  1. Wow, now I am super concerned. She has been great with responding to emails, but we haven't signed the contract yet ~ I hope that doesn't change after we plop down $3500 to reserve our block. I'm surprised to hear that she didn't update you as people booked their rooms, that was one of the reasons that we thought it was a good idea to use a TA, so that we wouldn't have to worry about confirming with people that they had made travel arrangements. What kind of issues did you have with "guests checking in"?
  2. No, we're not getting married until 4.27.13 ~ but I've started looking around a little. It's so hard, I want something that is a least a little "beachy" but I do love the way a traditional, clean black and white invitation looks too. Ugh, too many decisions. Thank god I'm not having a "normal" wedding - having to pick a florist, a caterer, a cake, etc. would be too much for me to handle!! LOL
  3. Thanks for sharing those pictures. I'm assuming that the table runner is the same color as the chair sashes? You can totally see the "pink'ness" come out there ~ and it is a beautiful color!
  4. Wow, those look much nicer than a lot of the ones that I have seen on ebay ~ were you happy with the quality?? I mean I know they don't need to last very long ~ I just don't want something that looks "cheap"
  5. As long as the two of you are happy on your wedding day, I guess that is all that really matters. Groomsmen, bridesmaids, or not - it's your day and I hope it is perfect
  6. What?!?!?! You made those?!?!?! Holy cow bells, I so wish that I was crafty!! Those are incredible.
  7. I'm so jealous!!!! I LOVE that show!! Do you have any idea how long it will be before it's on TV???
  8. I don't mean to sound like a "B" here, but I don't understand why you FI is so dead-set on having groomsmen. This wedding is about the two of you, not him and his buddies. It's great that he suggested some girls to be your bridesmaids, but do you REALLY want some girls that you barely know standing beside you when you get married? Sorry if I sound mean, but I think he is being kind of selfish about this.......
  9. Hmmm, and I am bad bride because I'm not going to get my FI a wedding gift?? We're paying for most of the wedding ourselves, so we just decided that our wedding was our gift to each other. But now I am rethinking this.....................
  10. AllieH~ I like the way you put it. I think that must be what the lady at the store meant - that in the bright white the dress kind of takes over.
  11. I've been trying to decide the same thing. That dress looks pretty white though, how much brighter is the "white" as opposed to the "natural" - can you post a picture of both maybe?? The lady at the bridal salon was definitely trying to steer me toward a less "bright white", I can't remember exactly why she said this, maybe because it can wash you out if you have blonde hair or something ~ but I plan on having a very nice tan by my wedding day so I'm not really worried about that.
  12. Oh, that is so sweet. My fiances mother is terminally ill, and will almost certainly (but miracles do happen) pass before our wedding - we're trying to think of something special to do to remember her on our wedding day...............
  13. Is that a little heart on the back of your dress, or am I seeing things?? If it is, that is adorable!!! And I LOVE the boots!!!
  14. Wow, they came so fast!!! Ugh, I love them all! I am WAY to indecisive to plan a wedding.
  15. Through our room block with our TA, assuming that enough guests book through her, we get two upgraded rooms. Instead of purchasing gifts for my mom and my fiances dad (my father isn't in my life, and my fiances mother is terminally ill) we are just going to give them the upgraded rooms as our "thank you." If we don't get enough rooms booked to get two upgrades then we will just upgrade my mom's room.
  16. We intentionally choose a "family friendly" resort because a huge percentage of our friends have children. Surprisingly (or not, I guess) almost everyone has said that they plan on leaving their kids at home with the grandparents ~ we're 30 so a lot of our friends are just starting families and are looking forward to their first "kid-free" vacation since become new parents. Actually most of our friends are beyond thrilled that we are having a DW because it is an excuse for them to go to Mexico! We still haven't figured out exactly what we are going to do reading kids at the ceremony and reception though..........................
  17. I love my fiance more than anything in the world, but would I trust him with the RSVP's for our wedding ~ Nope. I would just hold off on getting the custom stamp until you are married and living together. For now just go to Vistaprint and have some address labels printed out. They are very reasonably priced and have a HUGE selection!! I literally spent over an hour last weekend picking out return labels to put on our STD's!!
  18. We've been talking about planning some type of outing for the guys to do the day before the wedding - definitely not a "traditional" groomsman gift, and one less thing to have to worry about transporting.................
  19. I obviously don't know your fiance friends, but I can't imagine any guys being that pissed off about not being in someone's wedding party. But more importantly, this is you and your fiance's wedding ~ if you are going to be uncomfortable about not having bridesmaids then he should really be more concerned about that, than not pissing his friends off. All he needs to do is explain the situation to his buddies............but that's just my 2 cents.
  20. Would you mind if I asked how much you paid?? And how far in advance you shipped everything??
  21. We'll have to put down $350 and then $100 for every room we want to block!! We have NO idea how many people are going to want to join us in Mexico, so we are planning on blocking 30 rooms (you can release rooms w/o a penalty if you do so before a certain date, but you aren't guaranteed to get the same rate if you have to add more rooms) ~ so $3350! I was definitely a little shocked by how much we'll have to put down as a deposit, but it is what it is. I mean we'll get the $$ back, it is just a large sum to have sitting in someone else's bank account for almost a year.
  22. That's hysterical ~ HOLLA ~ love it. And the fact that guests will be able to breakup payments is also a big plus for a lot of our friends with new families. And I emailed the TA that we've been talking with and she said that if guests do find better deals on internet travel sites like Travelocity, that they can usually price match. So I think that kind of sealed the deal for us, now we are just waiting to get the room contract back!! Yay!! HER prices were much better, as they def included transfers, and just all around cheaper. Plus it helps to have someone there to explain everything to you and your guests. Love that they won't have to come to me for questions (at least I hope) Not to mention, they'll be able to breakdown payments into a plan (not paying everything upfront) I know some of my guests will appreciate that (esp my younger bro/sis/cousins) Babs is great! Plus she says HOLLA (holler) in her emails/calls to me. LOVE HER!
  23. I am so stressed about how we are going to get everything to Mexico, and our wedding is still 11 months away (I'm a worrier)!! Does anybody have any good suggestions?? Shipping vs. checking a tons of bags??
