your invitations? You've set the bar so high
  10. I asked for RSVPs back 3 months before our wedding. Most people sent them back either right away, or just as the deadline was approaching. I still haven't received about 30% of them, but I know it is people that won't be attending anyways. Still, I took the time to create and send you the invite, and included a stamped return envelope, it would be nice for you to take the 2 minutes to check a box and put the envelope in the mail. I do still have one person/family that sent the RSVP back saying they were attending (4 of them) but still haven't booked and we are about 1.5 months out from the wedding. I don't want to keep bugging her, but I'm going to need a final count pretty soon!
  11. I am sending invites to all the local women in my family and my fiance's family. Almost all of them will NOT be coming to the wedding (we are only having about 15 people that were able to make it) but that doesn't mean they want to miss out on all the other wedding related activities. I am also having an AHR about a month after we get back, and I expect that most of them will be able to attend that.
  12. My mom is hosting the shower at her place, and my MOH will be helping with the logistics. I never thought there was an issue with my mom hosting the party, and it just makes sense given the situations of the rest of our friends and family. We are only having about 10% of invited guests (maybe even less than that) attend our wedding in Jamaica, and I am asking them to not give us any gifts since they are already spending the money for the trip. Most of our other relatives are older and old fashioned, so they are expecting a shower and registry information.
  13. We are having cocktails for an hour before dinner, so we'll cover the cost of liquor, beer, wine, soda. Then when dinner starts, we will pay for the beer, soda, and coffee. If people want liquor at that point, they can buy their own. The beer cost isn't too bad since we are paying for it as a barrel, and I'm thinking a lot of people will come closer to dinner, so hopefully our alcohol costs won't be too bad.
  14. Oh, I forgot to mention that we are sending the AHR invite to all the people that we sent the DW invite to. I don't want anyone to be excluded and they are all welcome to help us celebrate back home with the rest of our family and friends. We have about 15-20 attending the DW and are expecting close to 100 for the AHR.
