  1. We are having a welcome dinner the night we arrive, we just asked Pilar to reserve a section of the buffet restaurant for us and that was no problem. We plan on giving out our welcome bags there
  2. We are using Derek Campbell, photosincancun.com Check out his work, it's fantastic!
  3. Pilart told me now that only 2 entrees are allowed, unless the 3rd is a vegetarian or gluten free menu item....
  4. Hi Shannon, I emailed Pilar about that, and she provided me with a 54" diameter of the tables. I googled and found that standard banquet seating guidelines are 4-6 people at a 48" round and 8-10 people at a 60" round. I will probably go with the former and keep the guest# small at each table, because I've been to weddings where it's elbw to elbow, and that's not comfortable at all! I'd stick with 6-8/table, which is right in the middle. Do you happen to have the dimensions of a head table? She responded with "8.36 cm length* 4.60cm width". That can't be right!? Hopefully that helps! Kristen
  5. Lauren look what I just found online! http://www.weddingbee.com/classifieds/show-ad/?id=10549/ And http://www.weddingbee.com/classifieds/show-ad/?id=16771 !!! Kristen
  6. Oh-also, she said $65 per person for an outside vendor. We have invited Derek and Lorena for dinner, so not sure if we'd still have to pay for them if they're "guests"
  7. We're going with Derek Campbell, I fell in love with his work while looking at Jade photos online. I too am confused about the pics included w the Divine pkg, we emailed Pilar to clarify but I'm not sure if the language barrier caused an issue. She did say that if we opted out of the resort photog, she would give us back only $150USD. So we decided to use them for whatever Derek doesn't cover, at the dance part....FI thinks he can convince them to come w us to the disco after, but we'll see! Also, the videographer that's included covers only the ceremony. When we sent back the planning form, we included quite a few questions, it seems like she was selective in what she answered, because we still have a lot to clarify...
  8. We invited our photographer and his wife to dinner as well...I think they generally appreciate the gesture.
  9. Also- I would consider the stained one if I were you, you can always take it to be professionally cleaned, I would think?
  10. Thank you! I Actually, I found it online, it was like fate. I have been dreaming about this sash since I saw it on SYTTD ages ago. And one night, I was poking around online and this ad popped up that was only posted the DAY before! So I pretty much stalked the seller, sent her an email, a text, and we finalized it all. She is getting married at the beginning of April and then sending me the sash, we split the cost. I really took a leap of faith, I don't even know who she is, but I sufficiently creeped her on FB and Pinterest and found her wedding website, so if she disappears on me, I can find her! (are brides crazy or what?!) But it's scary, sending someone that amount of money in good faith. eeeek. fingers crossed that it all works out. I see she still hasn't pulled down her ad for the sash so that really freaked me out. I just sent her an email right now, so we'll see what comes back. It's not even about the $, but I really REALLY want that sash. If it helps, she told me that a bridal store in her hometown ordered the sash directly from Lazaro- you can't find it in store, because it's from the Spring 2010 bridal collection. Retail was $800.00, according to her. I only paid $599 for my dress, so I'd still consider the splurge, the total overall cost still being less than $1500- can't beat that!
  11. I have seen at weddings where they put a little coloured jewel sticker, colour-coded, on each place setting card, just small, in the corner. For example, all veggie meals had a green jewel, all beef had a red, and all chicken was clear, I tihnk. Something that doesnt stand out to the guests, but you can give Pilar a little chart with the colour coding on it or something so she knows? I'm thinking of that as well....
  12. Have any past brides used paper lanterns to hang from the ceiling in the Bamboo Room, such as below? Any recommendations on sizing and # of lanterns would be great! My colours are champagne and teal, so I was thinking of doing white and two shades of teal/turquose.... Thanks Ladies! Kristen
  13. I live in London, so we go to Pt Huron a lot. SCC Parcel Pick-Up is a company that allows you to register with them, and then use their addr for shipments at a fee of $5.00 per package. That's it! We use them all the time and they are fantastic. No fee to register or anything. So, depending on where in ON, Sarnia might be a better option than Buffalo- but that's good to know about Buff, I never knew other cities provided similar services!
  14. I can't speak for the vendors or storefronts, but when we went to PV, we left US dollar bills for tips at the resort and all the staff seemed to love them!
  15. That's what I struggle with too, bringing over larger items...we decided against it, and will see what we can find in Playa once we get there. From what I read, you can buy almost anything in town, so maybe worthwhile to just wait and hope you can find something?
  16. eek. If it were me and I was a week away, I'd probably try to find some other way to contact her (phone/skype?) I know everyone says not to worry and everything works out, but the Type A in me can't be satisfied with that- not at a week out. I guess it also depends on what you want confirmed, if it's the currency thing, then past brides are more than able to answer your questions
  17. Yes, we have go pay $65pp for he and his wife to come...plus we decided to invite them to dinner. I actually talked to him today and said their website was changing servers, which is why it was finicky over the last few days. You should be able to check it out now....
  18. Love the flower girl dress! Was this an Etsy purchase? Do you mind sharing the shop name, if so? Exactly what I have been looking for! Thanks, Kristen
  19. I filtered on Etsy by "Ships to Canada" http://www.etsy.com/search?q=infinity%20ring&view_type=gallery&ship_to=CA There seems to be quite a few, depending on what you're looking for. I also am thinking about one for my MOH as a little something extra, but I hate buying plated jewellery. Whereabouts in Canada are you, if you live near Michigan, you can always register for SCC Parcel Pickup in Port Huron, we use them all the time, they charge $5.00 to allow you to use their US address, and save a boatload on shipping!
  20. Thanks so much It's nice to hear positive words from people I don't know sometimes, because I think my friends just tell me everything is fine, even if not haha!
  21. We also have a wedding website and people can select their meal selection on there. We haven't been too diligent in making sure people have done it, but will start to remind people as we get closer. Our site has the ability to export all the RSVPs into a spreadsheet, so I will just print that out and bring to Pilar when we get there, I guess? We did the beef, the mahi mahi, and a vegetarian option, which based on the menu from Pilar, looks like a veggie lasagne or pasta of some kind...
  22. Has anyone been provided with the table diameters for the rounds in the Bamboo Room? I am planning on a head table and then 4 or 5 round tables. We are bringing our own table runners, and I am making them myself, so I need to know how much fabric to buy! Thank you! Kristen
  23. Also- does anyone know the etiquette as far as having the photographers for dinner? Photos in Cancun will be there, so I wonder if its expected? I don't know the rules!
  24. We are thinking of doing postcards as our guest book, does anyone know if they sell these at the resort?
