Dreams Los Cabos bride Roll Call
McLecker replied to TammyWright's topic in Dreams Los Cabos Weddings
To Dreams Los Cabos brides - Wondering if anyone has any advice - It looks like WAY more people are RSVP'ing yes than we expected to our November 2012 wedding. We had thought we'd have 35 - 40 and it looks like we may have over 60 *(which will likely be a huge strain on our budget and I'm a bit stressed about that). Does anyone know how Dreams Cabo charges for the wedding and how much per head I can expect? When we started this, I was picturing a smallish but super fun wedding. Apparently people are loving the location so everyone is getting on board. Lovely but Yikes! -

Great Questions! I have no idea and I'm still just in the plannign stages - but would love to know the answers - especially about the pricing if anyone has any insight! Mexico Pricing friom Vancouver? Over $2000???
McLecker replied to McLecker's topic in Honeymoon Forum
Hi Lola2012, Yes thanks - I'm aware of the beach and honestly that was the biggest (and only) draw back for this area. But when I put up a note on facebook asking if anyone had been to Cabo and if they recommended it - I got overwhelming YES responses. People seemed to love it in spite of the beach/water issue. My FI and I really struggled to that factor, but in the end, the resort looks gorgeous (has great reviews), the weather is supposed to be excellent, Dreams does fabulous weddings, and the price was right. So last night we picked Dreams Cabo! Really appreciate the feedback and insight. Here's hoping we love it as much as we think we will. -
Mexico Pricing friom Vancouver? Over $2000???
McLecker replied to McLecker's topic in Honeymoon Forum
Hi everyone, thanks for tall the feedback! We ended up getting quotes for Now Jade and Dreams Cabo that came in under the $2000 mark from Vancouver in November 2012. So we'll be choosing between those two. The other resorts like Dreams Riviera Cancun have just jumped their prices up way too much! -
Hi all, As of today, I am booking my November 2012 wedding at Dreams Los Cabos. Extremely excited to have finally selected somewhere after all the stresses of picking a destination. Any tips are most welcome!!!!

Just booked my wedding for October 27, 2012

Hi all, As of today, I am booking my wedding at Dreams Los Cabos for November 2012. Can't wait to dig more onto this site to learn more tips. Very excited! -
Hi Jonesy, thank you very much for that info. Honestly, I didn't think Almond looked all that great from the pics. Glad to know we were bang on. That was about the cheapest option from Vancouver ($2100) and anything more than that, I wouldn't be comfortable asking guests to pay.... so veto'ing Barbados. Good luck with you search! Hope you find something you love!

Hi all, Our Travel Agent is suggesting Almond Casaurina Beach Resort in Barbados for our wedding (November 2012). I can't seem to find any threads with brides getting married in Barbados. We are from Vancouver BC and need a family friendly resort. Any insight or feedback is appreciated!

Hi Aruba brides - my travel agent has suggested Occidental Grand Aruba as the resort for our wedding (november 2012). We are from Vancouver, BC so it will be a long haul to get there. Did anyone else look at Occidental in their venue search? We need it to be family friendly since we have friends bringing kids. Any feedback or suggestions on the Occidental that you can share would be greatly appreciated!!

Mexico Pricing friom Vancouver? Over $2000???
McLecker replied to McLecker's topic in Honeymoon Forum
I know! Trust me- I was so shocked! We were totally expecting in the $1500 range. Wrong! But you have lots of time so you will be able to get the best prices hopefully. Our planner is working with a travel agent and she often uses the AI properties (and Dreams in particular) - even she was shocked. She says she prefers not to use Sunquest and Air Transat bc of their policies around changing and cancelling flights without notice. She says that with a normal trip - sure, go with them.... but with a wedding, it isn't worth risking it and apparently the cost differentials aren't much more (according to the TA). I'll be curious to hear what you get back when you start getting your pricing! Oh and about the 30 days - appararently that can be somewhat flexible. But what we did when we decided that we were going down south, we sent an email to everyone on our invite list and told them that we were planning a destination wedding, that a Save the Date would come in the next couple of months once a locale had been picked, but a deposit would be required shortly after that time so we wanted to give advance notice. The email was really well received and actually, a lot of people wrote back (which helped us do an estimation of our numbers, and number of kids too). Good luck with your planning! And let me know how it goes for you! -
Mexico Pricing friom Vancouver? Over $2000???

Hi! Yes we are using a travel agent through our wedding planner that we hired (also from Vancouver). The planner has been getting quotes for us - and despite what we had thought (that November was supposed to be the cheapest month) - prices are coming back way higher - and they are apparently up significantly over just last year. I just can't ask guests to spend $2000 for Mexico when we can so often get flights for much less. If you or anyone has any insight into if this is normal, or to be expected, I'd appreciate the help bc right now I'm just stunned and questioning this whole thing! -
I'm wondering if any other Vancouver/Canadian brides who are looking to have weddings in November/Winter 2012 are astonished by the prices for some of the travel packages? Apparently they have gone up significantly! I ideally want to get married at Dreams RVC and when I asked the travel agent/planner for the cheapest week (late Nov 2012) - it is $2000+ (with taxes) with Air Canada Vacations, and even more for West Jet Vacations! I just can't imagine asking my guests to pay $2000 for Mexico. Prices for the Dominican Republic are better ($1800) but you have to fly on the red eye to Toronto and then down to DR then next day since there are no direct flights. Plus, the standard of the DR hotels just doesn't seem to compare to 5* in Mexico. I really would love Dreams PVC but that seems so much higher than normal. Has anyone had any of these challenges?

2012 Brides - Roll Call!
McLecker replied to jmred's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
Hi 2012 brides! I am getting married in Winter 2012 but am still waiting for the travel agent to come back with rates and packages for guests from across Canada. Because I wanted to be sure that I gave everyone one year's notice, we sent out "Quick Wedding Update" emails last week. We did this even before we sent the Save the Dates bc we didn't want to wait another month or so to pick that, when a lot of people will need to start saving and plannign vacation time etc. I've seen a bunch of people ask questions about that, so I've pasted the email we sent in case it is helpful. We have had so many (way more than expected) write back and say how grateful they were to get the advance notice and are very excited to go away to share our special day. ...Next up - pick our date and location. Hello everyone, We hope you are all doing well. It has been just over a month since our engagement and we've been happily planning the next stage of our life together! Michaela and I are excited to announce that we will be having a Destination Wedding and we would really love to have you with us for this special moment. With friends and family reaching from Nova Scotia to Vancouver Island, we are considering central, sunny locations that offer the best possible rates and ultimate destination experience for our guests. We are not quite ready to send out "Save the Date" cards, however we do want to give you a heads up that we're in the process of looking for the perfect family-friendly tropical resort for a late-November to early-December 2012 or mid-January to mid-February 2013 wedding. Once we have picked a resort and location we will send you all the information to help you decide if you can join us. There will be a deposit required to book your trip, which is why we wanted to let you know early. All of this info should be coming in the next one to two months. We know you will have questions and we will provide all details as soon as possible. We truly want this to be a fabulous vacation for everyone and hope to celebrate in the sun with you! With love, Michaela & Scott -
I would love to work with the template if you wouldn't mind sending it to me? [email protected] Many thanks!

Ok, so I am just starting to figure out how this thread business works... Apparently I'm stunned! I posted on here a while ago looking for Vancouver travel agents or planners and then didn't know people wrote back! Just saw the responses now. Duh. Well - the good news is I didn't end up working with Flight Centre (as many of you said) as I heard bad things from other people also. I've moved forward and about to work with Tara Thorp from Forever True Weddings in Vancouver (I also didn't see the suggestions about Blue Petal) and we are waiting to hear back about destination options/costs/dates etc from her travel agent contact (planning Nov 2012 - Jan 2013 wedding) I've now "subscribed" to this thread so hopefully now I'll know if I get any feedback...but if anyone has an advice going forward, I would welcome it!

Hi Canadian Brides, I'm new to the site so just trying to figure out where to find info. We are meeting with Flight Centre's DW group in Vancouver today to get some ideas on where to go. Does anyone from Vancouver have any recommendations for Travel Agents of DW Coordinators that I should try contacting? Thanks for your help!!!

Hi there. I just got engaged on October 13th and after looking at every possible option in our home of Vancouver, BC we think we've decided to go away for a destination wedding. We are thinking November 2012 (as I don't want to do it over Christmas and really don't want to wait much longer than a year). Our guests will be coming from Vancouver, Ontario and Nova Scotia so we are looking for a location that will be easy for everyone to get to but also unique enough that our guests will have a fabulous time (we want it to be worth their expenditure since we know it is Their vacation too). We are open to Jamaica, Mexico, Maui (though may be too cost-prohibitive for our guests) but would love suggestions for unique venues or locations where there is both exquisite scenary and adventure. One main thing is, I just don't want a cookie-cutter wedding in a resort where I'm one of 5 brides getting married that day, and am funnelled through. Any insights or advice would be greatly apprecaited as we basically have a blank canvas right now
