I'm finding that my fiance is pretty much leaving it up to me, but at the same time he has opinions on things I wouldn't think he would care about at all. I was working on the postcards we are including with the STD's (they have info about the group booking, etc.) on the front it is just a picture of the resort and the name (Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun) - he just happened to come into the room and looked at it and told me that he hated the font that "Now Sapphire" was written in - and that he'd rather it be a little bigger and not in bold. Seriously??? He doesn't have any opinion on the colors, flowers, etc. but he has a problem with the font????

There are a few invitations from their site that I really like, so I'm psyched to be able to actually see a few in person

The majority of our guests will be flying in from either Boston/New York and Chicago. It looks like flights are around $450. We are waiting on the room block contact to come back but I think double occupancy at Now Sapphire (all-inclusive) will be about $250/night. It seems like most guests are going to be be staying four nights (Thur-Mon) so my best guess is about $1000 pp.

Realistically my fiance and I both know that a lot of the people who are "definitely going" won't actually be able to make it ~ but we are getting everything organized to send out STD's and I started sweating a little bit looking at how quickly the list was growing!!!

This is exactly what I am thinking for a timeline regarding sending out the invitations ~ I guess I'm a little behind with the STD's though.

I guess I'm just happy to hear that I'm not the only one feeling like this!! My mom just doesn't seem to understand that the guest list for a DW doesn't really work the same way as a traditional wedding................................

OMG, this is going to make me sound like such a horrible person, but that is my biggest fear right now!! My fiance's family is huge, and as much as we would love to have them all at our wedding $$$ had a lot to do with our decision to have a destination wedding. We are guesstimating about 50 guests ~ our package includes the first 25 guests, so even at that number things are going to start adding up very quickly!! But your totally right ~ life could be worse!!

I'm just wondering about how many people are you inviting (did you invite) to your DW? And how many are coming (or did come)? Our guest list is growing like crazy!! We are at 135 ~ we know that a lot of guests won't be able to make it (great aunts and uncles, grandparents, etc.) but I feel like that is a huge guest list for a destination wedding and I'm kind of freaking out about how many people are actually going to attend

I was just wondering if there are any plans to develop a Best Destination Wedding app for the iPad/iPhone or Droids?? I think it would be hugely popular!!

How far in advance is everyone sending their invitations? And how much time is everyone leaving between the response date and the actual wedding date? I think about 3-4 weeks is the norm for "standard weddings" but I need to get my planning form back to the resort 45 days before the wedding ~ and SO much of what we are going to do depends on how many people are going to come.

We are just waiting for the contract for the room block to come back from the resort (Now Sapphire). Today however, I was looking at some online travel sites and it looks like booking a "Flight & Hotel" package is less expensive (by between $70-$100) than if guests book the hotel through the TA and their flights separately......................has anybody else run into this?? I'm super confused about what to do now. For anybody who booked their rooms through an online travel site where there any additional hotel taxes that you had to pay once you arrived that weren't included in the Travelocity, Expedia, Hotels.com, etc. pricing?? Thanks for any suggestions on this. We are really trying to be conscious of making this trip as affordable as possible for our guests.

A friend recently gave me a book titled "The Wedding Ceremony Planner" by Judith Johnson, PhD. It has been enormously helpful, because I definitely want to write our wedding ceremony. It has everything you could ever need to organize your own ceremony! And it makes me feel better that I'm not the only one who wants to write the ceremony ~ I am a total control freak and there is no way I am leaving what is said on the most important day of my life up to someone who I'll meet maybe a day before our wedding...................................
