  1. We are also doing the pergola, i have 7 bridesmaids. We decided that the front 2 rows of seating will be reserved for them, and once they walk down the aisle, they go right to a seat. We are having only our MOH and BM stand up during the ceremony. They all seemed fine with that, it was actually suggested by a bridesmaid! We just think it will look silly with 14 attendants standing and only 20 seated guests, ya know?
  2. Depending on what your plans are, I know I saw someone else say they were able to swap out their private airport transfer and get a hair/ make up trial instead...
  3. I won mine on Facebook from Maracas Mexico (formerly Mishka Designs), and I love them, but I only won 20. It just so happened a friend of ours was travelling to PV and was able to pick them up for us, otherwise the shipping to MR was almost $100! Not sure what we're going to do with 20 of them, when we have 40 guests, so suggestions are welcome! I was thinking of just putting a few on each table with the "Shake Me" tags, and anyone could pick them up...?
  4. From the pics I've seen, looks like the sliding doors of the bamboo room open to the beach, near the mix bar, but I could be wrong....
  5. I checked out Adventure Photos, the resort photog and they seemed pretty mediocre. We decided to hire Derek Campbell, Photos in Cancun because A. He's a fellow Canadian, and B. his work is beautiful! I can honestly say that this is one part of the planning that I'm NOT stressing about, because I know it will be perfect. I asked Pilar about using the value of the photog towards something else and no dice. I think we're going to have Derek for 4 hours, so will use the resort photog for the reception part and hopefully he/she can capture some fun candid shots....
  6. Wedding favours...the Bain of my existence! Seems the more I see on Pinterest, the more I change my mind! Since we're going to Mexico, we wanted something themed, so I've looked at mini tequila bottles, maracas, personalized Tabasco bottles (which are super cheap), mexican wedding cookies.....on and on. What about a dessert/treat that's native to Jamaica like gizzada or something? Ou could wrap a few up with cello and ribbon?
  7. Do you have a "My Top Drawer" in the GTA? One just opened up here in London, and I think it's a chain?
  8. Hi Shannon, For some reason it says I don't have proper permissions to view attachments, would you mind emailing me this at [email protected]? I would really appreciate it! Thanks, Kristen
  9. If you still have bags left, I would be interested! But I need about 15-20, let me know! Thanks, Kristen
  10. Hi Susannah, I have read nothi but positive reviews about the spa therem aside from them going heavy on the eyeliner! I think if you're specific, it will be perfect! That's what I'm hoping for anyway...
  11. Hi Michelle, A little late (my email notiofications haven't been working, so I am waaaaay behind on this thread!) but we hired Derek Campbell (photosincancun.com), he is a fellow Canadian and his work also looks amazing! I am looking forward to working with him! Kristen
  12. Oh I like the Bath & Body Works idea- I think I missed the boat on that one, I was just there last night and their summery stuff is all gone I was also thinking of a nice lipgloss and some other stuff to make a care pkg type of thing...
  13. Hi Brides, I am having a destination wedding in Mexico next May, I have 7 bridesmaids (!) and I'm just not sure what to get for them? Below is a pic of what I got so far- the clutch was from Aldo, regularly $39.99 but I got them for $15.00- they do multi-item discounts, in case anyone is wondering. And the necklace also from Aldo for $15.00. That's $30 apiece, but I feel like I want to/should get something else for my MOH? I am thinking of about another $30-40, is that too much? I don't want to look cheap, but at the same time, 7 bridesmaids is a LOT! Thanks! Kristen
  14. I also thought it was $15pp per hour? Wonder if she capped that amount now? great news about the DJ!
  15. I sent you the invoice, you'll see $50pp for anyone over the 25- and that's just for the meal! I also was hoping for a smaller group but my FI has too many friends. LOL!
  16. Ok Ladies. I just need to vent. I did not realize how stressful and frustrating it would be to plan a destination wedding! We are working with a travel company/wedding planner, and OMG is it ever maddening. I feel like nothing is finalized, we wait weeks for responses, nothing is clear, things aren't communicated well. Has anyone here used a 3rd party to liaise with the hotel? Is it really necessary? I mean, we used her to book the packages for everyone etc, but as far as dealing w/ wedding-specific details, is it not better/easier for me to just communicate w/ Pilar? All we kept hearing was how unresponsive the hotel is, how delayed they are, etc etc. so we got roped into paying $500 to this company who is supposed to make this easier for us, and all we are is frustrated! The old saying "Too many cooks in the kitchen" is ringing true for us, and we are just nervous that things are going to get complicated. I need some reassurance that everything will fall into place once we get there, I am feeling so anxious about it. Maybe I am a bit more Type A than I thought! But it's hard working with a resort out of country, and our travel agent is also out of town, so we have never met, all communication is via email or phone. Am I alone? Overreacting? arghh!!!!
  17. Just noticed- your wedding date is our arrival date, I will have to look out for you! We fly in by 11am
  18. Really? They really care about that? Geez, we have so much still to figure out!!!
