  1. So glad to hear all that! We chose the resort based on a travel agent recommendation, but a blind choice still made me a little nervous...
  2. Thanks for the advice! I will check them out. I plan to order whatever I decide on next month so I have a couple of weeks to really do my research and make the best decision. So glad to have these forums and all the good info and reviews! Invitations are finally DONE so now I can really focus on the dress search for me and my girls...
  3. Hey thanks! I spent some time looking through the seller's other things on ebay a few days ago. I also asked the seller if they had any more pics, either close up to the top or of the back but they said no. The good thing was they wrote back in less than a day, and they do have a return policy where you can get a refund, minus shipping. Tough decision, inweddingdress.com or ebay! The hardest part is all the pressure (especially from the FMIL) to go to stores or boutiques and try things on. I don't like a big fuss over me and all that attention. I'm not looking for a "say yes to the dress" situation. I already know which one I want! 4. How about something like "resort casual" like the resort restaurants put as their dress code?
  5. Her ears must have been ringing today! Finally, an email! I get to the breaking point, vent my worries on here, and wouldn't you know that's when I hear from her... lol I suppose I need to start being patient 1 day longer! So info from Mayte about legal ceremonies: 1 - She is fine with coming in 2-3 days before. It's not for the country, they don't require it. It's just for her so you can make your final selections with her and go over planning. She says it's your vacation, she can work with what time you have. 2 - It's not a fun process to do the legal ceremony but she makes it work for you. Mine's on a Sunday so it's really not easy for her but after some hard work she was able to book a judge for my date (we didn't prefer a Sunday, that's just what was available so we took it). 3 - The judge will not finalize a time for the ceremony until approx 1 month prior to the date - so I'll just leave it off the invites. That's plenty to hold me over for now. Let's hope it's enough for the FI! ;-)
  6. That's the one! Amazing! I think I might have to take a chance on that for the price... Only thing that concerns me is the quality of the beading. I wonder what it looks like up close. Maybe I'll ask the seller for more pictures. It also mentions lace up back, which the original doesn't have but I'm not opposed to... Great find though! Thanks!
  7. Thank you for checking! I was pretty sure I had seen it somewhere but when I went to look again for specific details I couldn't find it for some reason. So thankful to have a community of people going thru the same thing to help out...
  8. The travel agent is supposed to be checking into it as well, but we just want to be extra sure before we make our flight reservations! I did email her a second time with the subject "IMPORTANT - MAYTE", still no word. I am trying to be patient, but my FI really wants to book ASAP and every day he asks me and every day, no I haven't heard yet... it's now been about 2 weeks or so since first email and a week since 2nd request. Trying not to stress because I know when she gets to it she will tell me, but time is running closer, I'm trying to get the invitations together. We are having a pre-travel meeting for our guests with the travel agent on the 18th so they can make their deposits and book, and they all want to know why we haven't yet and what days we will be there. There is kind of a lot riding on her response... Quote: I believe (please double check with your TA or someone!!) that the DR is one of the few countries that does not require a "residency" prior to getting married...be patient with Mayte...she's the probably the busiest person on the planet, but once you have her attention, you will have it all...try emailing her again (I notice you are set for 4 months from now...try putting URGENT in the subject line...before anything else)...good luck!!
  9. I'm in the process of DIYing my invites (will be doing a planning thread when they're finished and I have the time, just not sure if it will be a wedding planning thread or DIY Invite thread yet, but stay tuned if you're interested...) Anyway, I'm very excited about my RSVP wording and wanted to share and get some input: ____ Toes in the sand! Save me/us ____ (#) beach chairs! ____ Head in the clouds, hoping to be there! ____ Feet on the ground, toasting from home! I had seen bits and pieces of this searching the forums but tweaked it to my liking... I will say I probably would not have even attempted my own invitations without inspiration from these boards.
  10. Yes, but with the wedding on a Sunday is it 72 hrs on business days or just 72 hours? That's what we aren't sure of.
  11. Thanks for all the info! I think my fiance would like to try to take care of the documents on our own, but this seems like a much more streamlined (and less confusing!) process. I sent an email for pricing, so we'll see... June is coming so quickly!
  12. Is anyone having (or those of you who've had) a legal ceremony at the Jellyfish, Do you know if we have to be there 3 business days ahead of the ceremony? We are trying to book our resort and figure out what days to go but I've been waiting for mayte's response over a week now! I also asked her if she knew what time the ceremony will be so I can do my invitations but haven't heard back...
  13. You should check out the Jellyfish Restaurant thread. It has all the info you could want and then some. Last I checked transportation for Jellyfish is $5 per person, and I believe Dreams is not very close. I'm staying at Dreams Palm Beach which I'm told is about a 15 minute ride.
  14. Thank you mrs squash! Kinda wish it wasn't discontinued but so happy to know what it is! I don't think it will change my decision to order it. It's so pretty!
  15. I think this is the one! Just 2 questions though: 1 - Buying the knockoff but does anybody recognize who the original designer might be?? 2 - Train or no train? It's not too long but I'm worried about it getting dirty in the sand and such....
  16. Show us your wedding dress!
  17. Has anyone seen this dress? I'd love to be able to try it on before ordering, but I don't know who designed the original!
  18. Post all "Knock Off Wedding Dress" questions/comments here
  19. I really hope it goes back down for June! Some of my group went ahead and booked because they are afraid the flights they want are filling up to quickly, but I just can't stomach the nearly $800 per ticket they are paying! The travel agent says they more than likely will go back down, but hopefully not before the flights are all full!
