  1. Hi Kitts. I'm planning on getting married at SMB on the beach as well and would love to see the setup if you'd be willing to share your photos. I'm hoping to wear a long veil... would that have been a nightmare in the wind that you experienced? I'm not sure I have pictures online anymore of our wedding but I'll PM you the link to my digital photo album which has some pictures that might be useful to you. We had dinner with our guests in the Blue Room and part of our reception in the red room. We were married on the beach (I think at 4pm too). It was insanely windy but it was April so hopefully October will be beautiful for you!
  2. Nicely done! I've started working on mine and although I bought a heavier line I'm concerned about them breaking when I'm walking in the sand (as I'm going to be wearing them for the ceremony... exploding beads everywhere while I'm walking,... not a good look). Anyone have any experience with actually wearing barefoot sandals on a beach.
  3. Congratulations! It looks like you had such a perfect day! I love the beach setup and that there are even trees on the beach! Such a nice setting
  4. I'm wearing barefoot jewelery for the ceremony (as we're getting married on the beach) and then I'm going to get a pair of heels for the reception. I'm making my own barefoot jewelery. Anyone else DIY their barefoot jewelery? I'd love to see what people have come up with.
  5. Ah, so your cake will be relatively large. As we're just having ~ 15 people the cake will be tiny and I think it will just look sad on the table all be itself. Hopefully I'll be able to come up with something to make it look like a wedding cake. It's just not worth paying extra for the larger cakes for only 15 people. After the cocktail hr and dinner (and drinking) everyone's probably going to be pretty full...
  6. Oh boo, really? That's too bad. From what I've heard normally the places that allow fireworks and bonfires will let you have them... That really sucks. Alternatives anyone?
  7. A fondant flower extraction mission is going to be a definite! Are you having a small wedding as well? I can't recall if you mentioned that in another post.
  8. Thanks everyone for your kind words! The few times I've gone and tried it on I love it and am convinced that it's going to be perfect, but a week or so later I always start feeling wishy washy about it again. I do have a bit of an indecisive personality so it may just be that. Anyone else experienced similar feelings? MissBubbles: This dress is Allure Bridals Exclusive Collection, Style #2511 http://allurebridals.com/Store_ProductDetail.aspx?pid=16c2hF2676786gcF8508
  9. Does anyone know if SMB allows sky lanterns? I've sent an email to Valeria, but lately it's been taking such a long time to hear back so I thought I'd ask here in case anyone's already looked into it. Thanks!
  10. Great cake topper and definitely location appropriate! Note to self... I need to start looking for a cake topper
  11. Cute cake topper! I've never seen anything like it. As we're only having ~ 15 people the cake that we'd be provided with is going to be small. I just think it will look pretty sad sitting on the cake table if I don't decorate it somehow. Fake flowers would definitely dress it up & hopefully hide the weird fondant flower they put on top. Thanks for sharing! Quote:SUBMIT Originally Posted by KCDawn Secrets' included cake is pretty boring!! My fiance is an avid mountain biker so I love it :-) I'm also thinking of putting some flowers to add some color. I'll ask Valeria how much they'll charge for real ones, but my guess is they'll be too much so I'll just bring a few imitation ones in that case.
  12. soonCB - how many people are you having at your wedding? We're only having ~15 is that enough to do the quilt?
  13. We're going to just be using the standard complimentary cake at our wedding for economical reasons. It's just so plain and although I'm not super particular about it I would like for it to fit in with the rest of our decor. Anyone though of ways to just dress up the plain, free cake? I was thinking of bringing flowers down, but I know there are some really creative women out there so I'm hoping some of you guys can help out!
  14. Really cute idea! I've never heard of this before. If sewing was something in my bag of tricks I would definitely be doing this. Basically you get guests to write their name and thought/advice for the bride and groom and then sew the squares into a quilt. Here are some pics I was able to find. Has anyone found any further thread re: this idea?? I LOVE the idea because you can do it with any amount of guests and it is something that will be in our home forever.
  15. I'm getting married at the end of August this year. Now that I'm within the 6 months until the big day range I'm wondering where I should be in terms of checking things off of my to do list. Any other August 2012 brides out there? What are things that you're prioritizing getting wrapped up with these last 5 months to go?
  16. This is super helpful! Thanks, How many transition songs do you think will be needed?
  17. Hi KCDawn, we also are planning to use our iPod for the music. Because we're going on a cruise afterward I'm worried about having enough space in my pack for everything + the dock. I'm worried that buying a smaller model may not give enough sound though. Is the Bose Sounddock the most appropriate one you've seen?
  18. I absolutely love your dress! It's so beautiful. I would stick with something simple, once you're all dressed up in hair and make-up the dress will seem plenty dressy. Sticking with a more subtle shoe rather than something with a lot of colour will probably keep it more formal if you're concerned about being too casual. Again though... what a gorgeous dress. I wish I had tried that one on when I was looking!
  19. Love these photos! They seem so personal and not as posed as most. You looked absolutely stunning!
  20. I think it's a great idea to walk yourself down the aisle. Especially at a destination wedding. Anyone have any tips on how to tell my Dad though... I fear he's going to be heartbroken even though we're not really close, but I am his only daughter. I originally wanted my brother to walk with me, but I feel like walking myself will hopefully help keep the tears back. Anyone out there who has told their Dad that they're walking solo?
  21. It's a tough call. Both mine and my boyfriend's parents are contributing a little bit, but it's mostly us who are paying for the wedding. I like the idea of a heartfelt note and etsy has quite a few small little gifts for parents.
  22. Love that email. So nicely put. We're not doing a bridal party either. I've just heard too many stories about people suddenly unable to make the trip, etc. that we just decided to dominate the stage ourselves!
