Hi everyone,
To answer some of your questions: We didn't have a private reception because we only had 37 people. We just had the semi private dinner at Uncle Tony's. It was more like fully private because no one else was in there the entire time.
We used the resort's DJ and he was just meh. He's fine if you just give him your ipod and have your playlist ready. But if you don't, he doesn't have many songs available. I was told he would be able to download any song he didn't have so I didn't bother bringing my ipod. But after I talked to him, that wasn't the case. So, after about a half hour, my husband ran back to the room for the ipod. He didn't make any announcements or say anything at all. If I had to do it all over, I would either bring my entire playlist and ipod or use someone else.
The only outside vendors we used were Roan Robinson for our photographer and Rashel Edwards for makeup. Roan was great! He did arrive a little late but that wasn't his fault. The hotel was giving him problems with the whole vendor fee thing. But other than that, he was awesome! Rashel was amazzzzzing!!! I highly recommend her!!! She did my makeup and all 3 of my bridesmaid's makeup. She was super sweet and did a great job. The makeup lasted the entire day!
As for the timeline, the wedding was at 4:30, but didn't arrive there until about 5 since the photographer was late. The ceremony lasted about 20 minutes. After that was the champagne toast and picture time. At 5:30, all of the guests headed up to the Bob Marley Terrace for the cocktail hour. Dinner was from 7-8:30. The cake cutting was right after dinner at the Steakhouse. Then we went back to the Bob Marley Terrace for dancing from 8:30 until 10:30. And then some of us went to the disco. The whole day went sooo fast! It was everything I imagined though aside from the crappy DJ.
Hope I answered some of your questions

Hi everyone,
We just got back yesterday from our wedding/honeymoon at the Beach. It was amazing!!! The WC, Santena, was great! We met with her the night before and made most of the decisions then....it was no problem! They really are very organized and know what they're doing, so there's no need to worry if they don't get back to you right away. Everything was perfect....except for the DJ....
Let me know if anyone has any questions!

I was just wondering if anyone had their reception on the Bob Marley Terrace at Iberostar Beach? I haven't seen any pics of receptions there, just weddings. The WC said I could decorate with lights and paper lanterns, so I wanted to see if anyone did this?

I got your PM and sent you one back.....let me know if you get it

So you are having a private dinner but not reception ?Or do you mean semi-private dinner ?
Well, we do have to pay $400 for the dinner, but she didn't say anything about paying for the terrace. The way the WC explained it to me was we will have the restaurant for 1 1/2 hours and then they open it to the public. So, I guess that's where the $400 comes into play. I'm not sure how long we're able to use the terrace for or how long we'll be able to have the DJ there. I'm guessing it's only until 10:30 or 11 though.

I haven't been given my wedding time either as yet, I have asked the WC though. I've sent off my Final Details Sheet so I hope we can find out pretty soon at least so we can have an idea of what to expect. I've also heard that 4:30 or 5 is the norm, so if we don't hear before we go I guess we can take this as a pretty good indication. There's only the two of us going out there so we've no need for a private dinner or reception, a nice cosy meal will do us nicely We were planning on going to the Cajun Restaurant but we also have a choice of the Suites restaurants so I'm still a little undecided. Are you having a private dinner / reception? Which restaurant have you chosen? I can't wait now, not long to go!
I'm sure the photographer will be great! We were there last year and had the photographer from the resort take some pics of us and they turned out amazing! So, don't worry about your choice We just sent our final details in too. Oh, that's so nice! We ate at the Cajun restaurant last year and it was soooo good....but all of the food at the resort is great! Are you staying at the Suites too? We were planning on having a private dinner and reception but we don't have enough people So, we're just going to have a private dinner for 1 1/2 hours and then move to the terrace and have a DJ up there. I know!!! I can't believe it's a month away. I remember when it was 300 days away....I have a countdown on my phone

Have you been given your wedding time for the day yet? I'll be sure to look out for you
Yes, his work looks awesome and he's gotten great reviews! Did you try to email him about availability? He's usually pretty fast with his responses. I haven't been given my wedding time yet, but just from reading through this thread, it looks like it's either 4:30 or 5? Are you doing a private dinner and reception? I'll def look out for you too

I just talked to the WC at the Beach and she said I can't have a private reception because we only have 35 people and we need a minimum of 40 people. I thought we only needed 30 people? But anyway, if we can't have a private reception, we're going to have the dinner at Uncle Tony's and then we wanted to either rent the terrace or have a bonfire, did anyone else do this? And are you allowed to have a DJ?

Our ceremony is Dec 3 at the Suites, and the majority of our guests are booked there, so I'm sure we'll run into each other somewhere!
I also wanted to pass along info on our photographer as he offers reasonable rates including smaller packages and hourly rates. His name is Merrick Cousley http://www.merrickcousley.com/ (I already checked his online calendar and he appears to be free Dec 1 :-)) If you send me your email address I can send you the details.
I'm with you on being concerned and stressed about the WCs. I thought once you were 6 weeks out that they'd be much more responsive!? I've managed to complete 95% of my planning without contacting Nicole thanks to the great ladies and wealth of info here on this site, but now I need to hear from her, and nothing! And don't even get me started on the florist (Tai Flora, that is).
Someone please reassure us that someone will start paying attention...and soon?!
Hi Rebecca,
We're using Roan Robinson for our pictures. He's been great to work with so far and is verrrrry reasonable! Also, We're getting married the day before you at the Beach! I still have so much to do!
-
OMG, I just had to share this with you guys! I emailed the WC at the Beach and got a response within 2 hours!!! I couldn't believe it!
-
It's so frustrating dealing with the WC's there! They take forever to respond and then when they do, it's usually one word answers. No, the bride & groom don't have to stay at the same hotel. We're either staying at the Suites or the Grand....hoping for the Grand though! The only thing I'm not sure about is before the wedding and where to get ready? I have a makeup artist coming and I don't know if I tell her to come to the Suites? Should I book a room at the Beach for the day to get ready? Or maybe they would be nice and just let me use a room for a couple of hours...haha.
-
I had this same issue....we're getting married at the Beach, but most of the guests are staying at the Suites. I was freaking out because I read the same thing in the contract. So, I emailed the WC and she assured me that as long as the guests are staying on Iberostar property, they would be considered a guest of the hotel. Hope that makes you feel better

I was actually thinking about doing separate bags for the single guys. I guess I could put a bottle opener and a koozie in them. I don't know what else though! I did find these binocular and cell phone flasks haha.
-
We have some single guys coming to the wedding and I was trying to think of things to put in their bags. I'm pretty sure they won't be interested in the bath and body works hand sanitizer and nail files that I'm including in the others haha. Any ideas?
-
I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I can't find it....how are the tables set up in Uncle Tony's? We have about 50 people coming so far and I'm just trying to figure out how many centerpieces we'll need and how the guests will be seated?
-
I'm working with Silvia at the Beach and it seems like she's just as slow. It took her about a week to get back to me after my initial email. I kept checking my email every hour just to see if she wrote back, I was just so excited! But, they definitely run on Island time haha. I wouldn't worry about it though....it seems like the norm.
-
Hi CourtandMatt! I was thinking of dividing them up between my family so it wouldn't be too heavy. I was going to do that with all of the things in my OOT bags. Of course, I don't know what I'm putting in them yet haha.
-
Hi girls,
I just wanted to let everyone know that I emailed the Jamaica tourist board about getting some brochures for my OOT bags. Well, yesterday, I came home to find a heavy box full of those nice full size Jamaica books! I was so surprised they actually sent them and for free!!!
-
Oh okay, I wonder if it's worth it to get an outside DJ or just stick with the one resort DJ? I haven't really seen many reviews of the resort DJ. You'll have to report back when you go!
I'm so jealous! We went last May and loved it! I had never been out of the country or to an all inclusive resort, so I was amazed when I saw all of the marble. It's beautiful!
I've heard good things about Sun Gold!
We'll have around 50 too. I was getting the same thing from my family! Of course I was so excited that I started working on our STD's right when we got engaged, but I didn't think I'd have to rush and get them out that quick. They were all about booking their trips right away! It really surprised me because we thought maybe we'd have 25 people there. I really wanted to have a private reception and I never thought we'd have enough people to have one....boy was I wrong haha.
-
Oh, I thought that only applied to weddings at the Grand? I'll have to ask the WC about outside vendors. Oh, that's awesome! Have you ever been there before?
We have an outside photographer too......ours is Merrick Cousley. Who are you using?
Our date is November 30, when is yours? How many people do you have coming?
-
Yes, we're having a private reception. From the pics I've looked at, it seems like there's room for a dance floor. I haven't read anything about having to rent one. I saw some pics of Uncle Tony's under the resort reviews section. Are you using the hotel's dj or getting your own?
-
Congrats Felicia! We're getting married at Iberostar Rose Hall Beach too on November 30. I originally asked about your date because we got engaged on 11/11/11. I can't believe how much you have done already! I really need to get a move on it haha. I'm in love with your flowers!!! I can't believe they're made out of clay! I've been debating whether or not to go with real flowers or not. So many decisions!
-
I actually just talked to the WC and she said it wouldn't be a problem if my guests stayed at the Suites. Here I am freaking out over this and she acted like it was no big deal. No problem haha. But luckily, all of our guests are staying at one of the Iberostar properties, so the $75 fee doesn't apply, just the $18 fee if we go above the 10 guests included in the package. It definitely adds up though since we're looking at 50 people now! I really can't believe almost everyone we invited are coming. We have so much to do, but I can't wait for November to get here!
