  1. Oh, I know what you mean! We originally invited 115 people! We thought we'd end up with about 75 (which still made me nauseous), but turns out a lot of people just weren't interested/able to go. We are having an AHR on June 21st though, and will invite all of those same people, so we'll prob end up w/ about 100 there. I might just have a difficult family though , all of my extended family thinks they're going to wait until 2 wks out and try and book last-minute. We are struggling with that, because we want to implement a hard deadline much earlier than that- I have already started buying stuff, and would like to do as much as I can in advance, so the stragglers are frustrating. That's a whole other post, don't get me started! When we originally sent out the STD (Facebook and email), we got a lot of positive response- we did this in January, and when deposits were due in April, and push came to shove, hardly anyone jumped on board. Which is fine w/ me, I would rather have it be more intimate...
  2. Hi Michelle, I can send you the invoice Pilar sent to me? We have a total of 40 people, so a lot wont apply to you, but you can see where the costs come from? Just inbox me your email & I can send to you! Kristen
  3. very cute! we're also getting married at the Jade, was it fabulous there? any insider info congrats!
  4. That is awesome! We were told that they took the DJ out of the package and couldn't do it...maybe I will try again
  5. Did you use a DJ through the resort, I know the pkg does not include this anymore? Do you mind sharing how much the cost was for that? Thanks! Kristen
  6. you are kidding! we get married a week after you- I guess I should look into it as well! Where did you go to verify that, what website?
  7. We negotiated (from our travel agent): Every 6th room free (to a maximum of 3 free rooms) – this includes 2 adults – who have to book full package (based on the lowest room category booked at Double Occupancy). It includes: free flight from Toronto to Cancun and hotel. They will only have to pay the taxes and the add-on connector flight should they fly from elsewhere. So, it would look something like this – again – these amounts are only an approximation as I will not receive confirmation from Air Canada until we are quite close to the final payment deadline: Per free room - $1625.62 - $313 (taxes – they are higher than Sunquest) = $1312.62 x 2 people = $2625.24 per room (maximum 3 free rooms).
  8. I think the Divine pkg includes an upgrade to Preferred, right? my MOH looked into upgrading and it was something crazy like another $600 or something. Not worth it!
  9. ah- scratch my previous post- you're referring to a stag n doe. We are also having one, but at the legion, so we don't need a licence or to supply the booze. They also have the craps table and black jack and stuff like that. We are asking each person in the wedding party to contribute one (decent) prize for a raffle table, and then we're having one big door prize, selling tickets etc. and the legion gives us a cut from the booze...I have been to dozens over the years. So much fun!
  10. I'm Canadian...never heard of a wedding social? Is that like a stag n doe?
  11. I just checked out their site, look at their suggestion for dealing with the hotel: ** Please notice your wedding venue hotel may charge a fee for outside vendors. In some cases the hotels are more flexible, if you mention the wedding flowers are arranged through a family member (as a gift). Might work?
  12. can you inbox me your email? I can send you the wedding planning form...
  13. Hi, Pilar quoted $65 per photographer for a day pass. So if 2 people come to do the photos, that's $130.00.
  14. We booked with Air Canada Vacations, and are getting every 6th room free (incl airfare, less the taxes, so approx $2600 per free room), up to a max of 3 free rooms. This applies to only FULL packages booked (flight + hotel). We locked in at $1625pp incl pkg and taxes. We also get a one-time price adjustment, which has to be an Air Canada Vacations price drop and must occur before our final pymt date. which sucks, because it looks like prices keep going up and up....
  15. Good question, hopefully a former bride can let us know! When is your wedding date, srikhy?
  16. Hi Shannon- yes, on our invoice, she totals everything, then subtracted the $500.00 from that And I also plan on bringing a script - or at least, specifying which readings I want and the basic timeline of the order of ceremony!
  17. ha, no problem! check out these attachments she sent me- one for religious, one for non. Looks like the main difference is an addit'l reading and a verse about marriage at the beginning? Ceremony Details (2).docx Ceremony Details Religious (2).docx
  18. Blue Petal Destination Weddings is the Canadian counterpart to Wright Travel, who hosts this website, I think? I got the name of the company from a rep at Wright Travel, they are located in Vancouver. We signed our contract with them in January, and then Blue Petal (was previously owned by Mason Horvath Travel) was sold to another travel agency, so in July, our wedding planner left us and we were assigned to a new one! It's been bumpy, but we're happy overall. I'm a little bit Type A (as you can tell from my planning form LOL), so it's been really hard to plan/trust from afar, as we are located in Ontario. I keep hearing that once we get to the resort, everything just falls into place, so I'm holding onto that!
  19. Yep, that's correct- but our wedding planner at Blue Petal asked us to do it last week, so we did....was really hard, this far out, but we did our best
