Hi Ladies! I thought it might be fun to see what everyone has planned as far as themes go.. even if it's only going as far as your invites and stationary... How much are you incorporating it into your decor? Ours is going to be shark themed. It's going to be on our invites, website, STDs, monogram, cake toppers, and we'll have gummy sharks in our candy bar, plus some other bits sprinkled into our decor.

It was a bank-to-bank online banking transfer. We have a confirmation code and called our bank at the time. It seemed like everything was a go..., but the whole process was very confusing. It took us a while to figure out how to do it, and 2 calls for help to the bank. It's definitely not the first time we've ever transferred money.. in fact, living abroad and having foreign accounts, we transfer money all the time, but this one was just confusing. I'm very anxiously awaiting confirmation. I'm hoping this time there won't be the usual 2-3 week e-mail delay. -

I heard from her this morning. We sent a deposit about 2 months ago. Because we are living abroad, we had to do it all online and it was very confusing. In February, Mayte said she received a few deposits around the same time for the same amount as ours ($500) and she was sure one of them was ours, don't worry. I never heard anything else about it, so I emailed her again yesterday just to make sure.... and today I heard from her and she says her boss can't find it! Now I'm freaking out.. the money is definitely no longer in our account as of 2 months ago, so what happened to it? I asked her to check a few days after the day we made the transfer, as sometimes it can take a few days to enter a new account, but now I'm stressed. That's A LOT of money to lose if it's just floating somewhere.... -

Kristinalilly, I am in a similar situation. I have chosen to walk alone and am super happy about it! Our wedding is not going to be super traditional anyway ( I will have a man of honor instead of a maid of honor, etc), so if anybody asks, I will just say we decided to stray from tradition for many things. -

WOW, is that $4000 for the honeymoon suite for 7 days? How much was a regular room? -

I'm wondering what you ladies mean when you say "local bar option." Do you mean going off-Jellyfish premises or something else? -

I just booked Corres films for my wedding. So excited. I have looked at all the options for months, and I have to say that Corres films looks the most consistently professional (no shaky digi-cam type shots for the whole thing!) I love their samples and I feel completely confident that they will do a great job. The 3-4 minute trailer comes free with their top package (gold), but can be added on to any other package. To me, this is the most important part so I will for sure be getting this. So easily shareable and I can recreate the emotion of the day in under 5 minutes. Awesome! I would definitely check them out! -

Hello OB brides! I am looking into OB&S because I hear it's an affordable option... that's certainly what we are interested in.. an AFFORDABLE all-inclusive! To those of you who have already booked, do you mind PMing me with the rates you were offered for your group and for your honeymoon suite? Thank you so much! My wedding is just over a year away, so rates haven't been released yet, and I'm still in the dark about pricing. -
Like everyone else... I agree that I would feel outraged if I had to pay for my food/drinks.. ESPECIALLY at a destination wedding! People are going to spend in the thousands just to attend, and taking vacation time on top of that... they're spending hundreds or thousands of dollars and you can't pay $100 as a thank you? That's what I would be thinking if I was a guest! Even though we are on a super tight budget, we're planning on renting some multi-bedroom vacation homes in the DR to help out our other cash strapped friends. You have to remember that a destination wedding isn't exactly cheap or convenient for your guests. As far as the relatives... either don't invite them (are your parents helping you to pay for the wedding? if not, it's not their decision!), or invite them and chances are that if you literally haven't spoken to them in decades, they won't make the effort/spend the money to fly halfway across the world to your wedding! Good luck!

Hello ladies! Would love some feedback on the STD that I just designed. We're having a shark-themed wedding, so I wanted to incorporate some shark love without making it look like a birthday party invite for a 6 year old little boy! Because we're on a tight budget, I hit the drawing board (literally!) and came up with this after a couple weeks of trial & error and some botched designs. I'm only self-taught in photoshop and Inkscape (a FREE version of Illustrator you can download online!), so I'm not proficient but can still make changes. I'm pretty nit picky so I'm wondering if you could give me some feedback.. is there anything I should change/add/remove? Once finished, I will be sending these out via Postcards.com. They will even mail them out to each guest after printing, and it only costs $60 TOTAL for 100 STDs!!
