  1. Her response addressed a few things, but didn't answer quite a bit, so we have to go back to her:
  2. I saw this from another poster, months ago- worth a shot? I might email her as well to see if she's still doing it. I think the Alex person this bride is referring to was a phoographer or something... "Alex also recommended a friend of her's who is also a florist to do our flowers, Juliana. The prices for flowers at the resort is outrageous, so I began emailing Juliana some pics of what I wanted & she said she could do it. Juliana is based out of Cancun but will travel to surrounding areas (Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos) to do your wedding. When I arrived at NOW Jade, Juliana came to meet us - she brought samples of the flowers she had in the colors I wanted (coral, white and green). She was very professional and did a beautiful job on the flowers for a very low price. 10 boutenierres, 3 wrist corsages, 4 bridesmaid bouquets, 1 bridal bouquet and 2 centerpieces and the rental of 9 vases and a basket for only $200 USD!! NOW Jade wanted $65 for one bridesmaid bouquet?! In the end we saved close to $800 using Juliana and the flowers were so beautiful, my bridesmaids are still talking about them!! NOW Jade's florist did not like that we ventured out to get our own florist, but there is no clause saying you can't. Also, when I told Pilar the price she said "I don't blame you". Perhaps now, NOW Jade will re-evaluate their prices for flowers. Highly recommend Juliana: [email protected]"
  3. I am thinking about that too, just worried about them getting ruined in the luggage!
  4. whoops, looks like we can't download attachments on here? if you want to see it, inbox me your email and I will share
  5. Have you completed the "Wedding Planning Form" yet? It was like an 8-10 pg document, where you detail everything on it. I'll attach mine here, so you can see what I mean...after I sent it to Pilar, she replied with the answers to the questions I asked, and then attached the invoice as a pdf. We received this planning form from our wedding planner at Blue Petal, not from Pilar. NOW WEDDING PLANNING FORM.doc
  6. same with us! Our $2999 wedding pkg jumped to $5351.88! We need to do some serious re-evaluating of some things. But a few things for us are non-negotiable. For example, we wanto to extend our reception by one hour, as we think 3hrs is just too short- $15pp, so that's an addit'l $570.00. $868.00 for the extra 15 ppl we have for the dinner. and on and on.....sigh. can't complain, still cheaper than doing it at home!
  7. Ok, thanks! It was a shock to get the invoice with all the add-ons We have 40 people coming, can I ask you- did you spend the extra cost to increase the wedding cake and cocktail hour appetizers? I know the divine pkg includes up to 25 ppl only, I just wonder if it's worthwhile to increase those things- especially the cake, when everyone gets dessert already! Thanks! Kristen
  8. I checked this with Pilar- the 2 flower "medallions" are included w the Divine pkg, along with the white draping...I emailed her back to confirm what is meant by "Medallions" and she said to look at the pics she sent me, which look a lot like the one posted above...so we'll see....!
  9. Hi Ladies, We just got our invoice from Pilar- eek! Did you know they charge $150.00 just to have a podium at the reception? $150.00! Photographer Day pass $65.00 per photographer, so since we are using Photos in Cancun, we have to pay $130.00 for them to come I expected that though. Also- for those doing a sand ceremony- Pilar will provide it at the resort for $60.00. To set up the chair bows, $1 per bow.
  10. Pilar advsied us 2 choices, plus 1 veg option, plus 2 options for children's if that helps.... Also- to the pther poster- Pilar said the menu must be set inadvance, not last-minute, day of event changes....
  11. We just received an email from Pilar- $350.00 surcharge to use outside flowers I think I might use my bouquet in the Divine pkg and get my girls to carry parasols?
  12. Hey Lauren, Congrats! We're also getting married there, May 25, 2013 and we are SO excited! This site is great- check out the Official NOW Jade thread, pour a glass of wine and start reading, there are HUNDREDS of awesome tips/tricks/ideas to read....I think I've read so much, I forget half of it! What have you chosen for your locations?
  13. Actually- I just checked out their website, they don't look that bad! But you only get 25 printed images and I think only 100 on disc, maybe?
  14. We had the same issue, in fact, not one member of my extended family are coming, just my parents and my sisters. We have 40 guests in total, and most are friends. But it is YOUR day, and we spent weeks agonizing about our decision, the guilt is just ridiculous sometimes, but you are getting married for YOU and whoever wants to be there, will be there. We're running into issues now with our extended families and some other invitees yapping on about how they are going to play travel agent and find a better deal, last-minute. Oh no they're not! We have to be more forceful and lay the smack down- I saw someone post a 3mth deadline for final RSVPs and I think that's perfect. If you don't know 3mths in advance, then it likely isn't going to happen! Our relatives don't like the perceived control- I'm not going to be told where to vacation, and when to go, and how much to pay". Ok then, make your choice! Your day will be beautiful, and those important to you, will be there!!!!!
  15. Your pictures are beautiful! This is probably a silly question, but do we need to bring our own paper lanterns for the Bamboo Room, or do they supply those?
  16. Hi There, From what I have read, Adventure Photos is just...ok. Here's their link: http://www.adventurephotosmx.com/index.html#/adp-contact-us/ We personally have hired Photos in Cancun (can't wait!) to cover us for 5 hours, including getting ready pics, ceremony, wedding party/family shots, and some dinner hopefully (speeches etc, first dance) and are using the resort photog for reception/more casual pics- I have also read that you can use them for the night before if you want, or for a TTD session the next day....I think the old "You get what you pay for" might apply, so we are leaving it to Derek & Lorena to capture our day! And also- Pilar will NOT swap out photography for anything else, we tried :S Hope that helps!
  17. Our travel agent told us that we get a one-time pricing adjustment if the price drops. But that there has to be enough open seats on the flight to return/resell the entire group, if that makes sense?
  18. Hi There, Our wedding is May 25, 2013 and we got our pricing at the beginning of April and locked it in at that time, all of our 40 guests have paid their deposits and everything. From what our travel agent told us, they get pricing etc way before it's even posted online, so if you go onto say itravel2000.com and can search your date and get a quote, then your agent should absolutely have this information! Where are you located? I wish I could reccommend an agent for you, but our travel agency, Blue Petal Destination Weddings was just bought out by a small independent agency and we have had nothing but problems with them for the past month, which really sucks because we feel like we're stuck. It's hard to find a great agent that you really click with and understands your needs and preferences! I would go with what Tammy suggested, we got our original referral for Blue Petal off this website and our original agent was FABULOUS. Hope that helps- good luck! Kristen
  19. We are thinking of doing a photobook of our engagement photos, along with our daughter (6yrs old) and instead of captions, leacing those spots blank for the guests to write messages. I also love the photobooth idea, so we downloaded the PocketBooth app for our ipad...but I'd only do that with a cool backdrop and I really won't know until we get there...I've seen some fab photos around the property, but since our reception is in the Bamboo Room, we'd have to keep it close....pinterest is great for those kind of ideas too!
  20. Hi Ladies, I am a May 2013 bride, May 25, 2013 at the NOW Jade Choco, we should talk about your colours! If we are doing similar, I would gladly buy some items from you so you don't have to lug it all home! Anybody on pinterest? I am driving my FI crazy with all my hair-brained ideas- he thinks this wedding is going to cost us a fortune! And it will, if I can't stop pinning and re-pinning LOL! Cheers! Kristen
  21. Could you buy freeze-dried petals in PDC maybe? I am hoping to get some things in town once we're there, since the resort pricing for some add-ons are crazy...
  22. Hey There, Pilar gave us three options. We chose the beef filet, the mahi mahi, and the vegetarian option....I wouldn't worry about it, I'm sure three is fine- and almost customary these days, isn't it? I shouldn't say anything I guess, since our wedding isn't until next year- but at this point, she's given us 3 options...that may change?
  23. Hi There, Our wedding is May 25, 2013, ceremony 4pm pergola, cocktail hour 5pm Blue Bar, and dinner 6pm in the Bamboo Room. We asked Pilar to shift everything up one hour at our photographer`s recommendation but Pilar wouldn`t allow it, unless we agreed to change all of our locations, due to some kind of conflict. I was surprised b/c I thought they only did 2 ceremonies/day-- when we originally booked, she optioned us either 1pm or 4pm ceremony time only. Bummer, but we don't want to give up our chosen locations so we're keeping it as is.
  24. Hey Brides, Does anyone know if there is an extra charge for the flowers at the ceremony at the Pergola? (Divine pkg) Such as this- not the flower petals but the flowers on the actual pergola.... Thanks!
