for those of you who had a make up artist/hairdresser come in to the resort, how did you do it? Did you pay for the guest pass or did the make up artist pay the 30% fee? I'm using Norma Perez and she said she's never had to pay anything to the resort before.... -
Hey ladies! Great thread, it's been super helpful already!! Any suggestions on wording for attire for the at home reception?? I want it to be beachy and casual, but not too casual where people come in jeans or anything haha if that makes sense.

Did anyone use the resort spa for hair/makeup?? I cannot find pricing for it any where and the information sheet claudia keeps sending me doesnt seem to have it.

Does anyone have a link to the layout they used for the "to have and to hold...your room key" for vistaprint or anywhere else?? I'm soooo not creative and am having problems figuring out the set up. -
I used a travel agent as well, and she's been a HUGE help!! I ended up going with Wendy Hicks of wright travel agency, the agency that's recommended on this site, as i figured they would have the most experience with dealing with destination weddings and planning!! I would highly recommend her, and she will then guide you in each step of the planning, including contacting resorts for pricing. I would have been lost without her!

Thanks for the maraca tips ladies, i'm also planning on that so it's great to know I can just pick them up there and not worry about more stuff to bring with us!!! So helpful! Has anyone had their hair and make up done by the spa at the resort?? I know i've heard a lot of good things about adrian and his staff but he seems a little pricey so I wanted to try and compare with the stylists they have on hand. Any suggestions would be great

Bluejena I'm also interested in your music list as we are planning on doing the same thing, ipod with someone kind of in charge of announcing dances/etc...also, if anyone is going with an outside photographer would you mind PMing me with the pricing vs the resort photographers. Having a hard time deciding! Sarah when is your wedding date??? Ours is also just under 4 months away now! Sooo exciting!!!

They have some of those same items, the same soup and salad is available...what did you think of your choices?? They offer beef tenderloin but it doesn't say that it comes with lobster tail any more and no longer offering tiramasu. i'll try to post the menu she sent me today!

Has anyone ordered off the new menu recently?? Trying to decide on our menu and would LOVE some suggestions from anyone who's recently ordered for their menu or tried the food! It's tough without having any pictures of the food or knowing what they all taste like. Thanks!!

Hey ladies! I'm new to the site and just in the beginning stages of planning our wedding at the Barcelo Maya Palace for May 2012! I'm obviously going to have to learn quickly since it's coming up in 4 months already!! Any suggestions would be super helpful Who did everyone use for a photographer?? We are doing a budget wedding and I know it's pricey to have someone come in for the day. Did anyone use a photographer provided through the hotel?? Is that even an option?

Hi, i'm Holly, my fiance David and I got engaged several weeks ago and are planning a destination wedding in May of 2012. We're looking at several resorts - Barcelo maya palace, moon palace, secrets maroma, and dreams. I have no idea how any of this planning works! We've been trying to book a resort, any suggestions?? Also struggling to decide if upgrading to a pricier wedding package with the resorts is worth. I would love love love any suggestions Happy Planning!!!
