  1. Ugh, I was just looking over budget stuff today and we're probably going to be at $17,000. But I was reading an article earlier this week about the "average" cost of a wedding in the U.S. today, and it quoted $26,000 ~ so I guess I'm still $9,000 under.......................right??
  2. What kind of electrical outlets are there at Now Sapphire?? Do you need a converter??
  3. I attended a Now Sapphire webinar in February that was coordinated through this forum, and Ramon said that you were allowed to provide guests with an entree option, but you had to have the final count in ahead of time.
  4. Has anybody used an outside vendor for hair and makeup? Although I REALLY hate the idea of paying the $300 vendor fee I am kind of picky about hair and makeup and want to make sure that it looks perfect on my wedding day! My question is, do you have to pay the guest pass in addition to the outside vendor fee?? I would direct the email to Anel, but you know how loooooooooooooong the response time can be!! I am getting so frustrated with the lack of communication from them
  5. I still love my ring as much as I did the day we got engaged
  6. So the outside vendor fee is different for photographers. This is a direct copy and paste from Anel, "Regarding the outside vendor fee, we normally charge $300 usd per outside vendor, in terms of photographers, we do an exception and we charge a day pass per person $65 usd, because it´s something very special and delicate, but for any other vendor, we charge the regular fee."
  7. For a lot of reasons my fiance and I decided to book an outside photographer, but we are using a local company as opposed to flying someone in. Our wedding isn't until 4/27/13, so I obviously can't give you a review, but I can tell you that everyone I have been in touch with at Victor Herrera Photography has been wonderful! They are SO helpful and incredibly nice. We aren't using the main photographer (Victor) because using one of his associate photographers was cheaper and I thought their work was still great. Adrian will be the one photographing our wedding Good luck!!
  8. We are doing the same thing There is a pretty cool app for iPhones/iPads, etc. called My Wedding DJ that helps you organize your music for the ceremony, reception, first dance, etc. Here is the link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/my-weddingdj/id383243064?mt=8
  9. I am going to wear a birdcage veil. At first I didn't think I wanted one at all, but then I tried a veil on while I was dress shopping and it was the first time I actually felt like a "bride" ~ so I decided I was all in for a veil!! But I'm concerned about the wind too, so I think that the birdcage is a good compromise.
  10. The way that I understand the outside vendor fee is that it is $300 for each outside vendor you book, except for the photographer which they charge a $65 day pass for. However, if you have emails or anything where you were told that the vendor fee was a 1 time thing inclusive of all your outside vendors, I would absolutely hold them to that. Good luck
  11. I'm not sure if you were talking to me or not, but if you were I tried it on and bought it in ivory. I didn't even see the dress in "white" but the ivory was pretty white, so I can't really imagine what color the white dress actually is. And from what I've heard and read picking a dress that isn't too stark white is better for pictures
  12. P.S. I just Googled the Claire Pettibone Dew Drop dress!! Holy amazing dress!! LOVE IT!
  13. Just a word of caution, have you looked over your sales contract for the Mikaella dress? I just know that a lot of places hold you to the entire cost of the dress once it has been ordered. A friend of mine was in a similar situation, but after re-reading her sales contract she realized that there was no turning back once the bridal salon orders the dress, she was thinking she would just walk away from the deposit. Turns out, if she didn't pick up the dress, come in for alterations/fitting, etc. within 30 days of the dress arriving they would charge her CC for the remaining balance.
  14. Well I absolutely thought I didn't want a strapless dress..........................................but for this exact reason I ended up buying one!! LOL
  15. Thank you!! And they looked so nice on everyone! Best part, they are only $155, which I think is incredibly reasonable for such pretty bridesmaid dresses. Here is the link to them: http://www.jordanfashions.com/260
  16. Your pictures came out great HeatherViolet! We've booked Adrian Herrera (from Victor Herrera Photography) ~ and are very excited about having him photograph our wedding! We are also planning on having him for 6 hours, in your opinion did 6 hours seem too short (or too long)? They usually book 8 hours for a wedding, but because we aren't doing a "traditional" reception we figured that 6 hours would be enough time. I'm just looking for your thoughts on that time span??
  17. My FI and his groomsmen are going to be in white button up shirts and we just don't LOVE the way the boutonniere looks without the jacket ~ we just kind of felt like there wasn't really a "natural" place for it the way there is with a suit jacket. BUT, if you two decide that you like the way it looks, then by all means have them wear one!! I've absolutely seen it both ways
  18. I think you make an excellent point here. If it was a "regular" at home ceremony and reception it would be easy to just ignore this person ~ it's hard enough to see all the people you want to see during the traditional 6 hour weddings. But because destination weddings obviously provide a lot more time for the bride and groom to actually see their guests (which generally speaking, I think is a huge positive), in this situation it also provides a lot more time where you might have to interact with this person. That being said, it sounds like these negative feelings toward one another are mutual, so maybe there is a good chance that she would decide not to come??
  19. I think it's perfect that you have an even ratio, 2 bridesmaids for every groomsmen!!
  20. LOVE! It's beautiful and I don't think it's too "bridesmaidy" at all!! And $260?!?!?! How can you go wrong!!
