  1. Check out their reviews: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/photos-in-cancun-photography/reviews
  2. Omgeeeee I just saw that Derek now offers photo booths! They bring a giant bag of props to use, and I'm sure I can find a good backdrop for pics. Now I'm super excited!! And- his website is up and running
  3. Thank you! That's what I was thinking, just the earrings...I don't want to look pageant-y LOL!
  4. Oh also- we're going to use the resort photog to cover the remainder of the reception, since Pilar said we can't swap it out for anything else
  5. We bought the 4 hour package from him for $1500. This will cover getting ready, ceremony, cocktail hour (the wedding party will go off and do this while our other guests hang at the Mix bar) and then I think a bit of dinner, hopefully at least the first dances. Our ceremony is at 4, so he said he'll come around 3. I chose him because when I first started looking at pics of weddings here, his were coming up on google. Turned out, our travel agent knows him, as he is from Toronto, so she also recommended him. Once I emailed him, it was a done deal. He works with his wife, who is Mexican, and they seem fantastic! For some reason, his website isn't working,,but they have a Facebook page, so you can see tons of pics there! The fire dancers are there once a week, I think Pilar told me....
  6. We asked Pilar if we could reserve a large section of the buffet restaurant to have an informal welcome dinner- our flight lands at 11:00am, so we figure people will have time to settle in their rooms. We are planning on giving an OOT bag per room, so will be doing that there, and I will probably give my bridesmaids their gifts as well....
  7. You may have already gotten the answer, but we are having a welcome dinner the night we arrive, and are handing them out then. Seems like a waste of $$, even though it isn't a super horrible cost...
  8. thank you! I am in love with my shoes and sash- I got a really good deal on the dress at David's, so I decided to splurge on those items. I found these earrings on Etsy and think they're gorgeous. Was thinking if I went with them, I would do nothing else. What do you think?
  9. Does anyone know what decor is included in the Bamboo Room? I know I can bring in the centerpiece from the ceremony as well as the medallions they use on the pergola (2). All white linens I know, but what about candles in glass holders or anything? I have seen pics with flower petals on the cake table, do they do that there? If I bring shells, will they scatter them on the tables for me? I plan on bringing some table runners to add some color, and I'm not sure what else I need to bring. Also- do any past brides have a floor plan/layout for the Bamboo Room they'd be willing to share? It's so hard to plan and visualize without seeing it first!

  11. oh, that IS a bummer! We don't really want a private transfer either, all 42 of us are flying together, and that's part of the fun!
  12. Welcome Melissa! I am also a May 25th bride, at the NOW Jade in Cancun When do you arrive? Maybe we will run into each other at the airport We haven't sent out our invites yet, but hope to by the end of the month. We did it a little differently- we didn't ask guests to RSVP for MX, as we already know who booked and we've all already paid in full, and we are having an AHR 3 weeks after we return. So, we only asked people to respond to that. I attached some pics for you- the middle section is a little wordy, but we wanted to put something a little cute in there, along w all the relevant details. Also- as I am a single mom, we changed up the first part, which was my FI's idea (gotta love him!), he wanted to really make sure my daughter was included in our day in every way!
  13. wow, those sound amazing! Can I ask what they ended up costing per bag? We have 42 guests coming, and really can't afford 42 bags, so I was thinking of a bag per room, or is that really cheap of me?
  14. Chantal, I am especially interested in hearing how the DJ goes....we are really flipping back and forth between using him in place of the live music, or just bringing an ipod....I hope he is good at "running the show", if you know what I mean!
  15. Ok Ladies, I need some accessory advice. I have my dress, shoes, and sash....trying to decide about earrings/necklace/bracelet/none of the above....my Lazaro (eeek!) sash is very intricate and a little busy, and my shoes are also pretty flashy, so I'm not sure what else would be "too much". Here are the pics of my items, any advice is really appreciated! (Gosh, talk about first-world problems, I'm sorry...all of my wedding party just tells me what I want to hear, so some impartial advice would be really helpful) Kristen
  16. Maybe I'm biased because I chose the pergola and bamboo room but....this is why. I read on here that the beach can be very windy and the water is very loud, so we decided pergola. Plus, I really just like the look of the pergola. We went with the bamboo rom bc I read that castaways has an open ceiling and, what if it rains? Plus, the bamboo room is air conditioned, and I want my guests to be comfortable and dance! I think the beach is beautiful though, and I've seen reception pics in castaways, which are also fantastic, so it's a hard decision....
  17. No apologies for the questions! That's what the forum is for, I have learned so much on her, it's crazy! 1 . The resort photog is Adventure Photos. Not sure about Del Sol pricing because we went with Photos in Cancun (Derek Campbell) 2 . We got a quote from Pilar for the fire dancers, I can't remember exactly, will double check in my email, but it was close to $600 for a 45 minute session! She suggested we wait, and plan a welcome dinner on the night where the fire dancers come in already- I guess they have a weekly calendar they provide upon check- in. Too bad, my FI really wanted them, but adjust couldnt justify the cost. Let me double check my email, I will repost 3 . The floor rental is for a beach reception I think?
