  1. I asked this question in the Bridemaid Dress thread but didn't get a response, so I'll give it one more shot with this thread. I have picked out Bill Levkoff bridesmaid dresses for my sisters and am ready to order them (actually at this point it's a rush delivery order so I need to do it ASAP!), but I can get them online for about $50 cheaper than what they'd be in any bridal store in my area. I'm thinking about ordering them from www.victoriasbridalcouture.com but without walking into a store and talking to someone in person, I'm a little hesitant. I know they have a store in Florida but I have read they don't have the same customer service as the website. There aren't many review to go on and I haven't seen anything here. Have any of you ordered non-knockoff dresses online. or even from Victoria's Bridal Couture? Thanks
  2. Love the asscher! That's my favorite cut! He picked out round though. What kind of band are you going to put with it? My ring has the same setting including the small rounds on the profile view, but mine's got 2 round side stones as well. Hard to choose something to sit up next to the E-ring nicely. I ended up going with something kind of criss-crossed. I slid it on and it landed nice and snug next to it and I was sold... (sorry for the not so great cell phone pics)
  3. I was looking for chiffon but ended up with organza. I tried on one that was satin but it still felt kind of heavy to me, but my wedding is in June so I will be sweating enough as it is!
  4. Definitely try them on, and while youre at it try on a few different styles too. I had in mind something beachy and flowy and simple and ended up with the big wow-factor dress! You never know what youre going to like until you see them on!
  5. I recently was in your same position. It took a really long time (over a month) to get my quote back from Mayte and be able to send the deposit. She assured me in at least 3 prior emails that the date was mine and no one else's. It still made me extremely nervous that I hadn't sent her a deposit and I ran out of time and had to get my invitations out. In reading through this thread, it seemed like not all past brides even sent a deposit at all and everything went just fine. I think you just have to trust that if she said the date is yours that it is, then be patient and let everything else fall into place over time...
  6. Have any of you ordered bridesmaid dresses online? I can get a better price at a couple of online websites than I can get in local stores but I just hesitate to do so, not knowing if they're really legit or not... I'm just having my 2 sisters for bridesmaids and they are wearing 2 different Bill Levkoff chiffon styles in the same color (156 and 561 in capri). There's a bunch of sites offering as much as $50 less than in stores. All the stores around here have the same price but just different on the rush delivery charge. So if any of you have ordered BM dresses online please let me know what site and if you recommend it? Thanks!!
  7. It's definitely tough choosing a resort when you haven't even been to Punta Cana. That was difficult for us, for sure. We found Punta Cana originally because we loved the look of the rooms and the amenities of the Hard Rock, but then looking more into it, we felt it didn't give us the "Carribean" resort feel we wanted. I loved the pictures of the Majestic resorts but then we found the Jellyfish and decided to go with something a little closer to it. The Melia being right next door and a good price range was enticing, but then we started working with a travel agent who has stayed with Dreams resorts and Dreams Palm Beach ended up being the right fit for what we wanted. As far as cancellation policy concerns, through our travel agent she offered us a good travel insurance plan so we went with that. Well worth it, although hopefully we won't need it! I definitely recommend using a good travel agent when it comes to doing the group thing. Dreams resorts also give credits for every 5 rooms booked, so that helps too!
  8. Check out the Jellyfish restaurant thread. It has tons of info and may answer a lot of your questions just from reading through. Chances are someone else has already discussed whatever you may want to know. You can also email the Jellyfish with any questions. If you even think you might want to have your reception there, email Mayte right away to check availability. They only do 1 a day so when a date is booked, that's it. It may take a week or 2 before you hear back so be patient. There are some new prices, but she hasn't put out a new list yet. The old brochure is pretty close and at least will give a ballpark idea. 9. Thanks for the review! I can't wait to see your review of the Jellyfish! We are staying at Dreams Palm Beach but having the wedding and reception at the Jellyfish.
  10. I really like this Jessica Alba one, might have to steal it! I'd say do a trial of both styles and decide which you like best! I was thinking something like this for me - I have medium length, curly hair: Not sure if I want a flower or veil, maybe both?
  11. Thanks! That sounds reasonable. I totally forgot to ask about that!
  12. Someone in my wedding party brought up an interesting question that I hadn't thought of or seen talk of here. Does the JF charge full price for kids? There are going to be approx 6 children coming to mine. Anybody know? Did any of you who already had the wedding have any kids there?
  13. That looks very similar to the dress I got at David's (for 1/3 of the price of the J Crew one in your pic)! If you like the style but aren't totally sold on it or the price is not what you want, then go to other stores and keep trying on. Like you, I was looking for something flowy and chiffon, but I saw a pic of this one and decided to try it on. I knew I really liked it that day, but it wasn't until I got home that night and realized I couldn't stop thinking about this one. I think it is true, when you know, you know. David's should be able to accomodate your timeframe as well, if there's one near you...
  14. Some dress advice please...
  15. The time for ordering depends on the dress, if they normally stock it or not and can even vary by color choice (white, soft white or ivory). The one I got I was lucky enough they had my size and color in stock and I bought off the rack. If I had wanted the other color it would have taken 14-15 weeks as a rush order. I'd say if you know what you want and you need to order it, give them minimum 4-6 months and you can always do the alterations if you lose more weight. =)
  16. I think if you tried on a similar dress and you know it was a good style for you then go for it! I ended up with the opposite situation, tried on a couple similar dresses and they just did not wow me, so I tried on other styles I thought were pretty although not what I thought I wanted, and I found something great off the rack... Anyway, if you know its the one, then just go with your gut instinct...
  17. There are a few of us brides active on the Jellyfish thread who are staying at DPB but having either the whole thing or just the reception at the Jellyfish. Not sure if that helps...
  18. So... I posted a couple weeks ago I had decided to order this (which turned out to be a discontinued Maggie Sottero- Cassia): Then someone convinced me to go to try on some similar styles and make sure I liked it. And I did like it, but just didn't give me that "this is it!" feeling. So I figured while I'm there, let me try some different styles to see if there's anything I might like, and me, who swore I didn't want anything strapless, or anything "foofy", fell in LOVE with this: Like seriously, was dreaming about it all that night! And they had it, off the rack, in my size and in ivory, which matches his linen suit PERFECTLY! You can't help but think it was meant to be =) The plan is to take in the top ever so slightly, shorten the length a bit (for sandals/barefoot in the sand), and shorten or just totally remove the train (it's partially tucked under in the photo).
  19. That's exactly how I feel! Still waiting on my quote btw... I sent it as a PDF attachment with pics of everything, thinking it was the easiest way to do it and would guarantee no problems with viewing the pics, only for her to say on her personal computer she couldn't open it, but would try on the restaurant's computer... Not sure how long that will take. I did finally finish the invites and get them out. I had to put a March 1 RSVP date though because the TA wants resort payment in full by the end of March... I can't tell you how many people are stressed about that! It's been a challenge to not stress myself, and even more so to try calm down the FI who is UBER stressing right now! I'm hoping by the end of March things start to sail more smoothly...
  20. I tried that one on this past weekend! I think it looks great on you. In your size I think it would definitely even out up top. I ended up getting something similar and I was so lucky they had my size and color in stock! I'll post it as soon as I get the pic off my phone...
