I received the following information from Wilma and would like to share with you: Due to new projects that Playacar is having, the North Solarium is under construction (for new suites), I think they will finish in 2 months and at that time I will know if we can still use this venue for private events or we will have another option, as soon as I know about this, I will let you know. My wedding will be in December so I should have plenty of time to change my reception to other location even though I prefer to have it at North Solarium.

Floral Vendor: Maybe I'll ask Laura to drop off the stuff at the hotel and I'll ask my friends to pick them up for the reception decoration. New Tax: The 11% tax is only on the resort credits and you need to pay in cash or credit card for the tax at the end of your stay after using the credits. I think I will reserve for spa and dolphin swim this week for December 2012 to save on tax. Mariachi Band: I got the rate from Carlos Lopez Horta ([email protected]) and they charge 9000 pesos (USD 710) for 10 musicians (45min) or 6300 pesos (USD 498) for 7 musicians (45min). They know the hotel and work there so we don't need to pay day pass. The hotel charges USD 1100 for 8 musicians (60min)!!!   6. To RMBride2B:My fiance is a local dj and I was told you can't plug the wireless mic to the bose speaker... something to do with input and output. But anyway, I just realized I need to pay for 2 people's pass for the outside vendors as he's bringing an assistant. Even with the discount of $130 just for the ceremony, it'll end up $312! In that case, I'll have to rethink if I should just have the hotel's sound system for $300. Are you getting the mariachi band from the hotel? Here's what I got from Wilma regarding the drape: Q: What is the measurement of the huppa? I may also try to get the fabric myself if it's cheaper to do so. Do you also rent out the other huppas from other Colin Collections? I'm trying to check which option is the most cost effective. A: The price to rent the (old) structure is 400usd and the price to rent the fabric is 80usd, in case you bring your fabric we will be in charge to set up this on the huppah and we just need to consider an extra charge of 100usd as decoration set up fee. What I can figure out is that we can fit the white fabric in the new complementary structure of Colin Cowie, we are waiting for all of this stuff so as soon as I get it, I can see and I can let you know if you need the other huppah or with the one you have now is enough. What do you think? In other words, she will confirm with me if I can just rent the white drape from the old package at USD 80 and keep the new huppa structure. To Maii: Outside florist contact is Laura and her email is [email protected]. I like the fact that she will give you ideas and be able to work around your budget. She has no minimum, which is great! She can replicate the bouquet as shown below (in different color) for USD 65 and the reception centerpieces in baby's breath (10 of them in different sizes) for USD 356.
  7. Hi RMBride2B, I had asked Wilma the same question about the sound system. Q: Are we required to have a microphone for the ceremony? If we do the ceremony without the microphone, could the 20 guests be able to hear us? A: Unfortunately, if you don’t rent the sound system, the only people who will be able to listen to the minister will be you, so I do recommend you to rent the sound system for your ceremony which is 300usd including the speaker, microphone, the mixer to connect your iPod or CDs and the operator who will be in charge to play your music during the ceremony, in this way everybody will be able to listen and also enjoy the music you would like to have for the special moments as the arrival of guests, your entrance, during the ceremony and the recessional. You can think about it and let me know later. I got an outside vendor referral from a former Playacar Palace bride. His name is Julian Molina from Mood Events Services and here is the price list: For the ceremony you will need: 1 Speaker 1 Wireless Microphone 1 Technician Prelude, processional and recessional music Price: 150 dlls. The price I am giving you is in United States American Money, dollars, it is a flat rate, tax included and no hidden fees or extra charges. Transportation, setup for both events are included. As for the ceremony setup, I'm planning to go with the basic complimentary package and rent the brown tiffany chairs from the hotel (USD 10 each, without transportation fee). I'm still waiting to hear back from Wilma if she can get draping for the huppa. Apparently the old huppa and drape are too old to be reused... Zuniga is pretty expensive for me even though their tiffany chairs are only $7 each, they charge USD 250 on top for transportation and loading fee. So unless you are renting lots from her, then I rather rent from the hotel since I'm paying for "$65 decoration setup fee" anyway.

Now that my fiance and I have decided on Playacar Palace (thanks Lola2012 for her advice), I would like to start contributing my share in this forum and post the email I received from Wilma for future brides' reference: 1) What is the setup like for private reception? Are there any lights or lanterns? If I bring my own paper lanterns, could you please set them up for free? If you bring paper lanterns; of course we can assist you with this, we just need to consider an extra fee of 65usd as “decoration set up fee†2) I would like to personalize the complimentary wedding package. How much are the Chiavari chairs, white pergola structure and the pergola Shepherd's hooks placed down the aisle from the Nautical Collection if I were to rent them? Unfortunately, the decoration from the collections is exclusive for each package; if you are not interested in purchasing the package; what we can do is that I can give you the contact of a person from Decorations who can assist us with this; her name is Vania, she works at “Zúñiga Decorations†and she is the one who can assist you giving you some ideas similar to the ones you are requesting and prices, her email is [email protected] 3) Is there a more secluded beach ceremony where there won't be many people walking by the ceremony? At 4:00pm is the latest time we attend ceremonies; sometimes we try to move the people for 30 minutes that the ceremony takes; however, as you may know this is a public area, so I think you will have some people walking but not many. 4) Does del Sol consider as outside photographer? Do you have the approved vendor list? In case you are interested in pictures and video services, I recommend you to get in contact with Janeth from Smile Market, the company which works for us at: [email protected] ; “Del Sol†and “La Luna†photographers are the outside photographers who can take pictures at the Resort with a day pass which is 91usd per person per day; these are the only ones who are allowed to come to the Resort as an outside photographer. 5) Could you send me pictures of the flowers included in the complimentary package? The flowers that are included are roses; I’m still waiting for a response to know which other kind of flowers does this package include; as soon as I know, I’ll let you know. I'm still waiting to hear back from Miami office regarding the wedding date and contract. Will keep you posted regarding the communications between the wedding coordinator.
