  1. Does anyone happen to know if you need a full passport book to enter T&C or if you can just use the cheaper passport card? I can't see to get a straight answer!
  2. Does anyone know if we need a passport card or book to fly into Turks and Caicos? I'm getting mix messages and just want to make sure I get the right one so I don't get stuck in customs! The card is cheaper than the book by a lot. Some people are saying you can only get the card if you're going in by land (cruise etc) rather than by plane. Anyone know? Thanks!
  3. My feeling is that when you're in the sun all day you tend to be colder at night so it may not seem as hot. What are the temps in August? We're from Oregon and LOVE our bonfires so it kind of has some meaning to us. Plus I think the smores are a fun twist on a wedding cake for a non traditional wedding like ours. I think either way you go, it'll be great!
  4. Wow, not sure how I missed this! I actually priced out everything to have a reception on the beach at Bay Bistro and it is a bit expensive, but you only get married once! I think it'll be worth it too. We're doing a small tent, paper lanterns, DIY table decor, bonfire etc. We aren't having a cake, instead we'll do s'mores. We aren't the super traditional type so I think this will be right up our ally. I love your idea of menu and thank you cards together. So fun! Thanks for all the info, it was really helpful! I keep getting mixed messages about the dang passport. The website made it sound like the card was fine but I think we'll play it safe and get the whole shebang.
  5. I think those may be the floating Chinese lanterns...just on the sand? Look on ebay or google - I've seen them online if they are.
  6. Your wedding was beautiful! Just made me more excited. We only have about 12 people coming down so my wedding will be low key, which I'm really excited about. I've heard taxis are ridiculous so that's one of the reasons why we chose Bay Bistro - because The Sands is so darn close. How was the food at Bay Bistro? Were their prices a lot more expensive than the other nice restaurants around? I actually figured out that I had the wrong email address for Joan. I found the right one and she was super fast at getting back to me. So nice to have someone actually respond quickly! Did you feel like you needed the tent? We'd like to go without the tent because we're such a small party. But I'm worried about the possible rain! One other question, did you have to purchase a full passport (book and card) or did you just get the card? There's a little confusion about that. I've been told we can just get the $40 card but others say we may need the full $140 passport. Yikes! I'd hate to get the card and get denied at the gate! Thanks again for adding pictures! Gives me an idea of what it will look like. Kara
  7. Has anyone had their Turks and Caicos hotel say no to Chinese wish lanterns? They have a groupon out right now and I want to buy them, but unsure if they are allowed or not.
  8. Oh my gosh, I need to talk to you! We are looking at doing our reception in front of Bay Bistro and would love any input you had! Are they good with allowing your own decor? And Did you have the reception on the beach in front of the restaurant? Do you by any chance have pictures? I'm so excited someone else did the same thing as we are planning! We are not using a wedding planner so I'm doing everything myself. I contacted Bay Bistro a couple weeks ago and haven't heard back. I'd love any info you have to share! Thanks! Kara
  9. Danie thanks for the info! I just got room rate from OCW and am just waiting to hear back from the Sands. I think either way it'll be wonderful! I'd love to see pics if you have them. Does anyone happen to know the cost of an officiant on the island? Just an estimate would be great. Thanks!
  10. That looks great Kelli! It is hard to see but looks very romantic! Love the burlap!
  11. I'm getting married in Turks and Caicos and am wondering if anyone knows if it's possible for my sister to get ordained to marry us. I know in the states it's easy to do, but not sure if it's possible being as T & C is a Brittish territory. Anyone had any experience with this?
  12. Thanks for the info! I've been looking at Ocean Club West and The Sands. I don't want some fancy shmancy hotel and would love to keep costs down as much as possible so I appreciate your review on the Sands. Did you by any chance see Ocean Club West? Any thoughts? Also good to know about bringing your own stuff. Hadn't thought about that before but LOVE the idea!
  13. I just looked on the Veranda's website and there was no pricing information listed. I'm wondering, since it's all inclusive, what the general pricing was? What does it compare to? It looks like the cheaper hotels are about $200/night and the more expensive about $400-500. Thanks!
  14. Oh that is wonderful! Not sure where I heard my info from then. Thanks for the info Krys! You're always so helpful.
  15. I see a lot of May 2013 brides on here. I've heard hurricane season starts in May, are any if you nervous about that? I'm thinking about a May wedding myself but keep thinking about a ceremony in a storm! I'd love to hear your input!
  16. Wow, those are gorgeous! Exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you so much for the pictures! Definitely gives me some ideas. I'll PM you my email now. Thanks!
  17. Wow, those are gorgeous! Exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you so much for the pictures! Definitely gives me some ideas. I'll PM you my email now. Thanks!
  18. Oh my gosh, really? I would love to stay connected with you and see your ideas! I see your wedding is in June, are you worried about hurricanes/bad weather at all? Do you have a wedding planner or are you winging it? Would love any input!
  19. After reading a lot of threads about the bigger hotels (Beaches etc), I'm thinking of having a very small, non fussy, low key wedding. The hotels seems to have so many restrictions on outside vendors and such high costs for non important stuff. I would LOVE to hire a boat to take guests to either a small Island or non occupied area where we can have a very intimate ceremony. Then maybe have cocktails (champaign, beer etc) then boat back to have a small beach reception at a local restaurant. Maybe hire a local band also. Does that seem possible at all? Or am I just dreaming? Any info would be so greatly appreciated!
  20. Those are cute. Just not sure how they would fit on a big busted person. Definitely would be good to try on first. Thanks for posting!
  21. I know you're in Canada, but I'll let you know if I come across anything! Either way, you're bridesmaids will be beautiful!
  22. Wow, that seems a bit expensive! Beautiful dress but that's a lot to ask a bridesmaid to pay! I looked it up on the internet and it was well over $200 for the short one. Yikes!
  23. How much do they cost? I assume you're talking about the longer ones. Do you know the cost of the shorter one? I wish they had the prices listed on their website!
  24. That's perfect! I LOVE that dress. SO beachy! I think with coral you have to be willing to use all different shades mingled into one wedding. There's no way you can just pick one shade and make everything match. Thanks for digging this dress out. So fun!
